MPH / MSPH 2021: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected, Attending

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
About how long did it take people to hear back from Emory? I'm feeling discouraged 🙁
I applied on 11/27 and didn’t hear back until February 1st for BSHE concentration. I was getting worried because some people who had applied after me were getting decisions. I think every department does it differently but I’m sure you’ll hear back soon!

For those who applied to umich, what was your decision timeline?
I applied in October and heard back December 10th (acceptance) for HBHE. I applied in October and heard back the end of January (rejection) for HMP. I’m still waiting on scholarships notifications for HBHE 🙂

im waiting on popfam - im gonna assume i got waitlisted internally or something bc i applied early and have no news
I honestly don't know how this whole admission process works. I applied to other schools earlier than I did with Columbia and I still haven't heard from them.... I think everything is just done randomly. Definitely keep me posted.

Same! I applied early (in November) to Columbia and Emory and still haven't heard. I'm guessing I got rejected or waitlisted.

The one I desperately waiting for is Yale I sent in my application in on Dec 7 and went into review on 1/11 and still haven't heard anything. I'm hoping I at least get waitlisted.

How are you guys planning to pay for school if anyone doesn’t mind answering? Mostly loans?

The thought of going $60k-$70k in debt is just a tough pill to swallow
I paid off my undergrad loans two years ago, so I'm not looking forward to losing my debt-free life.
I've been working full time so I thought I had a good amount of $$ saved but when I'm adding up the cost of everything, I'm realizing don't have much.
Currently, debating on keeping my job and just doing the minimum 9 credits each semester so i can survive just off federal loans and not private.

Most likely loans. I have some money saved but it isn't enough to hold myself afloat. Definitely praying for scholarships and TA/Assistantships my second semester and second year. I think I just got in-state tuition at Umn( not too sure some weird thing in my portal can't be too sure so I emailed will keep y'all posted if it's what I hope it is.) if it is in-state tuition it just saved me ~15k. Praying for ridiculously large sums of scholarships for us all!
Hi! Do you mind letting me know where you saw that potential in-state tuition notification on the UMN portal? 🙂

Anyone still haven't heard back from BU (either via email or landing page)? My app was verified on 12/10 and I received the email stating that my app was under review on 1/11.
Verified and applied around 11/24, under review the 27th, still haven’t heard:-/

my hypothesis is that your decision notification depends on the certificate you apply to. I went under review 1/21 and was in the last batch of acceptances. my guess is you'll be in this week’s. keep refreshing your personal link, I found out on a Friday!

Anyone else having major imposter syndrome during this process?? I really went into this thinking I was a decent candidate. I was already struggling with the fact that I am just freshly 20 & ‘competing’ with applications that could have years of experience. All of my college experiences are basically in 2 years, Almost 3. COVID-19 prevented a lot of opportunities for me. I’m also a First generation college student.
I’ve only heard from three schools, Two acceptances, one rejection. No scholarships or anything yet. Makes me wonder if I should’ve waited a year to graduate, but I wanted to move on to the next step of my life.:-(

i def am too - i had confidence going in with a really cool dc internship on my resume - plus like 4 summers of internships - but feeling like all that really mattered was grades or idk i didn't actually do enough

Sorry I'm not sure if this has been asked already but has anyone heard from brown? and does anyone know the nyu turnaround time?
i applied to NYU 2/1, sent for review 2/2, and accepted today (2/11). Brown said they wouldn't start reviewing applications until the 2/1 deadline and we would hear back in 8-12 weeks

My Columbia interview was not good... only lasted 10 minutes and the interviewer was not interested at all.
Anybody else's experience? Super disappointed
Same with mine, but I heard the interviews are basically just to make sure you're a real person and that you're seriously interested in the school. I don't think it matters too much so I wouldn't stress!

I was just offered a full tuition merit scholarship to Columbia! I received an email that there was an update to my portal. Pretty shocked and absolutely over the moon right now! :soexcited:

Here's to hoping for generous financial aid packages for all of you at your top choice programs!
Oh my god! Congratulations! This is amazing!!! Stats please

Congrats!! Well-deserved! That's absolutely insane!! I think you're the first one in this thread to get a full-ride to one of the popular schools.

I had major imposter syndrome. First-gen, but I also have a disability so I don't have the time, energy, or transportation to do a ton of internships. I cried for a whole day a few weeks ago because I was convinced I wouldn't get into BU. Hang in there with scholarships two schools out of all the 4 I've heard from gave scholarships with acceptances. COVID has also presented a unique challenges with experiences. Tbh you're not missing out remote internships suck.

Has anyone who applied to Tulane in mid-late January heard anything? I'm just waiting on them and Columbia, and slowly dying in the process. My heart goes out to anyone who applied before me and is still waiting!

Ofc! I clicked on the email sent to me back when I got the acceptance the one with the subject “UPDATE - University of Minnesota School of Public Health Application” and before it would say congratulations on your acceptance etc, but now it says
Scholarships
Name: Minnesota SPH Tuition Scholarship
Status: Accept

I emailed them but no response. I also noticed in previous forums that the first round of scholarship emails came out around this time so here’s to wishful thinking 😂

I applied on 1/15 and was accepted 2/8

Thank you all so much for your kind words! I also didn't know they offered full tuition scholarships and am so so excited! My full stats are on page 3 for reference

I’m having really bad imposter syndrome as well! Especially looking at this curriculum I’m having a lot of self doubt. Lol is it me or is anyone else looking at their apps going I think I just worded this better then what it really was? Not downplaying my accomplishments it’s just lol I don’t have much experience experience compared to others
