MPH 2020: Applied, Accepted, Rejected, Waitlisted

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Am I the only one here who hasn’t heard from Yale? Sent for review 12/10 for SBS. Trying to be less anxious, more patient, and more accepting of whatever the outcome!
Nope, I am in the same situation here. I was sent for review on 12/13 and haven’t heard from any universities back yet... However I try to tell myself that no news is good news. Apparently Yale seems to send out decisions on Thursdays so we might hear back next week.

I was sent for review 11/20 and still haven’t heard anything... doesn’t seem like there’s any logic to how they review or send decisions

Denied from Emory for Global Health. Not a shock since I have basically no experience and am a very average applicant (just thought I’d shoot my shot lol) but luckily have already pretty much made a decision to go to USF as I couldn’t afford Emory anyways. My application now says under review for my second choice at Emory but the decision letter was just a generic one and didn’t even say global health so not sure if I should take this as a total denial for all my choices or not lol. Kind of stinks i’ll have to be denied 3 times tho!(also didn’t receive an email I just checked opus). Congrats to everyone admitted!!

Does anyone know what Yale's reputation in the public health community is? I'm curious why they have a lower ranking.

From my research, a lot of it has to do with the small size of the school. Smaller size = smaller alumni donor base = less donor money = lower rankings. That and the fact that rankings in general are pretty arbitrary.

Hello everyone,
Is there anyone also applying for MS biostats? Just a bit worried because I haven't heard anything at all.

I am applying as MS Biostatistics and I got admitted to UT Houston and George Washington University.

When I applied for MS and MPH programs I heard back from the MS programs much later than the MPH programs! Granted this was in epi and a few years ago. I wouldn’t worry too much.

Thank you for the reassurance! I guess I'll just have to sit tight!

Have an interview with Penn's program. Any tips/interviewed with them?

Anyone familiar with Emory, specifically the Health Policy and Management department? I'm currently torn between GW Health Policy and Emory HPM, but leaning towards Emory. I spoke to a couple of recent graduates from Emory (not RSPH), and both spoke very highly of the school, area, etc. I saw that Emory matriculates a fairly large class each year, so I'm wondering how crowded classes can become.

If anyone has any experience with GW Health Policy I would appreciate any/all insight!

Is anyone who has been accepted at Yale attending the admitted students day on 3/30? My wife and I are going to get a feel for the city and tour apartments. I'd love to actually put faces and names to all the support that has come from this thread!

I am! See ya then!

Hi everyone, just wondering how people are planning their out of state campus visits. Do schools offer any info on where to stay? are people doing same day flight situations? I'm trying to plan ahead but I'm not sure where to start any advice would be really helpful!

I'm planning on staying an extra day to get a better idea of the surrounding area and make sure I'd enjoy living there, but I'm also lucky to have friends living in the cities I'll be visiting, so I won't have to pay for a hotel. I personally would worry about delays for same day flights, but I'm also the kind of person that gets to the airport 4 hours early so that might just be my own paranoia hahaha. I'll bet if you called admissions for advice, they'd be able to tell you of a couple hotels in the area or otherwise connect you with someone who might have that information.

Is anyone here still waiting to hear back from Yale for the HCM track? My app was sent under review like mid-Nov. and I still haven't heard back. Are they still sending out decisions or are they mostly done? Would love any insights, thanks!

I applied around the same time and heard back early last week. Didn't get in, but it could be worth emailing them as that's what I did.

Did GWU global health epidemiology and disease control track already send out their decisions? My application was submitted on Nov 23rd and went for review on Dec 3rd. I still haven’t heard back!

Mine went for review on Nov. 30th and I heard back last Friday so you will probably hear back sometime this week

Hi all! Anyone who applied around November for the full time MPH still waiting to hear back from JHU? My application has been marked sent for review since 20th November

Me! Full-time schoolwide MPH, so the accelerated program.
Checked the portal yesterday and still under review. Although I’m international and it seems we always get our decision letters rather late...
