*****Official PASS 2026 Endodontic Residency Interviews/Information***

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Guys, the interview is very important. Your ranks got you the interview. The interviews i cannot stress this enough can make you or break you. I got in because of my personality (thats what the PD and the chair told me). Also I got ask regarding about AAE POSITION PAPERS. Some of them I don't know then i answer honestly; I don't know. Some of them I know then they are impressed with my answers (or pretends to be?)

Did you apply once before to the eventual school that picked you up or was it first time applying at that specific school? I'm assuming if a program reviews an application and it's not much changed, probably won't choose to interview that applicant the second time seeing the application? Just hypotheticals friend; I have no idea how this process really works.
No the first time I applied to that school they never even give me an interview. The second time, nothing change in my application but I got invite from the school that never give me an interview. I figured the Program director must woke up the wrong side of the bed the first time . But apply broadly gave me 5 interviews so make me feel confident too meant that the first 2 interviews I bombed so bad (where I sound like a broken record, like ROBOT). The third interview (the paid program) I did well because all i do is BEING MYSELF (AND BEING FUNNY)

How many schools did you apply?

How much does AAE matter? I’m based abroad so it would be logistically challenging to attend a conference

It only gives you an advantage if you can shake hands with the right director… and it’s better if you somewhat have known them from some sort of connection. I think the cat is out of the bag and many more applicants will be going to AAE. The directors will get annoyed if applicants they don’t know keep coming up to them.

The AAE is more so to get an idea of what being an endodontist is like and connect with residents and applicants. If it’s a lot of inconvenience for you to go to AAE, I would not necessarily go, especially if you have a strong application. None of my future coresidents went to AAE, so don’t have the false impression that going will significantly increase your chances. I personally think it helped me get interviews, but I had connected with PDs prior to AAE.

I heard my friend say every interview they asked if you went to AAE so I figured it was an important factor

Hi everyone,
I was recently accepted into an endodontic residency program, and I just found out the full cost of tuition is close to $100,000/year (the website did not have this information available). I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity, but I’m now facing a big financial concern.

With the current federal graduate loan cap at $20,500 (after Trump’s BBB), the remaining balance would have to be covered by private loans. I’m worried I won’t qualify for $200,000+ because I don’t have a strong credit history—I recently graduated and have dental school loans.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Do you have any advice on how to secure funding or what steps I should take next? And what happens if I can’t secure enough loans before the program starts. Has anyone deferred or renegotiated their situation?

Any input would be really appreciated. I’m feeling a bit lost and anxious and want to make sure I don’t miss out on this opportunity if there’s a path forward.

I was asked about AAE at nearly every interview. Definitely important regardless of whose hands you shake.

I only got asked if I was an AAE member at one interview, but my impression was that going or not going to AAE doesn't have a high benefit to risk ratio. You can feel out the decision for yourself as the costs of attending and travel can add up.

Accepted as well and got asked if I went to the AAE meeting at all 3 of my interviews, and when I said yes I got asked to tell them about a lecture I went to. Never got asked if I was a member of AAE though
