MPH 2020: Applied, Accepted, Rejected, Waitlisted

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The admissions and financial aid processes are generally independent of each other, right? Like for example, they wouldn’t wait to release an admissions decision until you submit all your financial aid paperwork?

Heard from Rutgers on Tuesday - got the application is complete email. It said application “will be submitted to the admissions review committee for their consideration after January 3, 2020. Once they render an admissions decision, you will be notified.”
Oh when did you submit your application? I’ve yet to hear back from them.

Still waiting on a response from GWU, I submitted 11/29 so I figured it would take a while but it seems many people who submitted around then have heard back. Should I reach out or just stick it out a little longer?

So I'm assuming BU won't have their decisions out until January since their admission office is closed starting on the 24th through New Years Day...Last couple of years they have released decisions in the middle of December, I wonder why the delay this year.

I got an email from them today FINALLY saying that they passed my application along to the admission committee and that it will take 4-6weeks to hear back. I feel like I believe them with how slow they’ve been this year🙁...

HELP!
I am applying to MHA programs at JHU, GW, BU. Their scholarship deadlines are Jan 15 and BU is Jan 17th. I am worried exactly what they mean by this deadline...can I press "submit" on SOPHAS a few days beforehand and that is considered okay? Or do I have to give it a few weeks beforehand to make sure it is verified first, and THEN it counts as submitted?
I take my GRE for the first time on Dec 31 so I am conflicted on whether I should be studying rn or working on all my personal statements and supplemental questions...
Thanks in advance!

People with funding from GW - does anyone know if its flexible on timing? For example, if you wanted to start the program in spring and then do 12 months residential on campus, would you still get funding for the first part?

Did your email also include bullet points of looking at ways to fund your schooling?

I submitted my app on 11/26. I would assume that there are scholarships left but more people to compete against now that the priority deadline has past. I'm not sure how GW is with funding but hopefully they can provide you with a scholarship 🙂

Congrats on your scholarship!! Which program did you apply to? I’m trying to figure out if I should be worried or if the department I applied to is just slow.

Thank you!! I applied to the Health Policy department. Last year, some applicants received their decision in December while other applicants heard back in February (for both decision and scholarship info). Some departments are quicker than others depending on how many applications they have to review at the time. But it's still pretty early on in the process and maybe they're just waiting to send out more info all at once in the new year!

I got an email from GW saying they extended their priority deadline to Jan 15 for merit scholarships. you will be fine, but obviously submit as soon as you can so you dont run a risk at any rate.

Quick blurb: I am at least the most average student on here and only applied to one school in the area of which I now reside. Given my chances, I gave it my all on one application and hoped for the best. I did not expect to get accepted so early, but i'm glad the process is over with and now the waiting game until classes actually start in the fall, begin!!

I received it 12/19 at 10:30 am ET. Just didnt get around to posting it as it came in the middle of finals week!

Hi everyone, like a few of you before, I noticed the "supplemental" tab of my Columbia MPH portal didn't carry over all of my responses from SOPHAS. I just copied and pasted the ones that were missing today, and now it's saying i completed that portion today, 12/26. will this count against my app since it is so late?? My actual application has been completed and under review since late november.

Hi, does anyone know that how long will gre spend on sending score reports to the school and sophas?

They’re optional so I don’t think it’s a huge deal! The financial aid questions were probably the most important in my opinion and now they have those answers.
Mine did the same thing where I answered them in SOPHAS and some carried over but I didn’t realize that they didn’t all carry over before submitting it so I sent them an email and they opened it back up for me with no issue. Mine says 12/20 but they’ve had my application since 11/20, I’m not too concerned about it!

The whole process together took about a week for me in August. It’s not necessarily ETS sending your scores that takes a lot of time. It’s SOPHAS processing them. Might take a bit more time at peak times like now, bit not sure about that.

Thank you, I’m just super worried since the system still said they did not receive my grade 🙁
