forthcoming
ctwickman said:Well, no offense, but that is their problem. A lot of people get pulled off the waitlist so it sure beats a rejection and to be quite frank the reason for this poll is to get at the bottom of the lingo, because none of us, including me, are sure what "pending" even means. Are you sure it means a waitlist?
GuyLaroche said:This morning, the status page yelled out:
"
Hey GuyLaroche!
A final decision is forthcoming".
To which I respond: Care factor approaching zero.

I have a feeling this could mean rejected just as easily as accepted...

ctwickman said:Someone else came up with the pending=waitlist idea. I said it "COULD be a waitlist" which merely means, "Sure, it's possible." The "pending" thing is a mystery to me and is why this poll might be useful. I can only surmise "pending" = "hold your horses" for another few days but that's just my own 2 cents.
The only thing I do know, however, is that in the past 3 cycles, forthcoming has = acceptance. I base this merely on reading and posting in NU threads for the past year and a half. Everyone who got a "forthcoming" got in.

Congratulations! I hope you come here because it is a great school, great city, and to add it all up it is is actually a great TIME and you can't say that for most med school experiences.
If you can still log in and it says "pending" you haven't been rejected or accepted yet so just wait a week and see what happens.
absps1983 said:mine also just changed within the hour... i'm forthcoming now.

ctwickman said:If that's the case, then you should be a nice little GuyLaroche and call up the admissions office, and withdraw your application for others in here. Funny though---why haven't you withdrawn already anyway? You are supposed to withdraw from schools you are not interested in as soon as possible for those who are. That's the right thing to do.
Acceptance rate post interview is 40%. There is a very, very high probability that many will get in. So, relax people. Plus if I get in, I'll withdraw immediately. Since I am on a withdrawal high (contradiction in terms), I might just go ahead and withdraw now.sweatybrain said:maybe all of us are accepted 😀

if that's true (and it sounds plausible), then why the hell would they do that? do they just like screwing with the people they're waitlisting? i'm sure they could easily change everybody's status at the same time.starfruit said:If you look at spring 2003 decisions, everyone's status pages changed eventually, but the TIMING of the status changes was key. All of those that year that had a status change on Friday 3/21 were accepted, and all who had a status change on Monday 3/24 were WL or rejected. This historical pattern does not bode well for people whose status changed today, unfortunately. 🙁
