Hey, ya'll - it's about time you started this thread! Ours last year was pages long by this time
😉 (just to throw in a little pinch of class competition, even though I swear there's none of that here)
Shik - I'm so sad you two won't be moving here in the Fall, but I'm happy that you'll be enjoying lovely Philly - it's also a great place. It was really great meeting you, best of luck to you but please give your girlfriend even more of my good wishes! After being through a first year of TFA and a first year of med school, I have to say hands down that TFA is the more challenging of the two. Be extra super nice to her next year, she's got a tough and incredibly important job
😉
About apartments - I definitely think Mt. Vernon or Charles Village are the places to look, both for affordability and ease of transportation, you really can't beat the free shuttle. If you are looking to buy, though, I think that Mt Vernon is uber-expensive and Canton is more reasonable for purchasing homes, I could be wrong, though, I'm just a renter. Federal Hill might also be a place to look for buying. Again, Mt Vernon rocks for getting around - I'll be working in DC this summer and it's a 2 minute walk to Penn Station for me and for just $120 a month I can commute with ease on the MARC train
🙂 Which is an option if you live outside of the city, find a place close to the MARC train line like Linthconium.
Feel free to email me if you have questions - I'm pretty sure there are some of my classmates (I know one for certain) who have apartments and need roommates - if you send me an email I can get the word out that you are looking for a place. There's also a housing office in Reed Hall that has a binder of people looking for roommates, that is a good resource. Living off campus takes more work and an extra trip to Baltimore than living in Reed, but for me it was completely worth it. Now, back to cardiology, I'm being a slacker right now - but only a week an a half left until SUMMER!!!
🙂
