LMU CVM c/o 2024

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was waitlisted and then pulled off the waitlist during the first week that they began doing so.
This is my first cycle applying. My overall GPA was 3.52, science GPA 3.48 (according to VMCAS, every school calculates it differently), last 45 was around 3.75. My GRE score was average. I had about 1,000 veterinary hours when I applied (mostly SA experience). I had about 200 hours of research experience as well. I had four LORS; one was a veterinarian, two were principal investigators from the research projects I participated in, and one was a professor.

I believe LMU has a holistic process when choosing candidates for their program. I think it is important to diversify your application, especially if your GPA is on the lower/average side. I declined my acceptance to go to another school which I thought was a better fit for me.

I was waitlisted & got pulled off on June 3rd, it was my first cycle applying. My overall GPA was a 3.83, I believe my science and last 45 GPA's were both around a 3.5 or 3.6. My GRE scores were really close to 150 for both math & reading, I got a 3.5 on the writing section. I had around 1200 small animal veterinary hours, & I believe around 500-600 large animal hours (veterinary & non-veterinary). My small animal hours were at clinics, my large animal hours were with both beef & dairy cattle. I also had numerous volunteer experiences with animals: dog walking for promoting adoption at a kennel, pet blessings at my alma mater, & with my local humane society. I also incorporated pet ownership tasks into my first essay question (we have chickens, rabbits, a fish, & a hermit crab at home). As far as human experiences I listed all of my previous jobs & volunteer experiences. My previous work experiences from undergrad are: a lab assistant for the anatomy & physiology department, a peer tutor for anatomy & physiology & biology, a student minister, a mentor, & a food service worker. Some of my volunteer experiences included helping with church festivals, dinners, bible studies, pageants, & CCD classes; helping with a story hour for children at a local library, helping with open houses at my undergraduate institution, & volunteering at a St. Vincent de Paul Society thrift store. My undergraduate extracurriculars involved a membership in the Biology Club, an executive board member position for the National Society of Leadership & Success, & an SGA representative. I also included all of my honor society memberships & awards.
I also think it's very important to diversify your application as much as possible. I feel that LMU chooses their candidates holistically; and carefully considers all aspects of an indivdual's application when choosing people for their class.

Wow that’s amazing! I’m surprised you were wait listed and not immediately accepted. Thank you for sharing as well

Thank you @Lifegoals ! 🙂 You're welcome, if you need help with your application or anything just PM me & I'd be happy to assist!

Hey guys! Back when you originally submitted your applications, did you receive an email from LMU letting you know they received it or was it silence until interview offers?

Unfortunately guys I got the email today that the class of 2024 is now full. Good luck to everyone who made it and who will be reapplying this cycle!

I think most schools let you know they received your application and it is being processed. Schools that do earlier interviews in the fall/ rolling admissions will just send an interview invite. For LMU, I received an interview invite the same week I submitted my application (the first week of August--submit your applications as early as possible!).

Thank you!!!
Hi! I am a 2020-2021 cycle first time applicant (current LMU undergrad student). I applied to LMU-CVM on July 6th. I received an email a few days ago confirming my application. It had information about interviews, and that I should check my email regularly for an Interview invitation. My GPA is 3.9, I have volunteered and worked at a small animal hospital since 2017, and I have a small cattle farm. I'm 36 years old, so I really hope to get accepted to c/o 2025.
