Nor'east Ski WWeekend (Basics) - Game Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I must fix my lynch trackers for posterity lol

Was there a writeup hint? I couldn't find it but also my brain had trouble focusing on such things.

I don't think so

If we had converted you would you have accepted? Pippy said that they would have the option of just dying lol

RNG two people from a cadre of 3. A similar thing has happened in past games (the matrix in the lounge) and we all yelled at the mod to make sure they understood that the rule they spelled out (essentially identical to what this game says) actually means that Ziggy can be selected twice. Which is what this rule set says (whether the mods realized it or not).

Let's recall I take pride in figuring out how to break games. This isn't even me though, haha, this goes back to nutmeg and some other people who realized that closed sets with redundancy is a Monty Hall problem (you accidentally created a famous statistics problem).

Done nerding out. Just had to point out that the wording matters

Hmm. I think I would have chosen death.
Why did you guys decide on killer?

DocE had already been subbed in. I was on a plane going home and Mel just decided.

I've said it a buncha times and others have said it too, but I'll say it once more.

SplendidCheerfulKentrosaurus-size_restricted.gif

and yes I chose to use the nice version of this line from the movie.

After all the "woe is me, everyone wants me to shut up" crap you spewed early game AND late game, this is rich coming from you. 🙄

I don't want to see you quit or drive you away, but I think you need to take your own advice and realize its a game. No one is coming after you personally. Always attack the logic, never attack the player.
Coming on the thread from the dead to criticize my word choice? You can literally LAY OFF

I really felt bad cray thought I would Lynch her because she couldn't defend herself

This was accounted for before starting the game, which is why in these cases, two people die rather than having one of them die twice. A similar situation actually happened in the previous game where the tiemaker is among those tied. So to prevent that person from dying twice, both people on tie die.

Ah. Well. Word it differently because that's NOT what your rules say. You ended up writing out a very famous statistics problem with a known odds set

Mind you: I know why you interpreted it the way you did. But you would be getting hell from lounge people for this. Absolute hell. Because they've actually run into this before and gave the mod an education on statistics before the day round ended haha

This is the second time ZJ kept me from winning at end game. I've decided I'm not keeping her around that long again 😉
Foiled again
So uh...can I ask about that fake seer claim from coffee...because...wow guys 🤣
that was hilarious
AHHH. I just caught up. My last suspicion before dying was correct wow. Good game peeps. Thanks to all the mods. 🙂 Also @ziggyandjazzy i appreciated all the quoted posts after I died made me feel like people were listening to me and made me feel special, even if my posts provided no help whatsoever. Also the tie plan was great, I was happy in dead chat.
Of course!! I think it did help because it made me question Dina a lot. I felt really sad when I died and no one cared lol so I try to care

Maybe wolves will kill me before LyLo now. Or I will just retire. :oldman:
Lol, I would've been genuinely upset if you were wolf haha

If anyone wants to be added to the dead chat, kindly let us know!
me please ty
"Caution! Wind advisory!"
I LITERALLY CALLED THAT I SAID IT ON THREAD. "why is it windy?"

Yeah I'm familiar with the Monty Hall problem and understand the ambiguities you listed. But dying twice isn't seen in WW games (at least from what I saw in prevet). It was implicitly assumed that RNG 2 people between tied and tiemaker refers to 2 different people as opposed to 1 person twice. But clearer wording would help.

I didn't quote your posts but your final read (and sobsob's) being Dina did help me feel better about it.

I still can't believe cheezit never pushed a wolf...

never

and we broke the streak!

also, I'm a sadist, so pretty sure if I wolf you're never gonna die :vamp:
unless you get too close to the truth, of course
Cray. You must. You must. Kill me before LyLo. Please.

Also don't convert me. No one convert me. Ever. I don't want to ruin my record lol

Good this isn't the lounge, then 😉

I clarified this like 3 times on the thread, and all the current players understood the rule, so I'm not sure what the real issue is here.

If you are still confused by the use of "RNG," the RNG part is that if there were more than 2 people tied, we would choose 2 to die between the tied players and the tie maker. The mechanism was "pick 2", not "equally distribute chance of dying vs not dying."

Game couldn't be complete without a "this wouldn't fly in the lounge" comment. Was worried there wouldn't be one.

so it wasn't actually stupid that I kept questioning just how these ties and RNGs worked, and the actual outcomes

did not make sense to me
sadly, that isn't always a sign things don't make sense in reality, but sometimes

Yeah but that isn't what you wrote. It's what you meant to write but not what you actually wrote.

But I get that you clarified it on the thread. But still.... I'm a lounge person. We wouldn't accept rules "changing" mid game. we actually have told mods their interpretation is wrong before over this exact issue haha. My third game ever. So I was just being curmudgeonly

Thank you! I appreciate providing reassurance lol. 😍

I remember this now
I probably read all the writeups at least three times and never caught it myself lol

Note to self, sometimes I notice things

Also the snow conditions were "Drifting powder" when conversion got unlocked, and "variable/drifts" when it was used.

