***lynch VMH***
Had feels the other day and now more reasons so yeah.

My guess would be that either VMH had the item previously, or she has it now.
That might just be why I was asking for people to talk about when they had items 😉

And it is usually best to let a player answer for themselves when someone asks them a question. Just saying.

I was speculating, I thought that was allowed in WW.
I'm waiting for VMH's answer. It's been asked a few times, and she's been tagged.

And it's kind of obvious from the description what it's supposed to do. As for how I know who it was used on, you obviously figured that out, but for everyone else it was used on the person who has been silenced on thread today.

I really encourage everyone to look up some Gorgon mythology, they're said to have protective abilities and my ability makes sense as a protective one.

It's allowed but when someone is under suspicion and they are being questioned it should be obvious why it is best not to help them come up with answers. It's ok, I used to do it too (probably still do sometimes, idk), just kind of one of the things you learn.

I'm curious to know how you even know who it was passed to? I got it and it's obviously going down with me when I'm lynched. Good luck using it again
I don't understand why people assume this or try to use it as an argument to keep them alive. Usually items don't disappear from the game when the person who holds them dies until later in the game, at least that I've seen. Maybe this has been different in recent games but I haven't seen anything to indicate that.

I literally have it right now and I'm assuming that answers your question.
He's asking whether you received it at the beginning of the day with normal item distribution or if someone passed it to you.

Whelp since you're all so dedicated, I suppose you've got me.

Have fun hunting my wolfy darlings. They will be most displeased with the turn of today's events.

Also, a helpful hint for all you villagers: hydrogen peroxide can help remove blood stains. Not so sure what to do about the poison in your hearts though... maybe we can just rip them out and call it a day? 😉

Also, I'll have you know that Medusa loves her statue gardens. 😉 Don't you? I wish I could have put more in them but I suppose headstones (literally!) will do.

Next time don't say you had the item that was used on you the night before, me lad. That put the nail in your coffin.

Gulp. Well. This write-up is almost moot I suppose. But, how dare a wolf steal the mod's glory?

Fried to ash and freshly lynched is @vetmedhead - the Gorgon/Medusa- WOLF who could turn players to stone if disturbed for a full day cycle, preventing them from making any appearance on the thread or in PM.

Does anyone else have the chalice today? Or did VMH really get it the night after it was used on her? I mean it could happen, but it seems unlikely.

If someone else did get it today though, say something tomorrow. I have a theory about how vmh knew about it. That's why I was commenting about it.

Do wolves ever get items off a body when they kill? Like looting it? Wondering if maybe she just looted the statue. Then again I guess DVMD may know if she were looted so maybe that doesn't work/happen.

Never heard of that happening though anything is possible

Wasn't informed the item was taken. Would assume it just moved along as items normally do in ww.

Except for the part where that is absolutely a thing corroborated by both Greek myths and common warding practices in homes in ye olden days.

They were still not protective for the heroes. Their symbols were protective but they were still not "good guys" in mythology

Depends on which mythology you go by though...

I think it was Ovid (Ov something) wrote the tale where 2 of the Gorgons were Posiedon's daughters with some ugly goddess or fish or something, so they were atrocious to look upon. They were immortal as daughters of a God.

Medusa was a priestess, the most beautiful priestess with gorgeous golden hair, at Aphrodite's high temple. Posiedon wanted her. Aphrodite forbade her priestesses from soiling themselves with men. Posiedon transformed himself into a horse and mounted her in the main hall of Aphrodite's temple.

Aphrodite was PISSED. She decided to transform Medusa into the ugliest creature she could think of, so ugly that her visage was death (petrification). That lovely golden hair was turned to snakes and she was banished to an island to be alone for the rest of her days. (In some of the first stories, she is surrounded by treasure that continuously reflects her face so she can never escape looking at the horror she has become... but then you have the mirror shield... So that part gets left out now.)

Aphrodite then alternated between placing a bounty on her head trying to kill her and sending bridegrooms to torment her that she could never know the touch of a man again.

This is why Medusa is the only mortal and technically the only one with snake hair and the only one who was so ugly that the sight of her turned you to stone.

I always thought she was more pitiful than anything: Virgin seduced by a God, and punished by a jealous Goddess who cannot punish her father and so punishes his innocent mistress.

Yes, the Ovid version (which is arguably the better known/version that has become the more repeated/accepted one) has Medusa as far more of a tragic figure, and not necessarily definitively evil in the sense of maliciousness or malevolence. Of course if you're talking about something like Theogony by Hesiod then yes the Gorgons were undeniably evil/bad in that tale.

What was it about G&T teachers and Greek mythology? And those logic puzzles with the grids, where you had to figure out everyone's last name, pet, and hobby.

Omg my favourite!! My partner bought a bunch of books with those logic puzzles a year or so back and we're slowly working through them.

Oh I loved the Greek Myths, and myths about Medusa and the Gorgons were my absolute favourite. I was the school weirdo by the time I'd hit grade 3 primary school, because we'd have to make up these little plays to perform, and while everyone else was doing mundane 'family' or 'holiday' type scenarios, I'd be with my group all excitedly going 'Let's do the story of Medusa' and they'd be looking at me like 'Okay, what's this crazy b!tch on about it?'

Still not protective.

Also tragic figures don't = good guys. Which was the point I was making.

Last night was full of bravery, treachery, and interesting happenings. Faint singing was heard again, and there was definitely a scuffle heard somewhere deep in the forest. Let's take a look at what's happening... A beautiful, white horse grazes gracefully in a clearing. But wait, she's glowing. And she's not a horse, she's a unicorn! Her head swivels around when she thinks she hears some rustling leaves... It must just be the wind. She goes back to her sweet grass, never knowing what hit her. Dead is @DVMDream, the villager unicorn.

Meanwhile, a very creative and split personality plagued being worked tirelessly in her shop. She had been creating the most helpful items, working every night to help stop this ruthless evil. As her work was nearing an end, she heard the most wonderful and breathtaking sound in all the land. She opened the door and went to the lake to find the source of the alluring noise, and well, we all know how that ends up. Dead and drowned is @caiter/@WildZoo, the villager elf.

The night ended with quick certainty as the inky darkness left the land and was replaced by dull light. Today was cloudy and misty, much unlike the bright, joyous, sunny days the magical folk were used to. Stepping outside of their dwellings, the residents prepared themselves for the horrors of the night. The cried in horror as the saw their friend the unicorn hanging from a nearby elm, her beautiful white coat stained in dark blood. Peculiarly, her once magnificent horn was missing, and she looked like nothing but a common horse. They were even more heartbroken when the elf's body washed up on shore, decapitated and bloated with water. But their morning just kept getting worse and worse. The stable hand of the gorgeous and beautiful Pegasus came running into sight, breathless and horrified. He told them the tale of how he discovered her body, with a look of horror on her face, just laying in a heap. He thought she was sleeping, until closer inspection, he rendered her dead. Dead is @nyanko, the villager Pegasus.
