That's annoying. I wonder what it could be based off of then?
 
My friend that was a vet on admissions a previous year said all alternates are ranked and pulled from the list by rank. It’s definitely not random.

There was a change in the admissions staff after last admissions process. Everything has been done different this year!
 
OOS alternate. In the email I received, it just says something about them not being able to discuss rankings. So I'm sure there are rankings, but maybe they aren't being as open with it as they have in previous years.
 
OOS alternate-- just called for a file review and they told me that they will not start file reviews until April 15th.

Email them. They will not penalize you for asking a question. No school will ever do that and they never have.
 
Just curious, how many people will be declining their offer? I’m on the waitlist and I don’t know what my chances are, but I’m curious... thanks!
 
Anyone declining IS? Or any other news on rank? I know at least one person is but the email they just sent said the waitlist hasn’t moved so idk if that means they haven’t declined yet or they just aren’t telling us yet.
 
I also got the email... I'm thinking they said it hasn't moved because they (normally/in previous years) wait until after April 15th to pull people off of the waitlist.

No way to tell. It depends on the year. From what I’ve been told, some years they’ve gone down into the third or fourth quartile of the waitlist. Last year they didn’t call many off at all. I could be wrong but I don’t think they made it past the first quartile.

Do you have to let them know/confirm that you want to remain on the alternate list? I thought they assume you wanted to remain unless we notified to be removed. Sorry I'm getting nervous

Nope! Only thing you’d have to update them on is if you’ve accepted a spot at another school so they can speed up the process by removing you from the waitlist but if a spot opens up they’ll give you a call otherwise
 
Hi everyone! I am waitlisted OOS for Mississippi, and getting very nervous as we approach the 16th. I am concerned because I did not receive that March email saying there has been no movement on the list (at least I can't find it). Can someone tell me what exactly the email said? Also should I contact them about not receiving the email? I have checked my spam and no sign of it, so I am very worried.

They could have only sent it to the IS waitlist. I got this email, and I am IS.
 
Has anyone heard how far down the list they’ve gone or how many seats are left in the class? I know it might be early to say haha just curious
 
Just saw the email that the class is considered filled. I am floored at how few alternates seem to have been pulled off the list this year. Really disappointing.
 
Just wanted to let everyone know I received my file review today. The advice given is incredibly helpful! Also to my fellow waitlisters- if you’re feeling discouraged, just know that they must’ve called very few off the waitlist, as my file review stated I was #7 (and was not called off). Hoping for better luck next year after improving my application!

Where on your file review did you see your rank? Mine doesn’t seem to include it

There was like a paragraph summary at the end where it said I was close to securing a seat since I was 7th on the alternate list and then suggested things I could improve.

How long did it take to get your file review?
 
I just got pulled from the waitlist but I will not be accepting!! Hope this opens a spot for someone!!

Edit: they emailed me earlier in the week saying I was top 10 of the waitlist
