Midwestern Class of 2020 applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats to those that have been accepted! My interview is tomorrow -- I flew in from New England and it didn't actually click with me how far away Arizona was until the 6 hour flight. Still, I drove around Peoria and Glendale a bit and the area is really nice! I drove out to the campus earlier today to figure out where everything was and got way too excited over seeing a little group of Gambel's quails.

Best of luck to everyone interviewing tomorrow! Not sure how many of us will be there, but this is my first interview and I'm jittery nervous! I have a printed copy of my resume with me but I feel like I read earlier in this thread or another somewhere else on the forums that we don't really need this?

You don't need to have your resume with you because your interviewers will have already read through it and your personal statement but don't have access to your grades. I was the one who was asked a lot of ethical questions and was very nervous but as long as you can take a stance and explain why, you will be fine. Even though I know I went against what some of the interviewers believe I still was accepted so just be confident and above all be yourself and you will all do great!

Oh, man. I had SO much fun today. I went into Midwestern not expecting a whole lot but came out feeling blown away by pretty much everything. I even got to meet some other SDNers! :cat:

To those interviewing in the future: seriously, do not stress. My interview was so laid back and conversational that it was almost unbelievable. And it felt super fast, to boot.

I know it's super expensive and still essentially brand new, but I adored the school, and it's risen quite a bit in my estimation. It was easily my last choice, but after today... I don't know if I honestly would still say that. I was just extremely impressed. 🙂

Has anyone created a Midwestern Class of 2020 Facebook page yet?
You should start one! Although many people are probably waiting until later on to decide whether or not they will accept their offers 🙂

It was great meeting you today! 🙂 I seriously had a fantastic time and was very impressed with Midwestern as a whole. The interview was more laid back then I was expecting and I think mine went very, very well. Originally Midwestern wasn't my first choice, but it may just be my second choice now.

That being said -- I think I would love living in Glendale and love attending Midwestern.

Someone who has already accepted the offer from Midwestern needs to friend me on Facebook. It won't let me start a group without adding someone to it haha:smack:

It was nice meeting you guys!!!!!!! Good luck and lets keep each other posted!

I know this is early but anyone from alternate list got accepted yet?

I haven't heard anything from Midwestern since 10/17... this email:

"Greetings from the Office of Admissions at Midwestern University, Arizona campus. Our office has recently received all of your required application materials and your application to the College of Veterinary Medicine is complete.

Completed applications are reviewed and invitations to interview on our Glendale campus are made on a rolling basis. We will be in contact with you once a decision has been made on your application. Thank you once again for applying to Midwestern University and good luck in the admissions process."

Bad news? I would hope they'd let me know something either way... I've checked the portal numerous times and nothing on there, either

I haven't heard anything either, but I didn't even get the confirmation that they received my application until 11/6.
Since it seems that no one else has heard anything about interviews recently, I just assumed that the entire process has slowed down until they get through all the interviews that have already happened.
I would like to think that no news is good news for a rolling admissions school. It hopefully means that we're still in the running and haven't been flat out rejected.

In the same exact boat.....

I know this is early but anyone from alternate list got accepted yet?

I asked them this exact question at my interview yesterday and they said that they start pulling people off the alternate list around mid April when people have to start making decisions

This is the news I got. I actually was offered an interview a couple weeks after though. In my case it was good news. I think they might have just gotten a little backed up with all the VMCAS apps. Keep your hopes up 🙂

Ah man.... 🙁

Ah man.... 🙁

I know it is going to be hard to wait a few months, but you still have a VERY good chance of getting in. You were not denied, you were put on the waitlist which means they see a lot of potential in you. Many students will pick their state school for financial reasons and they will go through their waitlist quickly. Chin up and be proud : D

For anyone that interviewed this past Wednesday did they mention when they were going to be making decisions on these last batch of interviews? 2 weeks ago they said we should know before Christmas, but was wondering if anyone had an update?

I talked with the dean of student affairs at my interview this past Wednesday. She said that the admissions committee would be meeting again on December 16th!

Good to know I'm not the only one still waiting to hear something. I actually didn't get the "Application Status Complete" email until November 20th. I emailed them on November 18th asking what was going on with my application, and never got an actual response, but then the email came. 🙄 I wonder if it was because of the whole snafu with my third evaluator not being able to submit his LOR by the deadline due to a website glitch. When I called back in September to explain the situation the woman I spoke to was like "yeah, that's fine, he can send it to this email address," and I wonder if maybe they forgot they told me that so my app was lost in the shuffle.

I emailed them, AGAIN, and they still kinda told me the same thing that my app was up for review by vet admissions. I'm not sure what is really going on. I would just like to know either way what's happening.

I'm anxious to hear back from them too, but I honestly think that everyone should calm down. I understand people who already interviewed freaking out about hearing back, but in terms of receiving interviews, there is a huge window of time for that still.

We know that Midwestern has rolling interviews/admissions past the deadline that most other schools have. Just because you haven't heard back yet, doesn't mean that you're likely to be rejected. Hope for the best until you explicitly see the rejection letter.

Thanks for the heads up! But, wow, that's really close... crazy to think that some of us could know this next week. I need to mentally prepare myself, haha. :scared:

Hahaha! I almost didn't ask for that reason! Having a definite date is almost more intimidating than just waiting. I've got my fingers crossed for everyone and hope that Santa leaves acceptance letters in all our stockings!

Oh, geeze. That's...TOMORROW, maybe, though we might not hear until later. Gosh... I was expecting to be waiting another two or so weeks. Thanks for the update!

Of course! I wouldn't necessarily look for an email on the 16th. I would think it will take the committee most of the day to decide our fates... :nailbiting: So maybe Thursday at the earliest?

Were you waitlisted?
Not that I'm aware of, I kept emailing them monthly because I didn't see any activity on my portal or email for that matter. They also just said I'm up for review for vet admissions and nothing else. And voila, today after a LONG day at work I checked it and there were options for me. Looks like there were Feb and March availability to choose from.

So my fall semester is over and I'm ordering/sending out transcripts... does anyone happen to know what specific address Midwestern would like us to send them to? Or should I wait until I know if I am accepted first (and it sounds like I should know by the end of the week if the rumors about the committee meeting tomorrow are true)? I can't find it anywhere on the CVM website. I suppose I can shoot them an email in the morning, but I figured I'd check here first.

LOL shout out to this thread and @preciousvet. Because of your obsessive checking, I checked too and also FINALLY got invited for an interview....no words from them for 8 weeks until today....no email either
Seriously, I at first was in shock and then excitement really kicked in. Did you choose a date yet?

Not yet, Im on the quarter system so basically all of the dates available are around midterms and finals for winter quarter lol....I actually may postpone choosing a date for about two weeks until I get my syllabi for winter so I can effectively plan.
