Nice game, all!!! Fun one!!!

I had the gun. Had we lynched Dyachei or TRH I was going to shoot the other one tonight and hope for more than just streamers. Ah well. 🙂 🙂

To answer DocE from earlier i didn't raise the tracker because I figured we had a legit seer. Thought about raising DVM but didn't know how that would go over, and dyachei was still alive at the time so figured I would save it for her.

If you're a villager with rez capability, I'm a big fan of using it earlier rather than later, precisely for what happened in this game (the ability going to the grave). I mean sure, it would be nice to raise someone with a useful ability, but in general, I think it's more important to at least raise *someone* for the numbers.

Just my take on it.

So you know, each night you had a 1/8 chance of suffering a crippling bout of oldness. Luckily (unluckily?), it only ended up happening N1.

And yes, your role was random; I laughed really hard when I saw it.

All roles were random except a few people who said they didn't have a whole lot of time got assigned no ability roles, and the only change from RNG was that kittyy got Discord at first.

HA! I was right!!!! At some point, I remember telling someone that I had no role ability I knew of, but I suspected based on the description that I might have a "negative innate ability" of being disabled or something. Was just a guess based on the role description.

Funny role. I've rarely seen roles that are *crippling* to the person given them.

At first I just wrote it as fluff, but then @StartingoverVet was like, "Why don't you make it a secret ability?" So you can blame him. 😛

I was banging my head on the keyboard. I investigated trh the night I died with the book and would of tried lynching her because she could end the lynch early twice, but already used it... Sounded wolfie to me and if it worked, would of been right for the wrong reason. Well done grasshopper, not bad for a first foray, not bad at all.

What would of happened if I got converted?

Woot! Well done dy and TRH bringing home the wolf win.

Thanks Chillbo for a fun game. 🙂

Yeah, I was worried about my ability being wolfy even before I was converted. I used it first just to try and tamp down on the bickering and second to try and build my own credibility since it was ending philliab. Poor strategy on my part.

Depending on when you died i might have still been a villager. But I didn't know I would auto convert so it would have helped out in the end anyway.

You were already were a wolf

Congrats on the win, wolves. And thanks for modding, Chillbo. It was fun 🙂

THAT was obvious. 🙄 You know what sucks?! Poeple playing at the end that don't give a damn anymore! All those "eh's" or "meh's". Pretend like you care!

I can't believe the wolves actually won.

I can. 🙄

Meh. I was chaos once I died, I really didn't care who won. Not going to pretend to care when I really didn't care. Also, meh.

Obviously wasn't talking about Chaos. They don't care who wins after they are dead.

Oh, well there was only one other person that said "meh" besides me.... and that was FFM...

I think you are mistaking his "meh" though, I read it as more an "oh well" than a "not caring".

👍

pretty much

I was more at a loss

I was thinking it was dyachei at the end, but tbh without knowing for sure did not want to lynch someone I had gained enough trust in during the game..... and enough people were not around to talk to. I had a busy day and was checking in at the end to try to see if I could drum up more discussion by suggesting I would waffle - not many people came out of the woodwork prob cause 2 of them were wolves

Thanks for the game chillbo!

I went from thinking there were 2 wolves left, to really thinking there was only 1, based on when the last no kill night was.

Should have known, since dyachei was so quiet. If you think I didn't spend time thinking about what to do, and that I wasn't mad I was on the losing side, then you are an idiot.

Kudos to Chillbo. Looks like it worked out just fine.
(Fwiw, I had little to do with this, it was pretty much all Chillbo… i just helped him clarify some ambiguous points… still waiting for my "fee" though).

My only criticism is that if you're going to have a Chaos character, they need a motivation to stay neutral. I.e. There should be a discrete benefit to helping both sides, and avoiding an alliance with either. Their win condition has to be based on keeping both sides balanced till the very end.

That's very hard to do, and I haven't seen it done well yet. Thus I dislike Chaos characters and they tend to be over-powered and not truly neutral.

Best way to do so may be to set up two chaos characters that lean towards one side or the other to win, thus offsetting benefits of both, but that's just my thoughts on that.

