It is very sad that Colleges of Veterinary Medicine still do not understand effective modern instruction. Short field trips like these really accomplish little to bring veterinary education into modern times. You are still stuck on trying to produce a jack of all trades and master of none by thinking observation is a substitute for effective in depth training that medicine and engineering provide their graduates. Many of the College of Engineering students receive a superior education to veterinarystudents through participation in co-op education programs working in their field for months with the employers who will often employ them after graduation, not just observational jaunts around the country. Maybe NCSU veterinary faculty could learn to look outside their narrow perspectives to learn from others, but I doubt that they could admit they do not know everything.
