MPH 2020: Applied, Accepted, Rejected, Waitlisted

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone still waiting to hear from Columbia about an interview for HPM? They've had my app for about a month and I'm starting to get nervous... although I know they don't send decisions out until late January so there is still a lot of time.
I'm in the same position - applied 12/21 to the accelerated program and haven't heard anything yet.

So probably just being impatient, but I’m a little unclear. For Berkeley/UNC/Columbia and other schools with a “supplemental application”, is this where decision information would come from? Or is there another email/login direct from the department to look for? Applied on sophas 12/1 and confirmed receipt via the supplemental apps, but wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything.

I’m not sure about UNC or Berkeley, but the Columbia portal says decisions will come via email.

did folks on here get a separate email after the harvardkey set up email saying that your harvard app was complete? it's been a couple of weeks for me since i submitted and I haven't gotten the application complete confirmation email yet

I got my application complete confirmation email before the HarvardKey email.

Not entirely sure how accurate this information is, but based on last years thread it looks like the Yale video questionnaires are for those that need to submit TOEFL scores as a part of their app. Anyone able to confirm this?

Interesting question you’re raising there. I have received an email that they received my SOPHAS verified app, and then the email for the Harvard Key. But nothing else after that.
But I guess no news is good news? They haven’t send me a request for additional info either. And my other 3 apps were complete, so why shouldn’t this one be?

FYI, send in all my applications 11/30 and got verified 12/02

I would not worry. They told me about the interview 3 weeks ago but so far nobody has contacted me.
I recieved that too, but got accepted before I could do it... so I didn’t do it ‍
Good for you🙂 Congrats! Would you mind sharing your stats?

Still waiting on UT Health 🙂

Me too!

Does UT Health Houston inform the international applicants of their admission status early next year? Or do they send out immediate admission decisions? I applied to the Fall 2020 Health Promotion/Health Education MPH program.

Has anyone heard from USC? I submitted the same time as UT where I was accepted (via portal, do they send emails out?), but haven’t heard from USC. I think UT was just incredibly fast but now i’m sat here stressed about all my other apps.
Also, anyone know how long it took to get a confirmation email about their app being submitted from Emory/Boston?
I think I am realising I am the most impatient person ever.

Finally got my "received your application" email from Emory last week! Here's to hearing from more schools in the new year!

Got an email from Yale and almost passed out from anxiety, turns out that my application is "moving to the review process" and it's not an admissions decision. I feel like I already received this email like two weeks ago! Let the waiting period continue.

Had this same exact thing happen to me last Thursday, right when all of those acceptances were going out!

For anyone interested in Temple, they "approved" my request to extend my admissions deposit deadline to 3/1/2020 @rap15 . Not sure if that would be the case for everyone, it may be worth applying closer to their deadline if you're really interested. I'm glad I still have it as an option because I'm interested in the program I was accepted to and being in Philly, but it doesn't give me much confidence in their admin...

Still waiting on UT Health 🙂

My app was verified Nov 26 and I received an email from UT on Dec 2 with my log in info and was accepted on Dec 13th. This was the Austin campus so not sure if Houston takes more time but Good Luck!!!

Does anyone have info on how selective Dartmouth's on-campus MPH is?

Has anyone done their HPM interview for Columbia yet and have any advice? I just scheduled mine for this Wednesday

Good Luck on your interview!! How soon after the "Interview Information email" did you receive an email from a student to schedule your interview? Also, what dates did you receive those two separate emails? I got my interview information email on 12/8 but haven't received an email from a student yet.

Anyone still waiting up for an email from a student from Columbia to contact them for their MHA interview? i got the interview information email on 12/8 but still haven't heard from a student yet to actually set up the date and time

SOPHAS verified 11/28. I've gotten "under review" emails from all the schools. Unclear on UW's process, I'm not getting much communication from them.
I have concerns about getting funding. RPCVs out there, what are the best Coverdell MPH scholarships in your opinion? Anything else I should be looking at?

Very excited to have already heard back from JHU!

Thank you! I got the initial email from Columbia on 12/10 saying that a student would reach out to me for an interview and then a student in the program reached out to me on Monday (12/16). I’m sure that when students reach out to applicants is just dependent on when they have availability between now and January 23rd. I wouldn’t worry

It seems like all of the HPM students are in the midst of finals or going home for break so I wonder if interviews slow down? But it seems like they send out decisions right around the time everyone comes back from break?

Just did my interview for Columbia HPM and it was very conversational! 🙂

Also found out that not everybody gets interviews apparently (I thought it was a requirement of the HPM program) and you can expect to hear back in January/February if your interview is in December

are the interviews just for the MHA program or for the MPH as well?

Hey, thank you for sharing! My interview is this week. What kinds of questions did the interviewer ask? Also, did they tell you what it means to get an interview/how they choose who to interview? Are you more likely to get accepted?

My interviewer asked me general questions about my background, interest in the department, and if I’d like to highlight anything that was or wasn’t in my application. The questions were broad enough for me to add in so many different points about my application and the department that I wanted to get across. The rest of the time was filled with me asking questions.

I’m not sure how they decide who they pick for the interview. I would assume that it MAY boost your chances of acceptance only because you get to give more detail about your interests and achievements. But I also know that in a previous forum, a few people still got in without an interview
