I read 2600 somewhere and someone on APVMA said their rejection said 2700. They were supposed to be taking 200 this year. It’s almost like making it more holistic made it more challenging because it drew more to apply.

I want to say again-do NOT give up. I was flat out rejected last year. The vets I work for both attended LSU. One took three tries to get in and the other was pulled from the waitlist the week before class began. Anything is possible. Don’t give up, and don’t let a no steal your worth. You have already accomplished much more than the average person. I’m rooting for everyone here to get that YES.

I agree making the change towards holistic does open it up to more applicants. Double edged sword I guess. My rejection said 2776 which made my odds next to 0 HAHA made me feel honestly slightly better about it idk

That’s crazy… I wonder how many seats they left for OOS vs IS and the Arkansas and Puerto Rico seats. 200 seems like a lot for class size. Do they have the facilities to support that many people?

You can Google an article from 2022 that rolled out the plan to increase the size. They hired more staff and updated some facilities. They bumped to 175 last year so the plan was to grow a bit more this year, so it sounds like they can support the need to accept more students.

Kstate has a nice biochem class. I assume Arizona state probably has a decent one (I took other courses at asu but not biochem)

That wasn’t the reason they rejected me so I assume so haha! Very nice professor and the class set up was nice (I had varying levels of how well classes were set up being an online student at kstate!)

Last year it did the same thing, but I don’t think anyone was moved off until after the deadline.

Last year for the class of 2028, they admitted 48 OOS students out of 175. They supposedly were supposed to try to expand the class to 200 seats this year. So I would expect anywhere between 50-60 OOS seats if that is the case!

I'm going to assume at this point that they don't notify people that they've been pulled off until after April 15th, since I think we would've seen someone posting that they got pulled off by now 🤔

They will probably start to notify once people start declining their seats! Which I agree will more than likely be after national decision day

On February 1, 2025, from 9 am - 2 pm LSU SVM will have its Open House. If you are considering attending this fall, and would like to see the vet school before formally accepting just send a message, and I can help with a ride to/from airport or if you need a place to stay for a night. (I will be doing an activity from 9-2 pm so you will be on your own to wander through open house!)

From what I've heard, the OOS waitlist moves a decent amount each year! Two years ago (if I remember correctly), they went through the whole waitlist and started contacting people who were initially rejected to offer a seat.

I keep reminding myself that not everyone posts on SDN, so there may have been a lot more waitlist movement last year than we think!

Same! I got waitlisted at CSU and then have an interview at MSU, so I could very well end up in Louisiana!

I don’t think so. It explicitly said in my offer letter that as an OOS student, I’ll be paying OOS tuition for all 4 years regardless of residency status