I think that'd be cool, but the mod would have to be very careful in the abilities allowed to either chaos. I think allowing them to communicate after death is a bit steep, especially when they've had other big abilities. I don't really care for the super powerful chaos trend lately, but that's just me 🙂

It is very difficult as a Chaos character to balance out your powers between villagers and wolves when you are just as lost as the villagers as to who the wolves are. I would argue that the best bet is to inform the Chaos character who wolves are at the beginning and then inform them that they must balance out abilities between villagers and wolves who they assist. My win condition was based on making it as "the last one standing" which means that later on in the game, I would have had to switch to assisting wolves instead of villagers. I was outed as potential Chaos on day 3, at that point, the biggest threat to my survival was being lynched, with the bigger numbers for lynching coming from villagers, so I decided to go on a bit of a wolf hunt and gain villager trust until I was able to flip my strategy towards assisting wolves. I was killed before I could switch. Even if I weren't killed and had been able to switch, my biggest power for assisting wolves would have been interfering with seering, but wolves converted the villager seer and thus it would have not helped wolves and instead harmed them.

It is not easy to assist or balance out your powers between villagers and wolves when you are oblivious to who the wolves are. Having said that, I only ever found and revealed ONE wolf myself, and that was you. The other wolves were found by other villagers, yes I may have cleared a few people on the way (but I could only seer every other night), so I did not clear that many. And, in the end, my long arse post about what I knew about each player was much more beneficial to wolves than to villagers. The point of Chaos is to win the game for themselves, which, while fun, is not an easy task.... you can't as Chaos alternate nights as to who you help out more, because one group or the other will catch on. My best bet for possibly winning this game was to start off assisting villagers (since I was discovered early) and then switch towards the end to assisting wolves. The motivation behind Chaos is to win the game by themselves at the end, this means that during the game you are going to have to align with one side a little bit to benefit yourself, once trust is gained, then you can flip on them. The problem with that is, that you piss the feck out of the other group of players (in this case, I pissed you/wolves off, probably because you were the one wolf I found and revealed in order to gain some villager trust, sorry, not sorry) and then they rant about how you weren't truly being "Chaos" when the reality is you have not had a chance to use your role to its full potential.

My ability to communicate after death is what partially helped the wolves to win, not sure why people are ranting about that still. Yes, I was a thorn in the wolves side during the game, but I only revealed ONE wolf the entire game. I am not at all sorry for the way I played, my goal was to be the last one standing, I had to piss off a wolf or the wolves at some point, I just happened to do it early on. Get over it.

Whoa there. I'm not knocking you in the slightest and I don't consider mentioning it briefly and without malice in a post-game comment to be ranting...just my own two cents on the evolution of chaos more recently.

Well, we all know how well it worked out when chaos was a thorn in both the villagers' and wolves' sides....people were plenty pissed then.

So there isn't really an easy answer here at all.

my chaos role in the SDN game of SOV's was the best I think as I was an undercover character and I had to make it to the end of the game to win.... I was required to post in the thread every day to participate and could even have actions brought against me..... I could even lynch.... but I was told who the wolves were and I was required to equally balance my misdeeds between both groups

There really is no fair way to do it otherwise - you cannot expect a chaos character to balance chaos if they have no idea who the wolves are....

my first game i considered chaos essentially an alpha wolf that wasn't aligned with the other wolves (FF7) and essentially treated them as an alpha in killing them off... i thought it worked ok, but perhaps they were over powered

in Doctor Who, there wasn't a real chaos character. River Song started out as a villager and was told she could betray the villagers and become a wolf, but WTF decided to play it 100% villager and between her and Lupin and massive amounts of great villager communication, the villagers steamrolled

in SDN, i purposely made chaos balanced (thanks for the nod TRH 😉 ). The communication after death is what screwed that game up as far as the balance...

i think i'm done with chaos though, but i might try to bring back the 2 wolf groups concept...

pretty sure you were the only "player" who liked that role.
Your winning that game angered a few.

WTF has gotten a few of my funny chaos roles… I can't even remember them anymore, but I do vaguely remember one where she was a rabies virus or something. LOL.
