Is DCOM a title 4 school? I.e. do they participate and allow scholarships from the National Health Services to pay off medical school?

I checked in to this and even though DCOM is still provisionally accredited, they qualify for Title IV & Stafford Loans because they are part of a larger university, unlike Rocky Vista.
Better if a current student comments on this.

DCOM students are elligible for Stafford loans and military scholarships, but not the National Health Services until the school is fully accredited. Since it will receive full accreditation at the end of next year with the first graduating class, you could still get three years of scholarship from them and probably tuition reimbursment (though no stipend) for the first year you'll have already completed.

So I'm kind of worried that I messed up my application. >.< After AACOMAS said my application was released, I took the advice of the LMU website which said--
"After submission of the AACOMAS application, the applicant should then immediately complete the LMU-DCOM Supplemental Application and submit it to the Office of Admissions by mailing to LMU-DCOM, Attn: Admissions, 6965 Cumberland Gap Parkway, Harrogate, TN 37752."
I immediately did it an sent it in, and also had interfolio send my LOR's. A day later I got the email from LMU with my LMU ID (I didn't not know that they would give me one...) and it says that I should include it with all correspondence. It's been a week and they still haven't cashed the $50 check... did anyone else do this? Should I call them and see if it got lost or something? I don't want to be discounted because it looks like I didn't listen to instructions... but I did do exactly what the website called for...

I just got home from work and had a message on my machine. It was from LMU and said they were calling about a potential interview. It's too late to call them this evening, so I was curious if anyone has any ideas as to what the "potential" interview might mean?
I would have thought if they had questions about my application, LOR's, or even if I was retaking the MCAT or something they would have said they had questions about my application, not a potential interview.
I've been hoping to hear from them, but now I'm a little puzzled over the message, anyone have any thoughts?

I sent in my secondary but I'm waiting for my AACOMAS to be verified. How long does that take? Would they wait till my primary is verified before they ask me for an interview? We are able and should send our secondary in as soon as we submit our primary right? How long from they received your secondary did you all get an invite?

If you just submitted your primary it will be 6-8 weeks to verify. Do not send in your LMU app until they at least have you primary (I know that much) which is after verification is finished. They won't even have your name on file until verification is over and your app has been released. I submitted my primary back in July and it didn't verify until a week or two ago.

In my correspondence with the admissions office, I was encouraged to apply as early as possible, so I also sent in my secondary before my primary was verified. I had informed them in an email that I would submit both very soon and was not told that this was a bad idea/not allowed. Based on this, I think you're fine to do so. I doubt they would just toss a secondary. My guess is they won't offer an interview until they have both the primary and secondary though. A school that tells you to immediately send the secondary is not one that is going to be screening the primary anyway.

Around 2 if I remember correctly. The housing tour is at the very end and you can opt out of that at the end if you need to leave at 1 or so. That is all on EST, so keep that in mind.
I guess I was just over analyzing the message left by admissions. I was able to call them from work today and get an interview scheduled for 11-9. I am really excited for this interview as LMU is really high on my list. Now I just have to wait until November....argggh! 🙂

I was at work when I called and spoke with Amy. I wasn't able to speak to her for long as we started getting really busy at work as soon as I called LMU. Anyway, she said the first available interview date was November 9th. I accepted that date and was then told I would get an email with further details. When I got home and checked my email, it was there. 🙂

Your check probably had to go through several people before it got deposited. If you got your LMU ID you're good. Don't sweat it.

Yeah, it's probably a policy thing. Like if you get hired for a job they arent going to come out and say it on a message, they will tell you to call and it is "very important". Same for schools I guess.

It's sometime early October. Acceptance phone calls usually go out one to two weeks post interview, however, there were a few times students who were accepted didn't receive a call for some reason and found out in the mail.
Thanks! Yeah, I totally understand the whole policy of not leaving a message. I've been pretty excited about LMU so was just freaking out a little when I first heard the message. 🙂

Any new interview invites???!!!
Got my flight booked and it looks as though I should be in early enough to make it to the pizza night at the Oasis. My flight gets into Knoxville at 2:50 pm, I think that should give me enough time to make it. Anyway, I can't wait to see the school and I look forward to meeting some of the current and future students!

I got a phone call today (Monday), and picked the first available date which is Oct. 19th.
I think I am also going to the pizza night, but not sure yet.
I am excited, but my dog died today, so I am not that excited. I guess I am OK.

I'm going to be there for the Oct 5th Interview too! Congrats. I am staying at the Cumberland Gap Inn. Hope that helps.

Yeah I got the call today too, but I didn't pick up because I was in class. What were the available dates that they gave you? I am very sorry to hear about your dog, if sure he/she is in doggy heaven!

Sorry about your dog 🙁 that's sad. But grats on the interview! They called me like 2 weeks ago and the first date they had for me was November 9. I guess they like you more than me, which I would also assume means you probably have a better chance! Grats again, and good luck!

Well, the lady said (sorry I forgot her name) the first available data was the 19th of Oct., so I picked that. I did not ask her about any other dates.
I think she just fills the dates as she calls.

I just read some of the interview questions, and somebody wrote that if they called you for an interview you get either accepted or waitlisted. There is no rejection.

how are you guys arranging your travels? What airport you are choosing and whether there is a shuttle bus service to go to LMU then back to airport and hotel? Any help appreciated, never been there and not familiar to the area much.

I was wondering is it ok for me to send in my secondaries without the LOR and be able to obtain an interview? I know that NYCOM and some other schools will take in LOR post interview. Was wondering if this school the same or the LOR must be there and completed before they send out invites? Thanks
Just Wondering what you guys are planning on saying when they ask the question 'why do you want to do rural medicine?'. I guess I don't know for sure that I want to do rural med but it is definitely an option. Should I say that at all or just go with it?

Hey Gomango I am on the nov 16th also. I will fly in on the 15th early in the morning. What airport is the best to do this...and what is the best hotel to go to? PLEASE SOMEONE HELP I NEED TO BOOK THIS THING soon.

You can fly into either the Knoxville airport or Tri-cities. They are both a little over an hour away from Harrogate. As for hotels, you should be sent options in an email. Everything is close to the school. I stayed at the one in Middlesboro when I interviewed because of the shuttle from there to the school.

I am flying to knoxville Mcghee-Tyson airport, will drive about 1-2 hrs to the holiday Inn express, stay 1 nite, check out early in the morning, put my luggage in the back of the car and leave for the airport right away after done with the interview. If I got out early, I'll check out the area and stop by somewhere for snack.
for some reason, when I called the hotel, they said that they only have 2 queen beds for students to reserve. n the hotel is in Kentucky instead of TN. That's so cool!

Kentucky has way better sales tax >.> I lived in Clarksville near the Kentucky/Tennessee border for a year. I actually really liked Tennessee,to those of you who have never been there. It's pretty in its way. 🙂
My application is complete at DCOM now... here's hoping I get to see Tennessee again (soon)!
Was there a shuttle to and from airport? I am just really trying to avoid renting a car.
I'm not sure, but I don't think there is a shuttle going to and from the airport. I just don't see it happening since the airport is so far away from the school, but perhaps someone who is certain will post.
This is almost exactly my plan! I started to book the hotel online and then remembered that they offer a discount. I guess I should call them today--hopefully they still have room. Seems odd about the 2 queen bed thing, but if they say those are booked I'll just find another hotel, or I'll just go online and book it at full price. 🙁
