Congratulations!! I'm in the same boat! :highfive: I think we have very similar goals 🙂, although it looks like you may be specializing in chronic disease? Hoping for the best for you! Can't wait to hear back from Berkeley-

Wait that's so funny, if I had stayed in California, I was considering UCSD!! I'm interested in chronic disease but I mostly looked for programs that I could get a good methods/stats background in too. Good luck with Berkeley, hopefully we'll end up as classmates (especially since you seem to love NorCal as much as I do 😍 However this waiting game....not so much:xf:)!

No! I've read previous threads and many people were taken off the waitlist and admitted!
Do you know when they were taken off the waitlist? The email said to wait until the first week of May but did those threads indicate whether they were taken off soon after?

I think it most likely depends on whether admitted students decline their offers sooner rather than later. It might vary for all those on the waitlist.

Ok. makes sense! Thanks so much for the information!

Not a problem! Hang in there... they probably told you to wait until May because admitted students have until April 15th to either accept or decline the offer. Hopefully those who know they will not attend will decline before then!

Did anyone apply for the MMI ScM or MHS at JHSPH?

Or, if you applied for anything at JHSPH, does the status of your app change from "Ready for processing" to something about going to the department for review, before the final decision is posted?
The application says submitted. But under the date submitted, it says 'application decision made' and there's a link at the bottom to take you to the decision.

😕 Well I guess then they must be sending out these decisions based on the department. I applied for the accelerated option in the department of 'Population and Family Health'. At this point all we can do is wait and keep our fingers crossed. 🙂

Yeah, I figured it might be. I'm in EHS and I haven't heard from Columbia and Emory. I submitted 11/30. UCB said there is a situation with their admissions chair, so some heard now and some will hear in a few weeks.

I'm excited to see where everyone ends up! Congrats to all who have been accepted.

Got MSPH for Health, Behavior, and Society at Johns Hopkins this morning and that concludes all the programs I've applied to!! 🙂 Good luck to those still waiting and congratulations to everyone who has heard back from their schools!

Congratulations!! Did the status of your app change to sent to department for review or something like that before you got your decision? Mine is complete and has said ready for processing for over a week now, just wondering if I'll know when it's being reviewed.

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted to Columbia! It seems that everyone who has heard back applied to their MPH programs. Has anyone applied to their MS (biostats) program?

Did anyone else apply to Columbia for the priority deadline and still not hear? Very anxious!

Mine says "application sent to department/program for review"; I submitted it back in December and they told me they started reviewing in early Jan and that it'd be 4-6 weeks ... I applied in the International Health Dept though

Does anyone know when we will start hearing about the SM2 at Harvard?

Has anyone heard from health policy from Yale? I know a lot of you have written HPM, but I'm guessing that's for the management track?

I'm still waiting too.. Yale for HPM is my last one, and I think my top choice.

In at Columbia though!!

BU :/

waitlisted at BU basically means "you're probably not going to get in" huh?

I got wait listed at BU too. I emailed and asked why and they basically said that my personal statement did not reflect that I was specifically interested in their program. If BU really is your top choice, maybe you could try emailing them asking why you were waitlisted and expressing your interest in the school? As far as people getting in off the waitlist, I have no idea how often that happens, but I'm going to withdraw my application from the waitlist so one less person to worry about!

Good luck!

Just got a 25,000 merit scholarship from Columbia!
That's awesome! Congratulations!!!

Did you have to submit your deposit/accept their offer first? How did you find out? Thanks!

Thanks! No I haven't accepted anything yet - I got the acceptance email yesterday and the award email today - and this is separate from filing FAFSA, etc. 🙂

I think it most likely depends on whether admitted students decline their offers sooner rather than later. It might vary for all those on the waitlist.
I read this from a thread from someone who was wait listed; thought this might be of some use and comfort:

"I emailed my POI and found out I made the final cut. I was told they currently have offers on the table to several, and if the person in front of me declines will determine if I am offered. "

So, maybe you should email them asking where exactly it is that you stand.

Wow, they literally told you that? Interesting. I emailed them but I didn't ask "why" questions. Just what my next steps should be and they just told me to wait until the cycle is over to hear back. Thanks so much for the information!