...liiiiterally said "variable" & "drifting" conditions on the thread lol

Tbh I wasn't reading those parts lol

Probably a good thing, I might have fallen down some Cthulhu hole

I never thought you were trying to be mean. I thought you were trying to be a wolf going for a mislynch or a mistaken villager!

that would be a common wolf strategy, to try to pick someone for mislynch that they suspected wouldn't be able to put up a good defense

it's OK to do something "unfair" like pick on someone who you know for real life reasons won't be around, if you're a wolf trying to win

the only "bad" part of such a strategy is if it's obvious and backfires for the wolves - it's OK for wolves to do whatever it takes to win, even if it's really, really mean

it's OK for villagers to also go after silent players or those who aren't around, if they're sincerely trying to get a wolf, the only issue is that it's often better for villagers to try to go after suspects who are around to defend, just because it increases the likelihood that if the villager is wrong and the suspect is village, they can have a chance for everyone to participate and figure it all out.

the other issue with villagers doing that too, is that it can look wolfy, so another reason for villagers to try to engage with each other, and in general encourage discussion from all corners

Either way, no matter what your affiliation was, going after me even though I was going to be gone, and at lylo when you have to do whatever you have to do no matter what, was not wrong. But depending on context it could look a certain way. We just got stuck pointing the finger at each other, and that was as much my bad as anyone. At the end of the day, you both stuck by your guns and also reconsidered where it counted. And I just ranted.

I'm really, really sorry I was so hard on you. We both missed the forest for the trees on a few points.

to be fair, I never understood it. But is that significant? (cwidt?)

I never stopped to realize the villager in the wolf tie wouldn't be happy about it. But alas, unfortunately I don't always think of others when I come up with what I consider brilliant plans

Choice selections from my role PM, a respectable 4 pages

AM - liking too many of my posts. then again, I am hilarious.
barks - finding justification for her vote way after the fact? and in a kind of hedgey way. feels weird.
cheezit - unsure if reaching type of shade a la Orchestra or normal type of shade a la hiking and Colorado

Thought: are the people voting for me looking for that courtesy village read? 😱
*quiets yesterday's AM freakout*
I haven't gone back to read posts from Orchestra and Mattress Store though. I'm too scared.
Wut do I do when cheezit and AM are questioning each other???
I think AM has been triggered by the idea of a conversion of a neighbor. Poor thing lol
Hopefully coffee actually dies today.

I've thought it through and there will just be too much info from a cheezit lynch for me to ignore.
If I'm right and he's a wolf, hooray!
If I'm wrong and he's a villager, at least I'll know it's time to lynch SOV.

Meanwhile, if I lynch SOV first, and he's village, I'm not sure that I'll know for sure cheezit is a wolf. Like it might be more likely, but not as solid.

And if cheezit is village and has been wrong about SOV this while time, I feel like that's still a win-win for me 🤣

Anyway, off to study...
+pissed+
And now I'm probably going to get lynched because I'm an idiot

Ah well. We got the woof. That's the important part.
I'm so mad at myself. How dare. How dare I throw away my perfect cheezit lynch.
My theme for this game seems to be "lynch the right person and then freak out about it and lynch the wrong person"

Good to know my soul reads are still decent -_-

@ziggyandjazzy might appreciate this
Am I dead yet? I feel I have outlived my usefulness here 😛
The closer we get to lylo, the closer I get to losing my mind. I'm basically a ticking time bomb!
I got out of the lynch, but was it worth it? In the end?

Why can't I ever let myself die
I hope the wolf decides to kill me tonight. I would like to be ded.
Omg please let me be dead...
I can already feel the tinfoil.
I should just keep lynching dina probably but what if I'm wrong and I should be lynching zig? But what if that thought is just the thing I do at LyLo where I turn on my village reads? H e l p.
Double post for death
I'm going to lynch myself

does this mean I am going to die
tonight when coffee flips wolf lol
hoping they just kill someone I have questions about.
I didn't die??
do I get to die tonight :heckyeah:
Wait I rethought that I don't wanna die I don't want to be in dead chat with coffee
why are they being all suspicious of me I want to die
I was going to ask plz kill someone I am suspicious of but I have no village leans woe is me
whose death have I not avenged
what was with that strong wind business
I don't understand why they are killing who they are killing and not me
Dina seeming suspect I remember her not going for mel several times...
**** is it dina or dubs
or someone else **** ****
how many times do I have to say I want to die

I hope it happens tonight.
unfortunately def not going to die tonight

someone more valiantly villager will take that honor
why do I always live till the end of the game
I'm not sure it's that lucky... I'm bad enough not to get NKd but not so bad I get lynched, I think. plus the wolves keep trying to make conspiracies around me!!
I do not want to get to end game tomorrow with me and two sketchy ass people
that would be so annoying if cray was wolf
dear god, all I can hope for is that you kill me
is dubs seeing what I'm seeing? is that why she said she hopes she doesn't stick around? reverse psychology to get cray to keep her so she can Lynch her

what is wrong with me
please, if cray is village, please kill her tonight
oh here are some gems, there are even more lol but I will leave it to this for now
