Mizzou 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Do we think that we could possibly hear this week since last year decisions came out 2/7? Or unlikely and we should just wait for the following week (or two)?
Anything is possible! But I would expect something the following week or week after for sure

So I've heard that they are only allowed to offer 120 spots this year and that 35 of them are going to scholars and 40 to out of state students. Leaving only 45 for in state non-scholars... which is terribly low. Is this correct?

Thirty-three years ago, I was where you are now. I was applying to optometry school and not veterinary school, but the emotions were the same. I ran the roller coaster - certain I was going to be accepted one moment, certain I would be turned down (again!) the next.

I graduated from the University of Missouri - St Louis four years later.

I know how hard the waiting is, and the rumor mill is rife with information that would throw anyone over the ledge. I'll tell you what I tell my daughter, who is also hoping to receive acceptance from UM-CVM sometime this month.

Control what you can control. The committee will make its choices. You'll hear from them soon.
Self care is important. That includes both mental and physical care. Do something nice for you.
Let the day bring what it will. The sun will rise tomorrow. You will handle whatever is in store.

Hmm, this was not told to ambassadors..so I'm not sure. For accurate info I would email Kathy. Each class is typically limited to 130 seats and ranges from 124-128

As for scholars I do know that they are guranteed admission since PVC is an early entry program that they apply for before college and have specific academic and hour requirements they have to meet in order to remain eligible.

Average amount of OOS seats offered are 60ish unless things have changed this year.

Many from my class were actually pulled from the waitlist so keep hope! I know its stressful, you guys are doing amazing 💛🖤

How many in-state seats are there on average? I thought there were an average of about 60 in-state seats, but that doesn't add up, so I must be wrong.

I think that is how it has been in the past but due to the large, and I mean significantly larger group of scholars applying (a lot of juniors too), someone said they only have 40 oos seats.

This is horrible news 🤣

Also 60ish, of course pending the pool each year but the school tries there hardest to be 50/50 IS/OOS

With the scholar's seats, then for instate, that means there are about 30ish seats since there are 35 for scholars and then 60 OOS. Or do we think it's 35 scholars 45 IS 40 OOS. Idk I'm spiraling 🙂

I have a message out to Doug and will update when I have more accurate info. In the meantime, everyone please take a deep cleansing breath 🩷

Sorry to stress everyone out, I heard the news about the scholars and began spiraling.

No, thanks for sharing. It’s better to know and temper our expectations. Do we know if they accept more than the number for OOS knowing some will decline?

Per Doug, scholars are not necessarily IS applicants. Some choose to get residency during undergrad others don't and remain OOS. He is not aware of how many scholars there are this year but that it will depend on their residency status when they applied if they are in the IS pool or OOS pool.

Also remember that IS only competes with IS and OOS with OOS. Those pools will never "mix". It was said during the interview weekends at the banquet that 200ish applicants are IS and 300ish applicants are OOS this year. So you all are "competing" only with your respective pool

I hope this helps, hang in there!

They often tend to over accept/extend offers knowing that many will choose (especially OOS) to attend elsewhere or have already commited to a different program. 2 things to remember, if you are offered a seat in the class THE CVM CANNOT RESCIND THE OFFER even if the class is "full". The other being that given OOS is super variable with who accepts their offer the waitlist moves A LOT, especially 2-3 weeks after they start calling people off

Thank you so much for helping us!!! Appreciate it and makes me feel more relaxed.

Ok, forgive my ignorance please, who/what are scholars?

Feb 17th, 7pm. Zoom panel with current ambassadors VM1-VM4 (up to ambassador availability but we will try to have a good representation!)
This is for those that did zoom interviews/did not have a chance to attend the in person student panel.

You should be receiving an email with the link if you haven't already.

See ya there! 🐯

Everyone should! It probably has not been sent out yet. Ambassadors were just notified before I sent that message

Last year there was a zoom on Feb 1st about financial aid, decisions came out of Feb 7th and a second zoom was on Feb 8th with current students. So I guess decisions were sandwiched between. At least according to the old emails I dug through

Date change for zoom due to availability technicalities. Will now be Feb 24th @ 7pm.
Again you will receive an email with link in the near future from either Jennifer hammilton, Doug, or Kathy!

For current VM2's, the zoom was like the day after decisions were sent out. Unsure how this year will be

maybe it will be this coming Wednesday since the decisions in the past were sent out then

The waiting is driving me crazy. I am also waiting to hear from Western, who supposedly may continue interviewing into June 🤷‍♀️

Just a quick update, I am unsure if this will slightly delay decisions being released if it was going to be tomorrow but we just went remote for tomorrow (potentially Thursday also pending main campus) due to a winter storm starting tonight. Please don't panic if there is a delay, I don't know when but I am sure something is coming soon!

Hang in there, you're in the home stretch 💛🖤

In the "old days (1992 if you're counting)," US mail is how we received our notifications for admissions to graduate programs. I suspect you'll hear from email regarding your admit status, and by US (snail) mail for your admission paperwork if you're accepted.
@Alicat9152, please step in if I am in error.
Hoping for a good outcome for all here, and my daughter, who is also waiting for news...

The past several years has all been digital I am 99% sure! Included with the acceptance will be a WHOLE BUNCH of links to the "super fun" paperwork and forms you will send back to accept your seat.

So if I happen to get an acceptance, is it like the interview sign up where it’s first come first serve and if I don’t sign the paperwork fast enough they could pull my acceptance? Or can I take some time to sign it all, just til the April deadline?
