Midwestern 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Please does any one know if any one has moved from the alternate waitlist (from after an interview) this cycle yet? I was placed and i know it says not ranked or whatever but I don’t know if i should be looking into this other school and paying the fee when midwestern would be my number 1
The best advice I can give you is the deadline to pay the deposit for the school you are accepted at is 4/15. So, you really don't need to pay any deposits until then if you are still holding out hope for Midwestern. However, if it is close to the deadline I would recommend you pay the deposit for the other school. There is no guarantee for getting into Midwestern from the waitlist after 4/15. So it's just best to take the one acceptance you have rather than risking ending up with no seat come August. Good luck though. I hope you get in where you want to go.

I dont think it's a deposit for waitlist

Anyones portal still says awaiting decision? I was told they still haven’t made a decision yet and end of cycle just happened and I should be receiving an email soon. Is anyone else in the same boat?
I have also not heard anything and my status says awaiting decision.

Anyone still have an awaiting decision status on their portal? I feel like they have to send all decisions out soon because April 14th is the deadline.

Yep still waiting but not really expecting anything at this point

Does anyone know how Midwestern goes about ranking the people the waitlist? Do they even rank and do you see it moving a lot? Any helpful insight would be great! Thank you!

Does anyone know if they usually pull off the waitlist or interview waitlist by the national decision date? So April 15??

I have declined my acceptance from MWU - hoping it goes to one of you lovely waitlisted people!!! Best of luck to you all!

My admissions portals just updated with more tabs, like financial aid and student services. My status still says awaiting decision. Did everyone's portal update that way? Also, are they still making decisions? I emailed them over a week ago and have gotten no response. I feel like it is rude if they never give me a decision, even if it most likely is a rejection.

My portal updated as well to include financial aid and student services, but my status hasn't changed. Mine is decided though as an alternate. I'm sorry they haven't updated the decision for you yet. I called them a few months back and I got a response the same day, maybe try calling them on Monday?

Just called and they said my portal may be updated tomorrow. What the heck is the unsure part about that! I'm assuming that means rejection because the day to decide where people are going is tomorrow. Also the person who answered the phone seemed like she had not clue. I'm just going to assume it is a "no" and go on with my life.

That’s crazy because I called a couple hours ago and they said they’re done with interviews and I should expect an “end of cycle email” by the end of the month! Like get y’all’s stuff together and stop telling us different things!

Honestly I have no idea. It all depends on where you’re ranked on the waitlist. They pull from the waitlist every time someone declines their seat. I think they can pull off the waitlist until a week before classes start. I’m just not sure how to find out the ranking of the waitlist.
I was told they don’t pull off the waitlist as people decline their seat. There is no ranks. They will reevaluate the list after they see who declined and who accepted. This is what I’ve been told but again, anything can happen.

I accepted my seat and am looking for a roommate to get a 2/2 apt with! Message me if interested 🙂

Has anyone seen any waitlist movement? Also, did they ever send the end of cycle email??

No I haven’t seen any movement and haven’t heard of anyone getting pulled off the waitlist yet. I wish we could know what our ranking was. What is the end of cycle email?

How many people do yall think are on the waitlist?
They waitlist just about everyone they interview, unless you do something absolutely atrocious. I think there were 30 people per interview with maybe around 10 interview periods, so that's about 300 people interviewed (very rough estimate, maybe more, maybe less). AAVMC says they have 130 seats for each class, so that's potentially 170 waitlist spots (those who interviewed but weren't initially admitted). However, this year they randomly decided to admit some people without interviewing with no warning whatsoever, I'm going to guess around 30 people (but I have no idea), so that's fewer people who were accepted after interview. With that, I would say there are at least 200 people on the waitlist.

I was told they actually accepted 350 people this year knowing that everyone would not take their spots. So I would imagine the waitlist might not move too much since that's a lot of people. There's about 88 people on the c/o 2029 facebook group so far.

The lack of communication from the school really sucks. Do we have a deadline for decision? Should those of us still on the waitlist just assume we aren't getting accepted? I can't handle the waiting.

While on the waitlist I would definitely recommend getting your application going again for the cycle this year. Hopefully you won’t need it, but it will help with the stress of waiting for an update from the school(s) you may be on the waitlist for since it’ll give you something else to stress about. I restarted my applications again each cycle I was waitlisted somewhere to get the ball rolling again

Yea I have started my next cycle of apps, I'm just stressing because whether or not I get in will determine where I'm moving to this year. My parents are selling our house and I need to figure out where I'm going to live. I had hoped that decisions would be out by now.

Is anyone else still here? I was told by admissions that the latest I would hear back is April and that I would receive an email along with a change on my portal… but here we are May 1st.

I'm pretty sure interviews concluded a while ago, so I think you should treat it as a rejection and go from there. Really wish Midwestern would communicate better though.

My entire thought also being post decision day. Just wondering if anyone else can relate.

My portal is also the same. Two phone calls and three emails later, I am taking it as a rejection. I am also not reapplying because I don't want to go to a school that completely ghosts its applicants. This is completely unprofessional, in my opinion.

Can't say I blame you. It can't be that hard for Midwestern to send out so much as an email.

I’m beyond disappointed with how this school handled the admissions process. Their complete lack of professionalism—from ignoring calls and emails to failing to send timely updates—was unacceptable. The fact that some applicants portals still say “awaiting decision” is unbelievable. This committee has shown zero regard for transparency or basic communication, and it’s honestly shameful. **** Midwestern.

I couldn’t agree more. Luckily, I’m on waitlists for a couple of other schools, so I’m not longer considering Midwestern due to their poor communication skills.

Just in case anyone was still hopeful about getting off the waitlist, they sent out four hundred offers already. Don’t anticipate much (if any) movement on that list.

Do you mean over 400 people were put on the waitlist initially or was this recent?
