MPH / MSPH 2021: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected, Attending

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
highly considering colorado sph...... does anyone know if there's a group?
Considering csph as well..although I accidentally missed the diversity scholarship deadline and they didn’t offer me any funding with my acceptance :/ But I still haven’t heard back from my top choice yet. I think there was a fb group in the email they sent.

Is anyone a current Harvard M.S. student or accepted to the M.S. program? Would love more insight into the program and community ☺️

Has anyone else heard back from UC Berkeley for Epidemiology/Biostatistics, including rejections? I noticed there was a number of acceptances sent out on 2/19. I know they said that they would get back to us by mid-March, but the anxiety is getting to me! At this point, I'm starting to mentally prepare myself for rejection given the small cohort size at UC Berkeley for Epi...
i didn't realize epi was small... how small is it comparative to other epi programs?

this is something I have wondered. people have mentioned that certain schools have small sizes but most of the schools I am looking at are small?
Cornell 40 students
Yale 20 students
UCLA 20 students
Berkeley 30 students
UIUC 40 students
What schools are large for public health?

Berkeley's Epi handbook lists who's in the current cohort and the 2020-2022 cohort is 18 people, while the 2019-2021 cohort is about 22 people.
I asked an admissions representative once what the matriculation rate is, and they told me about 30-40% of those accepted actually attend and the overall acceptance rate for Epi is about 33-35%. Of course, these numbers may not mean too much now given that 1) it's possible that programs might be underfunded due to COVID and 2) more applications also due to COVID. Honestly, I would take Berkeley in a heartbeat if they accepted me hahaha

I know that Columbia and Emory take in students by the 100s across all their degree programs and concentrations with MPH-seekers making up the majority of those numbers. I remember hearing from an admissions rep from Columbia that they accept around 400+ students a year with about 70% of them for MPH (the others being MS, MHA, PhD, etc.), and Emory had an incoming of 637 students in 2020 across their degree programs, but again, with MPH-seekers making up the majority of them.

Does anyone know why Yale's MPH in Healthcare Management is not CAHME accredited? And if that has a major impact on jobs coming out of the program? Thanks!

has anyone applied to university of illinois @Chicago because i applied to them (2/1) and i didnt even get a confirmation email or anything from them saying they got my application and im super confused.. is anyone else in the same boat? 🤔
I just received notice that they received it and it was under review on 2/24.

Trying to make a decision soon so I can start meeting people and looking for housing. Heard back from all my schools and surprised and grateful to be accepted everywhere just wished for a little more funding.
Admitted: BU (+30%), Brown, Harvard (MPH 65 Nutrition), Umich, Tufts

I am mostly deciding between HSPH or brown. Wondering if I should appeal for funding for either but thinking I don’t have much leverage with just the BU 30%. Any thoughts or suggestions are much appreciated. Also my HSPH decision was released on 2/25

I have been scouring and also haven't found anything. I was also accepted there but found that because the program is newer there aren't a lot of support systems like facebook groups for the program. This school/program also seems to be a little more a la carte than other more established programs - I haven't even seen an invitation for an admitted student session or anything.

I asked a friend that did a certificate there a year or two ago, and they reported that they had also never been able to find a group. Maybe this is an opportunity to pilot a GroupMe!

Does anybody know if Columbia has sent out rejections so far? It seems like everyone is getting accepted 😱 (congrats to those of you who got admitted btw!!)

Anyone able to provide a template for appealing aid? I am interested in Tulane but they didn’t give me any aid & 60k is a lot ☹️
Second this! Hey have you heard back from UArizona yet? Lolll I am at the edge of my seat this week waiting to make a decision once I hear back from them!!

Oh, I actually didn't know this! I was thinking about switching my departments to healthcare management (currently accepted for SBS)

Yeah. I really love the integration of the curriculum between Yale's SPH and SOM, but I was surprised that it wasn't accredited (especially since other MPH in HCM programs are i.e. BU). From the research I've done, I think a lot of it has to do with case competitions (which are only open to CAHME accredited programs) and some administrative fellowships which require/prefer CAHME programs. I think a lot of it has to do with what you want to do with your degree

yeee make one!

Im just waiting for Brown and UCLA (if you don’t count the Columbia waitlist). I figure Brown will be next week or later this week but I have no idea what to expect from UCLA

Got into Emory and UCLA (finally got an official one!).

All these schools are so expensive :/

Currently debating between Cal, Columbia, and Emory for Epi.

Anyone here chosen Emory yet? Would love to hear your reasons.

Also finally reading more about Yales program, I'm starting to regret not applying lol.

Are you a non-californian? even then, UCLA is one of the few mph schools that allows tuition remission. about $7,000 off tuition when you work at least 10 hours a week. its $25,000 a year in-state. and with tuition remission a cozy 18k.
