Meharry Masters of Health Science Program 2021

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Do you know if that will be for the entire duration of the program?
I thinkkk it'll be for the entire duration (like the current class). I THINK haha! But all she said was "The MHS program will be virtual this year"

The MHS class of 2020 was about 85 students-ish (65 meds, 20 dents). I believe all the dents were accepted and about 50-55 meds were accepted. The current MHS class of 2021 is 128 students (102 meds, 26 dents). Acceptances haven't been fully sent out for class of '21 yet so i can't tell you how many will matriculate. We did hear on a town hall that MHS program will more than likely be virtual again this year and have a class size of 150.
Thanks for that insight! At the town hall did they by any chance elaborate on how many of next year's 150 would be med and dent?

Hi! I applied to the med school and was invited to the program-- did anyone else notice incorrect dates on their acceptance letter?

Who here is planning to relocate to Nashville or is near Nashville for the MHS program and was accepted so far?
I'm currently in Nashville so along as I am accepted I'll probably just move out, I stayed with my family for undergrad to save money, but I can tell my mom got plans for my room and want me to get accepted and leave lol 😂

Good good someone to know lol cause I’m moving down there once God blesses with the acceptance🙏🏾

I have a question for people who completed the program and earned a seat: are scholarships common/possible for MHS students when they begin Medical school?

Can someone let me know if they receive acceptance this week? Thank youuu💙
Yup I will! Hopefully a lot more of us will too hear back! I think there expanding it this year. They’ll be more students than last year. I emailed her about my status on April 23rd and she told me 3-4 weeks I’ll receive a final status. And also I sent her a letter of intent last week Wednesday. Then she replied I’ll receive a final status in the coming weeks.

Same here! I think she’s pretty much giving everybody the same response I pray we here something by the end of this week! I’m also glad they are expanding the program that gives me some sense of relaxation while I wait

Should I also send a letter of intent? I know when we all hear back I will be accepting that offer right away! So hopefully we do hear something by end of this week!

Hearing both of y'all say about the expanding does give a slight sigh of relief, I imagine the expansion due to the program being virtual maybe? Either way I am excited and hopeful

Just by curiosity, does anyone know how many people are in the MHS group chat so far?

Do you guys think that they are strict with the requirements for the linkage program

Do you guys think that they are strict with the requirements for the linkage program
Some said that in the previous year, many who didn't have the requirements got in. But then others also said that that was a one time thing because of covid and online complications and all that. And the class size almost doubling in the last year, so from what I understand, there's a lot of uncertainty with how the linkage is gonna play out.

I guess that’s a good thing then

So I would need to submit my application to the medical school this May and they’ll consider me while I complete the MHS program. Ok. That clarifies a lot! Let me know if I’m wrong please lol

Also, I was just accepted into the MHS program as well! Good luck to everyone else! I hope we all are blessed with acceptance letters 🥺❤
Hey, was it by e-mail?

Pre-Dents we probably won't hear something until June, which is kind of late. Currently looking for apartments in the Nashville area right now. Just praying for the best while also getting prepared.

I'm currently in Nashville, went to undergrad here, if you need any help adjusting or doing some apartment recon don't hesitate to ask!

You as well! I'm just working at an amazon warehouse, 4 hour shifts so I have the time plus I've already done a few apartment tours lol virtual and in person, If I can recommend anything, apartments closer to Meharry may run slightly high as Meharry is semi close to downtown and the 'Gulch' which is a pretty popular area as well, the farther away you get from Meharry the cheaper rent may get however in the random chance we are in this program and come back spring semester and they say "You will be coming to class in-person" I do recommend keeping that into perspective as you all look as well! I looked at an apartment that looked really nice in Murfreesboro TN, which to anyone unfamiliar with Nashville is about a 40 something minute drive from Meharry, and I only looked because the rent was great, saw 1-2 bedroom places for less than $1300, find you a decent roommate and y'all splitting rent $650, but any apartment recommendations I got you, just wanting to help out my future classmates and friends.

How did you hear this? There is another program that starts late June that I haven’t confirmed my seat for because I’m waiting on Meharry 🙃
