didn't even get this and had to go to their registration website to find it and the link for the 25th doesn't work haha
They should have just switched their zoom membership or whichever platform they're using to host groups of different sizes. My work has multiple accounts for our department in case we hold large webinars with a few hundred people or if we're just using it for a small departmental meeting

*update, got the access links emailed to me after emailing the admissions email address - they said it might have gone to spam for some (didn't see it in spam in mine)

So the one today is cancelled? I left work early to tune in...I’ll be upset if that was for nothing
 
Just met with Becca, the assistant director of admissions at Yale.

I remember seeing somewhere on here that missing GRE was holding back the application for some people. I checked with her and she said whether or not GRE is submitted for this cycle does not impact the progress of an application. They will take a look at the score if it's available, but will not take into account of it much when making a decision.

Posting it here because I figured some of you might have also wondered about this while you wait for your decision. Best of luck to us all!

I still haven’t 🙁 this is the ONLY school I’m waiting on still!
And the weird thing is, BU was the first school I ever considered going to for an MPH (I came to this decision when I was still in undergrad in 2017 haha), I randomly walked around the campus when I was visiting my little sister at school that year and realized how cool it would be to go to school there and live in Boston with her (she is an undergrad at northeastern) so I’m going to feel kind of let down if I don’t get in lol

Ah, an MSc...it's the "equivalent" of an MPH here. I haven't heard of Liverpool, but London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is known worldwide for their research and prestige. Why not apply there? In terms of name recognition, it depends on what you want to do after you graduate. If you want to work outside of the UK, I would just make sure to find an accredited program (for the US it's CEPH) if applicable. You're paying money for a program, so you want to make sure it's recognized as one that meets certain standards by potential employers. Something else you can do to evaluate the program is look at their alumni page if they have one and see if they name the workplaces or countries alumni go after graduation.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I actually applied to LSHTM but was rejected for not having enough experience (I am straight out of undergrad). I actually want to work in the UK, but you are right, who knows where life will take me 🙂, I checked CEPH, and it wasn't on the international list, but neither was the London school, so I am a little confused as I know it has an international reputation.

Hi! Would you want to go to medical school at either Emory or Northwestern? I'm not saying there's a pipeline program into either if you decide on one program rather than the other, but that the connections you form while doing your MPH can potentially help you when you're applying to medical school. Hate to admit it, but medical school admissions is sometimes a matter of who you know and who will advocate for you when you're in the applicant pool.

I would also look at how the MPH program is connected to the respective medical school. For example, would you take some classes with the medical students? Do their professors teach MPH courses as well? Is there a strong, interdisciplinary relationship between the MPH program and medical school or are they housed in separate departments? Those are just some things I would ask myself while also weighing the program's quality in public health curriculum.

not cancelled but seems like they capped how many people they're allowing to attend today since it's high demand and are now offering a date on the 25th as well. I know we're only a few minutes away from the class starting but try emailing the admissions and say you registered for the class but don't have login details, maybe you can get the link if it's not already in your inbox or spam

Just to add to your advice, I was recently told that if you go to Emory, you can take classes at Emory med school completely free bc tuition is flat-rate. For those interested in going to med school post-mph, consider taking advantage of this if you go to Emory.

Still waiting on Brown, UCLA, and UMD over here :/ Admittedly I applied to UMD after the priority deadline so I figure that'll likely take a while!

I also am still waiting to hear about financial aid from Columbia! I got in on 02/02. I'd also heard back from Brown's office of financial aid recently telling me they hadn't gotten my FAFSA at all! I emailed Columbia's financial aid office last week to make sure they'd gotten my FAFSA but I haven't heard back from them either. Hopefully that means they did get it, I'm really hoping for some form of scholarship!

I'm quite worried about not getting along with them, I think I will go for a studio. The thing is, Liverpool student residencies are en suite and only the kitchen is shared, so can it really be that bad ? It is quite cheaper, so I'm still hesitating.

I did message them and they never got back to me. Well I’m disappointed; I was really looking forward to sitting in on a class

I definitely don't want to share a bedroom with anyone anymore! I had sooo many bad roommate experiences during undergrad, and after living at home for the past year I can't do it anymore haha. I also don't think I could do the whole "random roommate" thing again! If I end up at Columbia, I'm going to be living with one of my friends from school who is now working in NYC. We have pretty similar lifestyles so I think it'll (hopefully) turn out well but we're definitely going to be getting a two bedroom! I would prefer a two bathroom apartment as well but I know those are a lot rarer/more expensive and I'm fine sharing a bathroom. I'm super introverted so it's always been really tough for me to not have my own space.

If you start in fall 2021, then you need to fill out the FAFSA for 2021-2022.

Would you still get a merit aid package from schools? Yes, of course. There are several types of scholarships. There are those that are purely based on merits only, and there are those that are based on merits + needs. Then there are need-based fundings; work study is considered need-based.

When a program packages your financial aid, they will need the info on your fafsa to determine what they can offer you. It is in your best interest to submit the fasa asap if you are a domestic applicant.
 
So any idea, these were all the acceptances from Harvard? Or we can hope for something in coming weeks? Last year they sent acceptances on Thursday, waitlists on Friday and rejections on Monday. Don’t know if they will follow the same schedule this year.

I posted the same thing earlier. Based on previous years, they release decisions for the three weeks, Thu/Fri. I did not know about the Monday thingamajig.

But I am hoping HSPH will release later during the evenings. If I remember correctly some of us got the Emory email around 8PM or something.
 
Applied on 1/15 for Columbia Epi. Anyone else waiting? What is a reasonable time to wait before emailing them for update on status? Thanks.

I applied for FAFSA 2021-2022 since that’s when I’ll be starting but UCSD says I won’t get a package until the summer when they can access my fafsa

Yeaa.....so last year, it all happened over one weekend and there were no further acceptances in coming weeks (as far as I know). Don’t know about years prior to 2020

I really don't think it was the last of the acceptances either! It seems like no one here posted about getting into the MPH 65 program??

I applied on 12/1 to epi and am still waiting on a response. I emailed about 2 weeks ago and they said to expect to hear back by March 1st.

Does anyone know does Emory notify you of your scholarship package and REAL Awards together? Or is it separately?

I'm still waiting too for health policy...they emailed saying my app was complete 2/1...

Ah I see. CEPH is mostly for US schools although there's a handful of international ones that went through the process. I did a search for accreditation outside the US and this is more applicable to you. LSHTM as an institution is accredited by APHEA. Liverpool's masters in public health programme is accredited!

Adding to this, Mary also said financial aid should come out 1 week to 10 days after acceptances. (currently in the same Q+A session lol)

Also for those interested in stats. Applications increased about 30% this year (about 1,100 last year to 1,400 this year). The class size for Fall 21' will be around 245 students, which is an increase from about 210 for Fall'20.
