I know that morehouse is a historically black college. i was doing some research on the medical school and the school recruits minorities and those who wish to serve in underserved areas. are latinos included in this group and as a latina would i have a good chance with good stats?

From the MSAR:
Matriculant Class 2005-2006 n=180 (note that not all reported their ethnicities so the numbers are probably way off, same goes with all other schools)
Puerto Rican: 1
Other Hispanic: 2
Total Hispanic: 3
Chinese: 3
Asian Indian: 6
Pakistani: 1
Filipino: 1
Other Asian: 2
Total Asian: 12
Black: 33
White: 8

I mean, you might have a shot, but if you're banking on your race/ethnicity to get you inside versus a strong application that demonstrates a commitment to the community that it intends to serve, you may want to look elsewhere.

If you're looking at HBC's, here are the other stats:
Howard:
6 hispanics total
Meharry: 3 total out of 85

Side Note:
Florida State University (you have to be a resident, however)
Total Hispanic: 19 out of a class of 80.
University of Florida (in state preference- a few non-residents have been accepted though)
Total Hispanic: 10 out of 128
University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (larger acceptance rate for non-residents than the previous two)
Total Hispanic: 29 out of 182

Looks like your best shot, if you want to have a slight edge are Florida schools (makes sense- huge hispanic population (particularly cuban)).

Texas schools also have a rather large (if not larger than Florida's) population of hispanics there as well. Unfortuantely, you'll really need to be residents to take advantage of this (with the exception of maybe Baylor or other private schools)

Your ethnicity will not exclude you from applying to any school. If you're a good applicant whose interests reflect the school's mission, then go ahead and apply. All of the HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges/Universities) have students of all races, ethnicities, religious backgrounds, etc.
:luck:
