Did anyone who got accepted to JHU get other financial aid/grants BESIDES the MTS? Or are expecting to?

I’m confused as to is I should go to UCLA or BU for epidemiology? I got a scholarship to BU and want to get a job. LA is my favorite city in the world, but UCLA isn’t trying to give me funding. What do y’all think?
From my understanding, JHU doesn't give out a lot more than the MTS scholarship outside of federal loans and work study. The second year of the program requires a practicum and capstone that is essentially an internship that you find/pick for yourself and can be paid (that part is ultimately up to you). Tuition alone is about $70k with the MTS scholarship, not including additional scholarships or funding/money you can earn through a paid internship during your practicum.Did anyone who got accepted to JHU get other financial aid/grants BESIDES the MTS? In my humble opinion, these types of specific questions are better when responded to, privately. Responding to it on this larger, general forum where it will be "stored" for years is not a good option, neither for the anonymous responder nor for the university. Forgive me if I have said something wrong.
Oh gosh.. that is not good news. I really want to go there but I don't know if I can justify the amount for the outcome of my degree as far as earning potential..From my understanding, JHU doesn't give out a lot more than the MTS scholarship outside of federal loans and work study. Glad someone finally mentioned Colorado!! Got accepted a couple weeks ago for epi and I’m psyched because I could also see myself living out there, but I’m not sure what the job prospects look like in Denver. Anyone have advice?Just accepted to Colorado School of Public Health!! Even though I got into some higher ranked programs, I absolutely love Colorado and could definitely see myself living there long term... Very tempting
Just thought I'd throw it out that the area around UCLA is one of the most expensive places to rent in the United States; the average rent for a 1 bedroom in Westwood is $2,350 and that's a 20% drop from pre-covid rents! The area within walking distance of campus is even more expensive, most people pay between $800-1000 just to share a bedroom in a mediocre apartment. If you're willing to live further from campus it's much more affordable but then you have to deal with LA traffic. I mention that only to say that I would not use cost of living as a motivator to choose UCLA but there are plenty of other reasons to come here! As you mentioned it's a great place to go if you want to stay in LA because most graduates land jobs in the region, the weather is amazing, the campus and surrounding area are beautiful, the school has a great reputation in California, etc. I can't speak too much about Fielding specifically but I've taken a bunch of public health courses here and I've loved all of my professors.Definitely politely relay to UCLA what BU offered you and see if they can match that offer and research different avenues for funding. Consider UCLA if you want to live in LA in the future, and maybe even SoCal is less expensive than Boston and worth it for the better weather! I would think that California residents get a tuition break for UCLA.
I also got into Colorado. I've been mulling over moving out there for a solid 3-5 years, I've gotten a few job offers out there over the last few years but ultimately declined because I knew grad school was on the horizon or the offer wasn't super competitive. There appears to be a lot of public health jobs in Colorado, but in Denver proper, the employer pool seems to be smaller than you would expect for a city of that size. That being said, just outside of Denver there are a ton of cities and counties that are always hiring. I keep an eye on the job postings board at the Colorado Association of Local Public Health Officials to scout for potential jobs or to get an idea of the skills, experience, and salary range for the jobs I'd want to go after once I graduate. I hope that this helps!Glad someone finally mentioned Colorado!! Thank you! I was very surprised to see they gave me full-tuition. My friend goes there and she said the highest they usually give is 75% off, so I was really honored. They told me about funding on 2/2, so about a month after I was admitted. You got full out of state tuition scholarship to Michigan??
Wow! Congratulations!! How long after your acceptance did they offer the scholarship?
No clue! I'm really looking forward to it. It's gonna determine how a lot of things pan out for me.Do you guys think Emory funding/merit info will continue to come out this week or was last weeks notifications the extent of it?
According to the past several years' forums, I see a lot of posts about Emory merit funding for next week!Do you guys think Emory funding/merit info will continue to come out this week or was last weeks notifications the extent of it?
The priority deadline for merit scholarships is today for Emory. So I would not lose hope yet, they may be coming in the next few weeks.Do you guys think Emory funding/merit info will continue to come out this week or was last weeks notifications the extent of it?
Same.... waiting on Brown and Yale.I'm honestly so exhausted at this point- I applied to my schools back in November and definitely thought I'd hear from at least one by now. Hoping for good news for us all this week!
