Has anyone heard anything? As I understand the first batch of decisions will be going out sometime this week. I hope everyone gets in. The people and school are great.

I received a package on saturday night Nov 27th that i got in. I hope it all works out well for everybody also. Good luck.

when did you interview?
what are your stats?
did the information come by way of the regular mail or buy UPS/FED EX?

thanks a great deal.
Congrats on the acceptance.

i haven't heard anything yet
when i interviewed at the end of october, Mr. Nesmith said that we wouldn't hear until the first week of December. :scared: kamal, come back and answer mdwilson's questions!

I got the letter by Us priority mail. My stats are not relevent.

I got my letter by US Priority mail as well just this weekend. My interview was a few weeks ago. It probably helps that I am a Georgia resident as well. Good luck to everyone. Hopefully the acceptances will start rolling in.

what kind of helpful info is that!
i am upset i bothered to read this entire (short but entire) thread!

just curious. what does your last name start with?

Has anyone heard if the waitlist letters or rejestion letters have gone out?

thanks

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if someone could tell me how long after being complete at Morehouse did you receive an interview invite.....and have they started giving out invites for January? 😕 Please help!!!!

I recieved a letter that says i am on HOLD. How long does it take to recieve an interview letter. and for those of you already in, what are your stats, etc. i realy don't know what else i can do to get in.

The day after I was complete, they sent me an invite to interview...my app was complete on a Monday and Mr. Nesmith says that the ad com meets every Monday, so that is probably why.

Also, the average MCAT scores are around the national average for URMs (25, I think) and GPAs are in the 3.3-3.5 range. Funny though, Mr. Nesmith said that people with 35's and 3.8s might get rejected because their goals are not in line with the school's mission! So, wanting to do primary care and/or work in underserved areas is key in your application.

a friend of mine just got waitlisted and was wondering if anyone knew anything about it? does morehouse pull alot of people off the waitlist? he is a ga resident with solid stats (3.5ish and 29).

:scared:
i'm still waiting to hear......

if i remember correctly, mr. nesmith said that morehouse does waitlist a lot of people at first because the class size is so small (~40-50 students). a waitlist spot is not really that bad at morehouse, compared to a lot of other schools that have mile-long waitlists with tiers and scores and such. of course, an acceptance would be better.

Might have waitlisted him because they figure he'll get in somewhere else and would rather offer a spot to someone who would be more likely to go to Morehouse. And I did hear that they pull people off the waitlist when a spot opens up if those people have continued to show interest in the school (sent in updates, contacted the admissions office).

This is a little off topic. Did anyone participate in the summer MD program or do research at Morehouse?

i was asked during my interview where else i'd applied.
i hope the fact that i'm a competitive applicant doesn't hurt me.
that's ridiculous. 🙄

I got a HOLD letter from Morehouse early December. Does anyone know if this is a good sign? I would love to attend to Morehouse because its close to home. Any suggestions on how I could get invited for an interview?

Thanks

I just got an interview coming up on Friday. For anyone who has already interviewed, do you have any specific advice for me? Or anything that I just be prepared for?
I got my invite in december.

1. Know your personal statement and AMCAS application.
2. Explain why you want to work for the underserved.
3. Act highly interested in the school
4. Know what sets you apart from an application that looks
the same as you on paper.

good luck! only 37 slots for females so i hung up my towel. 😀

I received a HOLD letter as well (I received mine on Monday) 🙁 I really like Morehouse and would be very happy to receive an interview there. I'm working very hard to be taken off of that HOLD status 😀

@ 48K for tuition...... 😕 good luck docJ

😱 Ouch, that's a bit steep. But right now, I'm just looking for a med school that I'll be happy at (even though it may be at a higher price than most schools..maybe...)

Thanks, LoveDoc, for the well wishes 😀

oops that's tuition, fees, and living...EVERYTHING!!!!! 👍

Thanks LoveDoc for the info. It seems that the unique question is very important at Morehouse.
Hopefully all will go well tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it.

I am on HOLD as well at MOrehouse?

what can I do to convince them to interview me?

Hi there, I contacted Morehouse on the telephone yesterday around 3:45pm. According to the secretary in the admissions office whom I spoke to, applicants can be removed off of the waitlist by sending in any additional material that may support their application. One such example are new grades/activities that have not been included already on the AMCAS application.

Hope this helps!

When I interviewed there, they seemed the most interested in people who are truly interested in the school. I think that if you call and say you are on the hold list but you are still interested in Morehouse and would love to interview there and ask if there is any additional info that they need that could help get you an interview, it might help. Showing interest definitely boosts you up there.

I got my interview invite today after calling to do a status check yesterday. I don't know if one has anything to do with the other but I guess that keeping in touch with the people in the office can't hurt.

congrats! I called today and they said that my 'hold' status won't be re-reviewed until March 5th. Anyone else get told about this re-review date? I am trying to figure out how promising this status is.

I called today and they told me the same thing.

Just a quick update: I interviewed at Morehouse Jan.28th and one of the other interviewees asked if we were interviewing for the waitlist. The answer was an out and out avoidance of a direct question. Truth be told, we were interviewing for the waitlist because Morehouse is such a small school that they would have sent out all their initial acceptances by now until someone withdraws. So when I recieved my letter telling me that I was waitlisted, I wasn't surprised.

Hey everyone. Just want to put my two cents in. I was accepted to Morehouse back in December. Don't give up hope for getting off of the waitlist. I may not attend Morehouse because of a potential scholarship to another non-rolling school. I know a couple of people who are in the same boat. You will be doctors yet! 😀 I have a friend who is a first year at MSM who was moved off the waitlist in June (classes start in July)!

Hi all! For those of you who were on pre-interview old, today was the day that Morehouse re-reviewed our applications. Has anyone heard anything, as of today?

Just checking 😀

bump

Has anyone, who was placed on pre-interview hold, heard anything, as of yet???

Nope I havent heard anything either.

me neither! I sent like 2 letters of interest already...oh well🙁
did you guys apply to howard as well? Anyone have hints to get an interview there?

Morehouse suprises me.
I got waitlisted last yr after interviews. Sent at least 5 letters of interest within a 3 month span and called the office about 4 times re-establishing my interest. I didn't get in.
This year I reapplied, hoping to get at least an interview since I was good enough to make in on the alternate list last year.
I was placed on a pre-interview hold and just got a rejection letter yesterday.
That stung really bad because I loved the school.
If I didn't already have an acceptance elsewhere, it probably would have hurt even more.
Oh well!! That's life for you.

I got the same pre-interview rejection yesterday too. It sucks, but I was surprised I wasn't rejected off the bat because my mcat scores were so low. Hang in there!!

Just received my rejection letter in the mail...I'm neither sad nor bothered by it, though...What's meant to be will be. To the poster who asked about Howard, I applied to howard as well. I telephoned several times this week to speak to someone about my application. Not surprisingly, NO ONE ANSWERED. I've given up on Howard, and am focusing my energies on schools that will treat me with more respect and humanity 😀