Undergrad School: UCLA
Undergrad GPA: 3.56
Major/Minor: Anthropology, B.S.
GradGPA (if applicable):
Grad Studies (if applicable):
GRE (including date taken) or Other Test (if applicable): 157 V (73rd percentile), 164 Q (89th percentile), 5 AW (93rd percentile), taken September 2013
Experience/Research (please, be brief): 1+ year volunteer work in hospital ER, summer medical mission in Cusco, Peru, summer research internship at city of hope (published for work), clinical rotation with a opthamologist, current full-time position as a "clinical study analyst", and office assistant in an alternative medical clinic (2.5 years).

Applied: UCLA (epi), UC Berkeley (epi/biostats), Columbia (epi), GWU (epi), SDSU (epi), Dartmouth (1 year gen. mph), NYU (community and international health), Rutgers U (epi, New Brunswick campus), BU (epi MPH and MS) [all mailed 11/14/13], Yale (mailed later: 12/12/13)
Accepted: GWU (12/16/13)!, Dartmouth (1/29/14), NYU (2/18/14), Columbia (2/20/14)!!!
Rejected:
Waitlisted: BU (1/9/14,
withdrew from wait list on 2/21/14), Yale (2/7/14)

I haven't heard any decisions yet, and I'm very nervous due to my lack of direct public health work and my crappy personal statements. My SOPHAS app was mailed 11/14/13, I thought I was early but it seems like compared to most people it was a bit late! Top choices are Berkeley/Columbia/GWU.

Good luck to everyone! I know your pain.

Edit: Asked BU why I was wait listed (2/17/14), they responded (2/20/14) that my personal statement did not reflect that my heart was really in the BUSPH program. So, I guess the moral of that story for future applicants is that if BU is your first choice school or you are really interested in going there, make sure to convey that in your personal essays and maybe even try to interact with faculty before you apply.

COngrats on Columbia!!!

What is a POI? I will right now!

Congrats to everyone who got into Columbia. Does anyone know the MHA class size for Columbia? And when is the deadline to accept the offer?

Yup! It took around 5 weeks to hear back after it switched to sent for review. I hope you hear back soon! 🙂

Long time lurker here...I've been poring over this thread and the positive vibes are awesome!

Question for those who were accepted by Michigan/went to the Interview Day. How was it? Thoughts? Advice? Mine is scheduled for late next month. I turned my application in early December and hadn't heard from them, so I finally contacted the school and received an invitation!

I also turned in my app in December to Michigan HBHE and have yet to hear anything...I'm debating whether I should contact the school. Did you email them?

I'd suggest calling them. I contacted the HMP department and spoke with Charlita Daniels, the Student Services Coordinator, who quickly checked on the status of my application and informed me that I had been selected to participate in the Interview Day. After our phone call, I received an email with the necessary registration information.

Personally, I'd prefer knowing sooner rather than later whether or not I was accepted/rejected. The silence was killing me. :dead: Good luck!

I attended the interview day 2 weeks ago. I really enjoyed it. There were at least a dozen MPH and MHSA students thought the day to answer questions and talk about the school. Everyone was extreme nice and engaging. It was a great atmosphere. I honestly wasn't seriously considering Michigan before the interview but the visit day had me considering leaving my deposit.

There was a faculty interview as well. It was a good opportunity for me to address any flaws in my application. I don't believe I would have gotten in without attending the interview day.

I received my acceptance about a week after the interview day.

Compared to other schools seems like UM is pretty good about getting back to most applicants pretty fast. I submitted mine for HBHE mid-Jan and heard back end of Jan. Maybe calling or checking your status on the website is worth a shot 🙂 Good luck!! Hope you get in!

Yeah I've been mildly stalking this thread for awhile now and it seems like everyone was hearing back from them! I've been trying to be patient but UofM is my top choice so the uncertainty has been slowly eating away at me. And for some reason, repeatedly refreshing the wolverine access website has gotten me nowhere. I'll give them a call and see what I can find out. Thanks so much for the advice you guys! Fingers crossed!

Does anyone know when will Drexel release their decidion for MPH/ Epi? thanks
