Dear Pre-Renal Medical (and Pediatric) Residents,
I recently graduated from a West Coast Nephrology program at a prominent tertiary care facility. I am happy with the job I have now and was generally happy with the training I received.
However, Nephrology fellowships are now a buyers' market. I have compiled a list of the questions I wish I had asked back when I was applying for fellowships. Some of these questions are applicable to other specialties, as well, but they are specifically tailored to nephrology fellowship. (PDF attached.)
Nephrology fellowship is a lot of work, and I feel program directors owe it to trainees to give them good training. Perhaps by asking the right questions, you can steer clear of sub-par fellowships and encourage fellowships to provide top-notch training.
I welcome other suggestions for questions to ask, too.
Good luck with your applications!
