MPH / MSPH 2021: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected, Attending

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hi! While I had above a 3.0 (3.07), it honestly was miiiiiinimal above. I had sub 3.0 like all the way until the summer before I applied, and I got into every school except UPenn and JHU (wl at davis). There is SO SO SO much hope for you. All my quantitative classes are weeeeell below a 3.0!!
congrats on your acceptances! that is absolutely amazing i am very happy for you! i applied to BU & SDSU just like you did, i really hope i get in.. the first two letters (and only letters so far) i got were rejections so i was feeling very hopeless but your experiences make me feel a bit more hopeful

Just checked my Emory portal and my application says STATUS: Admit, but I didn't receive an email. I am trying not to get excited cause I didn't get an official letter, and when you click on view decision letter on the portal it says 'No letter found'. Help!! did this happen to anyone else that got in?
Yep! If you see admit you have been accepted and should receive an official letter and email a few days after (at least that’s what happened in my case and many others a while back on the forum) congrats!!!

Thank you!!! So did you see it on the portal first too? So the letter took a few days?

Some of us for the email first and only the status on the portal was updated. The decision letter was posed days later, if I remember correctly. But like @KWMPH said, if the portal is updated, you are good!
Okay, thanks!! I didn't get an email either yet, hopefully, I get that soon🙂 Thanks again!

For those of you guys logging into the Columbia aid website, does anybody else's tuition say $0? I have all the other expenses listed though

Under the Awards tab for Columbia, under Your Resource Information, mine has $4,050.00 of "Student Contribution" and nothing else... Any idea what that means? Anyone else have the Student Contribution?

"All financial aid recipients are expected to contribute towards the Student Responsibility, which consists of the Student Contribution and Student Employment.

All incoming First-Year students have a minimum Student Contribution of $2,400 as part of their financial aid award; a contribution from student assets may be included. The expectation is that the student will earn this amount in the summer preceding their first academic year. Alternatively, students and their families may cover this amount with outside scholarships, savings, parental assistance, and/or other financing options if they choose to.

Student Employment is also part of the financial aid award. Students earn this amount during the Fall and Spring semesters. These earnings are generally used to pay for non-billed expenses, such as books/supplies and other personal expenses. This expectation is also not required, and may be covered by outside scholarships, savings, parental assistance, and/or other financing options."

What is the Student Responsibility? | Columbia Financial Aid and Educational Financing

I am guessing this applies to graduate school as well. I read through it but I still do not understand what it actually means.

Ahhh thank you for finding that! I'm curious what this means in terms of scholarships/aid... hopefully I get something!

Accepted To EMORY Epi! I would never have had the confidence to apply there if it wasn't for this forum! When I first started applying I didn't think I would get into any schools at all! Thank you to everyone on here for their support and kindness! I'd love to connect with anyone attending/thinking of attending Epi at Emory! 🙂 Congrats to everyone else on all of their acceptances!

Hi! Did you got a student ID to login once your financial package was ready? I haven't gotten one yet and I was accepted more than two weeks ago

Your student ID is on the portal. It's the C00****** thingy.

Congratulations!!! I'll most likely be seeing you there! I'm in Global Epi but we take similar classes 🙂

Hi guys, just got off a financial aid session with Emory. They said they've awarded all of their merit scholarships and Rollins Pathway awards. They're still awarding Rollins Earn and Learn money. Financial aid comes out by march 19 if you're application is complete.

I don't even know how to check my funding. Under the 'Award received' tab, it still doesn't show that I've been given any aid.

Did anyone get an error while trying to activate their financial aid account for Columbia? When I put in my student ID, it reads "We are unable to activate your account. Please contact your financial aid office and refer to Code IA."

I was accepted recently (2/25) so maybe I need to wait a little longer before getting access?

it takes a little while after your acceptance

How do you view this? I am struggling.

1) Go to this link - (Columbia University) Student Log In
2) Click Forgot Password
3) If the Forgot Password does not work and you get an error to contact the financial office or something. Try the "First-time User"
3) Use your student ID (C00****) from the admit portal and complete the questions for password recovery
4) Log back in and you should see the Menu.
5) Under the Menu are 3 items you can choose to see.

Let me know if this does not work.

Z.

You are awesome thank you zubear <3

Anytime. The website also states the following in "RED" but who reads instructions nowadays. We just want to quickly get to "show me the money" 🤣

Are you new to this site?: To sign in please enter your Student ID (starts with the letter C followed by 9 numbers) and your Password is your date of birth(MMDDCCYY). If you haven't been assigned a Student ID yet, please contact your admissions office. After logging in; you will be asked to create a new Password and create security questions.

^ yes to this 🙂 some got an email first. Some got the portal update first.

Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone else has heard back from USC? I’ve sent a couple of emails but haven’t heard back. I just wanna know the timeline :/

I think my issue was I couldn't find the landing page you had linked to begin with, aha! I hope they clarify any and all awards soon.

I completely understand. I did not know about this page at all. And I did not read any of the instructions; went straight to the login thingamajig. 😉

Hi! Did anyone apply to the concurrent MSW/MPH degree at UC Berkeley? If so, how were you notified of your acceptance into the dual degree program (versus just getting notified of admission to one or the other)? Thanks!

I did but I haven't heard back yet lol
I got an email on 3/1 telling me to check my portal and I got an admission letter to the MSW program but it didn’t mention anything about the MPH program. I’m kind of nervous! I emailed them twice already and I hope to hear back soon. Good luck to you! Let me know if you hear back from both programs.

JHU sent me another acceptance letter today for the same program I've already been accepted. lol
I mean, if you really want me that badly that you send me the letter twice, try scholarships! I think that will work better!
I'll gladly take your second acceptance letter! Still waiting on my decision!
