MPH / MSPH 2021: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected, Attending

Hi! I was recently accepted to NYU (community health science and practice) and CUNY (community health). Does anyone have any advice on which to choose?
From the research I've done on both schools, CUNY seems more catered to part-time students, while NYU is more focused on full-time students for the MPH. That's just from what I was able to discern from looking at their websites.

i didn't apply to either but my friend/coworker goes to CUNY and i would concur! she works 80% FTE at our job and i think she's taking a full course load at CUNY but it's asynchronous so it's really flexible with her job. it's tough but it helps with the financial aspect!

Just received my acceptance from the University of Maryland! Now I have to decide on a school lol. Good luck to the rest of you and may the yale and harvard odds be in your favor 🙂
Congrats! I’m still waiting lol. Which concentration did you apply to?

For those of you that have been accepted to Hopkins how much are you factoring in the cost? From what I’ve seen they’ve only been offering the MTS scholarship which is 75% off your second year. Tuition each year is like 55k . Two years ~100k. Even with the MTS you’re still paying like 70k. I love the school and program but the only thing holding me back is the cost. I don’t know if it’s worth it. Can anyone provide some insight on this?

Hopefully we find out more from Umich scholarships today!!!
Here's the email I got from UMich when I inquired:

"All of the applicants to our program get considered for departmental scholarships and our first round of funding has gone out. Our second round of funding will go out around the first week of March, however, our international scholarships extremely limited."

Oh god... what concentration did you apply for? When I’ve inquired they’ve never said that to me!! Ugh hopefully that’s not the case 😂

Has anyone done the SLU MHA/MPH Visit day interviews on Zoom? Wondering how it is and what to expect.

Got my financial aid notice from Columbia just now (deferred from the 2019/20 cycle) and it’s exactly the same as the offer they gave me last year!

Small need based scholarship and federal loans, wasn’t expecting anything drastic but hopefully scholarship opportunities open up to subsidize costs in year two!
(I’ve seen a lot of scholarships for PH but they’re mostly for second year MPH students)

If anyone has decided on Columbia, now or in the future, I’d love to connect!

Anyone still waiting on a decision from NYU? I’m starting to get discouraged 😢 sent for review 1/27 and haven’t heard anything since
There are quite a few of us still waiting! I was put into review in November so don't lose hope yet lol!

FOR ALL RUTGERS APPLICANTS, i received a generic email response from the admissions counselor. I'm annoyed because this is the same email she sent me when i applied in November

Good afternoon School of Public Health applicant,

You did it!

Your application to the Rutgers School of Public Health is now complete. Your application with the supporting documents will be submitted to the admissions review committee for their consideration. Once they render an admissions decision, you will be notified. Your expected wait time is approximately three to four weeks.

I found out from the UNC accepted students Facebook page that merit awards and financial aid packages will be distributed starting in the middle of March to early April. I guess that’s another month of waiting 😅

Just got my financial aid package from Columbia and seems like no scholarships included 🙁. Anyone get a scholarship with their financial aid package?
Also anyone get work study grant with theirs?
Not me - I only got a NEED SMS (2500/semester) + Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan (16,500/semester). 🙁

congrats! I went there for undergrad if you have any questions 🙂

Hi! I was in the same boat so I asked someone who is a current student at cuny and they basically said that if the MPH is your final degree, then they recommend a more "robust" program. This is mostly because you're less likely to get in person interaction and such. If you want to go to med school or something afterward then cuny might be the best option (in their opinion).

They went to undergrad at NYU though and said they thought the public health program was unorganized. But maybe that was for undergrad and isn't representative of the school of GPH.

It is unfortunate that if it'll be as late as April, it'll inhibit my ability to make a decision based around funding. :/ I most likely got into UMD's Epi program, which would be instate tuition for me, and with UNC it would only be instate my second year. It's a hard decision deciding between a literal dream program vs. potentially less loans.

One thing that is helping me is the fact that rent in Baltimore is relatively cheap compared to some of the other major cities where people tend to go (ex. NYC, Boston, DC). In those places it would be very hard to find anything under $1000/a month. In Baltimore I'd say $750 or less is a totally do-able budget for rent.

If I didn’t get an email/update to my portal for Columbia for financial aid today, does that mean I didn’t get any?

I heard back on Saturday! Accepted with $18,000 scholarship over two years! I was sent for review the same day, don't get discouraged yet!🙂

Are you all trying to appeal offers at multiple schools or just your top choice? I'm a little discouraged that the only school that's offered me aid thus far is Yale and am unsure where to proceed from here honestly

Anyone's name missing from Columbia applicant portal? Or has this happened to anyone in the past? Mine just says " , thank you for submitting you application and welcome to the Applicant page!"

Mine still shows my name 😳

Congrats!! Which department? Also like why is NYU so random with when they send out acceptances.. I'm trying to not check my email every five seconds but if they're sending them out on SATURDAYS.. can I ever chill

I just reached out to NYU about job and research opportunities in the Fall. Got to be proactive now. I also emailed them about financial aid packages, when they get released.

Fully rejected from Emory. Thats fine because I committed to NYU already. Waiting on Columbia and Pitt now then life can move on.

Rejections don't phase me.
May I ask why you've not withdrawn your application from the other universities? Is it just curiosity? I definitely get that 🤣