When did you find out that Hopkins was giving you 50% off the first year? And did you apply for it or was it automatically given? me i applied in november - tried to ask but no responseIs anyone still waiting to hear back from Hopkins? I applied to the MSPH program and the website says applicants should hear back within 4 weeks of the application deadline which would’ve been the past Friday but I still haven’t received any updates through email or the portal.
me too!! i’m considering sending an email to check on the status but hopefully we get some news this weekIs anyone still waiting to hear back from Hopkins? I applied to the MSPH program and the website says applicants should hear back within 4 weeks of the application deadline which would’ve been the past Friday but I still haven’t received any updates through email or the portal.
Is today a holiday for decisions?
I'm still waiting to hear back from the MPH my application went for review after verification in December. Is anyone still waiting to hear back from Hopkins? My interview was relatively casual! The interviewer was a recent alum and I had her name after scheduling my time slot... I ended up looking her up on linkedin just to get to know her background. Overall, not an intimidating interview!Do they give any information about the interviewer before the interview. Thanks so much much for sharing your experience.
The second email they sent me with the conditions stated: Your scholarship award is contingent upon accepting your admission offer to the Rollins School of Public Health by April 15, 2021.Did everyone who received Emory scholarships have a week to decide whether or not they’d use it?
I thought about applying, but I missed the Knight Hennessey Deadline so I just figured it wasnt worth it, lol! But tbh I'm considering maybe after my MPH doing the CHPR MS (if the Knight Hennessey program came through) to be super rounded in practice and research and to experience going to cali! That's a 1 year program right?Anyone else applied to Stanford CHPR?
I don't even look forward to my Stanford decision. I was rejected the Knight Hennessy scholarship. Most likely won't be able to afford Stanford. :/ 👎👎
Thank you! I applied for the MPH in Epi programWOW! Congratulations on your scholarships for Michigan! That is incredible. What concentration did you apply for?
Hey! It was in my acceptance email. I did not apply for anything extra. They just gave it to me. I've also only seen people get the MTS so far too. Here is a screenshot from my acceptance letter. When did you find out that Hopkins was giving you 50% off the first year? And did you apply for it or was it automatically given? So far the only aid I’ve seen people have gotten from Hopkins is the MTS.
Hey there! A full ride from Emory!! That's amazing, congrats! I'm having a similar dilemma but its between a state school and Yale! Are you thinking of doing a doctorate degree? Maybe Emory is the place to be for you Masters, and your next academic pursuit could be somewhere like Yale!Just got an email that I got a full tuition scholarship to Emory!! I have been going through this weird cycle for the last hour of crying, wrangling unbelievable imposter syndrome, feeling overwhelmingly grateful, and also trying to figure out what to do since my heart is already set on Yale. On one hand it's almost irresponsible to take out the extra loans for Yale. On the other, I think I would be happier there overall and want to end up in the area for the rest of my life. Either way, I need to decide within a week so someone else can get the aid offer I have from either Emory or Yale ASAP. If anyone has any advice or words of wisdom, I would really appreciate hearing them. Feel free to PM me or respond! ...Please help 😅
Yuppp I got the same message and also submitted on 2/1 w/ a confirmation of a complete application on 2/2.. so maybe it’s a glitch?Did anyone get an email from Brown 45 minutes ago saying there's still time to submit the MPH application before their March 1 deadline? I submitted on Feb. 1 and even got confirmation that my application was complete on 2/2 from their office.
It's a glitch! Emailed the assistant director and he replied: "Thank you for your email! I'm sorry about that. You may receive two more similar emails by the end of the month as well. Please ignore them. "Yuppp I got the same message and also submitted on 2/1 w/ a confirmation of a complete application on 2/2.. so maybe it’s a glitch?
Hi! I applied too. We should be hearing back in the next 1-2 weeks. Good luck, I'm sorry to hear about KH, I hope other forms of aid come through!Anyone else applied to Stanford CHPR?

Should I waste my time checking sdn and refreshing portals until Thursday for HSPH decisions?
Hi, just curious. Did you apply to the 2 year program or the accelerated 1 year?I didn't apply to Columbia, but I was accepted to Emory HPM on 1/20!
