Columbia: Applied 1/15, Interviewed 2/7, Accepted 2/21
Super pumped, congrats to everyone. Anyone else coming right from undergrad, my interviewer told me only 15-20% of the class comes right from college.
Applied 12/1, Sophas sent 12/19, Interviewed 2/5, accepted 2/20Vomhorizon/JQH , thank you for the encouragement. Pretty much about to have a panic attack over here, but your words have given me hope yet. Anyone else care to share their submit/interview dates for Columbia?
Also, check your email about Financial Aid at Columbia and fill out the form!!

You mean the survey? I've filled the FAFSA..As per the Power point file that they sent across following the open house..the next step is to fill out the columbia financial aid form for which we would need a student PIN, which columbia has promised to provide us within the next 3-5 days 🙂..

i just checked the institutional aid survey form. there is no mention of MHA degree in the form . wonder which degree should we select? and also there was no need for a pin code to fill that form. i was given the option to submit the form after just entering my full name.Yeah, the survey.

oh yeah . got it . my bad.I left it blank. This is a survey, the institutional form that requires a pin, is meantioned in my post # 406 above
Congrats to everyone who got into Columbia. Does anyone know the MHA class size for Columbia? And when is the deadline to accept the offer?
When did you apply and get the interview invite from VCU? The Georgetown interview was quite chill. Just the regular questions about why MHA, why Georgetown and they did ask me about my GRE scores which were average.hey! so I have acceptances for
UPenn - MPH
Emory - MPH
GWU - MHA
Columbia - MPH
and interviews with
UMichigan - MHA
VCU - MHA
UNC - MHA
Georgetown - MHA
can anyone tell me about the interviews with these schools? What kinds of questions where asked? Did you get to talk to current students?

How long did it take to get your offer from VCU after your interview? I was told by SLU that they want an answer by March 3rd but I don't even interview with VCU until Feb 28th. Is that usual? I still have a few schools I have not heard from, UAB and Texas A&M. Although I really do like the idea of the MBA/MHA at St Louis in only two years. If I could get into a fellowship then that would be like getting a residency with one of the other programs. It all just feels very rushed. And then I just learned that I will have to take a Microeconomics class before SLU and looked on VCUs website and would probably have to take a couple of classes before beginning with them if I were accepted and wanted to attend there.

Got an email from columbia with another survey, but it keeps asking me about fast food, my eating habbits, resturants. and video games..What the heck does that have to do with the level of my financial aid?
I just filled out my survey and it did not contain any of these types of questions. Just my name, program, research interests, and leadership info.
I guess they wanted to know how much money you were going to spend on food, LOL. Kidding aside, sounds like a dumb survey.Got an email from columbia with another survey, but it keeps asking me about fast food, my eating habbits and resturants...What the heck does that have to do with the level of my financial aid?
Quick question -- I'm assuming you only applied to MHA programs... What did the process look like to join the joint degree program?Oh and one last thing. Everywhere I have interviewed has pushed a joint degree (usually an MHA/MBA) HARD. Since you can (and many do) go directly into consulting work without an MBA I haven't heard a compelling reason for doing so unless you're going for free. 'Making yourself more marketable' doesn't count as 'compelling'.

I totally agree with everything in your first post, especially #s 3, 7, & 9!
Is anyone out there deciding between Columbia and Johns Hopkins. I'm very conflicted about this

VCU gave me my offer the day I interviewed, but I think they said they only gave 3 offers that day (out of I think 8-10 of us who interviewed). UAB's admissions committee only meets 1x a month if I remember correctly, so it might be the beginning of the next month before you hear. I heard beginning of February (phone call on Friday the 7th).
I haven't been on and didn't see these posts!!! Same story here as M1716, I was accepted the day I interviewed with VCU, and they told me the same thing: That it is a rare thing to receive day of decision from them.
Feel free to reach out to UAB and ask them if you can be informed of a decision regarding your application before the 1x a month they meet. If asked correctly they will respect you for it. I did that, letting them know that I have other acceptances and was working on a decision then the program director called me back and let me know of my acceptance.
I wouldn't let the prereq part bother you because they can accept you pending on your completion of those courses. It only takes a quick may session or summer class to knock them out.
Nope not yet.Have you already heard from Columbia re: finaid, dude?
No not in-state for UCLA but I did apply for a fellowship so that may help. (I'm thinking positive) I'm definitely going to follow the money though. Cornell gave me a measly $2000 in aid. :/Hopkins is definitely still on my radar. Just found out UNC will be notifying about scholarships late March or April. I Emailed Yale about financial aid and they never got back to me womp womp. Love Hopkins' residency and the students I met there were awesome. I might choose UNC over it though for the more in-depth curriculum of a 2-year program (/CH is awesome/the south is awesome/other personal things). Maybe it would be a similar type of decision for you between Hopkins and Columbia? That said, I've really only eliminated one school at this point. Seriously, money is no joke, and if I can get a better deal at one of my schools I just might take it.
@Mha1991 are you in-state for UCLA?
I thought the same thing when I read your post, hahahaha. What day did you interview at VCU and UAB. We might have been in the same interview day! 😀We have really similar schools/situations! Did you apply to UNC?
Silent treatment from JHU. Not even a hello.
I'm deciding between Columbia and Yale at this point. (Unless UCLA gives me $$$)
