***Official Roseman University Class of 2021 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

Congrats!!! Can I ask when you were notified? Were you given options for when to schedule?

I received an email on Monday and called immediately. They only gave me the option for February 10th, but I must have been last on the list for that invite date since your option was the 24th only two days after.

People that got accepted, how long after your interview date did they notify you of your decision?

Hello everyone. Would anyone happen to know what the interview format is? One-on-one interview with a faculty member? Multiple interviews with different faculty members and/or students? Thank so much!!!

3-on-1. 2 faculty and 1 student. This is how it was for me at least.

Are they done sending out interview invites? Have they sent out rejections for people who haven't interviewed yet?

Do you know Roseman's match rates for this/last year?

For my year I believe there was about 20/25 people who matched. I'm actually not 100 on the numbers off the top of my head but I just know about 5 people who didn't match but 3 of them decided to go post match.

We have 1/1 pedo 1/3 omfs 1/2 ortho in my class.

Anyone from the 1/20/17 interview group not been called back? I called last week and admission said they're still reviewing.

No man this is very unprofessional. They told everyone they would tell us in a week, and now I'm pretty sure they're gonna interview again and compare 1/20 with the February interviews. Also 120k for dental school!?!? Are u kidding me lol they should be happy people are even applying to that program. I guess that's why they make it impossible to fail, it's essentially paying for the degree.

Paying for a degree - lol! Check out this thread before you judge: https://forums.studentdoctor.net/th...usly-expensive-dental-schools-thread.1223909/

I'm a D2, love this school (except the cost), though Roseman isn't even top 15 most expensive, and cost of living in UT is better than a lot of places.

Then why did you apply there? They aren't hiding the fact they are a private school.
If you think you are paying for a degree then don't go there. If you get in of course.

Then I guess it's a good thing you weren't chosen for the class. The school presents many with the opportunity to fulfill their dreams of helping others through oral healthcare, and to me that is beyond worth the cost. Also, you knew how much it cost before you applied? Sounds to me like you're just bitter

Also if he paid attention to the break down, around 35 k is living cost. If you can spend 35k in a year living as a dental student in Utah.... no words.

Lol u guys need to chill! I only applied because it was ranked extremely low and easy to get in. I didn't think cost would matter to me at the time, but I don't wanna be in debt till I'm 50. You guys can justify taking out half a million in loans however you'd like, but unless the pay out is half your loans it's honestly not worth it imo. And relax lol I was offered a seat yesterday, but I'm not gonna go there. It's a nice school and curriculum, but not worth it. Also I'm only a junior and 20 lol and I don't even have my bachelors, but this school still accepted me! Im pretty sure they'll take anyone. I mean good luck to you guys, oh and if u try to open a private practice that'll cost a bit more too afterwards. So you can look forward to being 1 million in debt before your 30 years old! #LifeGoals Hopefully one of u guys gets my spot! Good luck homies
Lol you sound 20.

Also about the scrub color... they've alwasy chosen for you. But this last year the D1s chose their own color and they chose black (noobs...). They had the option of choosing a few different colors and they decided not to. The dean has floated the idea of having anyone wear a few different approved colors regardless of year in school but I think he's gotten some resistance on that.

Do you know Roseman's match rates for this/last year?

I just know the OMS. 2 years ago 1/1. Last year 1/2 but he reapplied this year and got in. This year is 4/4. The OMS faculty at Roseman is Dr. Monk and he is the man! You'll see.

and in response to OVOdental:

Roseman is more expensive than average but certainly not the most expensive when you take into account living expenses. It is a private school but is still a "not-for-profit" school. I'm a student there and I've spoken with admissions department Although not the norm, they decline people with with 3.8's and except people with low 3's regularly. Although they do like high DATs they've rejected people with 24s. They are not a typical dental school and are not looking to enroll just the highest academic applicants they can. They are searching for bright and well rounded people that will make great dentists, not just students. We're pretty close geographically to the U of U but the philosophy couldn't be further from their's.

If you have an option to get instate tuition anywhere, you take it. If you don't, I personally would go to Roseman over any other school (obviously I'm biased) because they are closely enough priced that it doesn't phase me. Living in this state is worth an extra 10k to me. I'm not from here but I've learned to love the outdoors. world class skiing is 30 minutes from school. I've been rock climbing all over the world and Utah has literally my favorite climbs right in Salt lake. It takes a 3.5 hr drive in the winter to get out of the snow. 5 hrs to Vegas. Amazing mountain biking throughout the whole state. If none of these things sound attractive, Utah might not be the state for you.

Also Roseman sincerely cares about what our class wants. We hold class meetings every other month or so. If my class doesn't like the way something is done, they change it for us. We say we want the schedule to be changed, they do it. We don't like a professor, they're gone. I've never met a Roseman student that doesn't love (or like?) the school and I've met a lot of students at other schools that don't have positive things to say about their's.

Anyways, I don't know if you're a douche bag but you sound like one so thanks for choosing a different school.

Sincerelly,
A biased Roseman student

I just received an email invite to call and schedule an interview. Does anyone know how many spots are even left that it would be worth attending at this point? I'm excited for the opportunity and feel like I should since I'm still waiting to hear back from the two schools I interviewed at so far, but if the spots are already nearly filled and its just interviewing for a wait list spot it seems like a bit of a waste...any thoughts?

I received an interview invitation via email this morning. 22 AA with 3.96 GPA. I will be declining tomorrow since I'm going to another school.

I'm pretty sure he's just a dbag and I'm sure he's lying. I doubt he got into anywhere.
Yep I'm a lying dbag cause I had a different opinion and choice than you. And lol if u takin out half a million in loans I pray to God they care about you lol. Like I said the school doesn't make sense financially TO ME. If you decide to go there then good luck. And I declined my acceptance but I did not get into another school. I'll take my chances reapplying next cycle and hopefully saving over 250k.

I suppose it makes sense to reapply as u said ur a Junior. Just be aware I've heard some adcoms look very negatively at someone who was accepted somewhere and declined the spot. I'm sure you can explain that the fit just wasn't right for you, but reapplying in general is a big risk (what if you don't get in? the whole bird in the hand thing). 400k in debt vs 300k in debt... + a years worth of salary as a dentist lost ~120k? To be honest I wrestled with the cost for a while. Luckily there are lots of Loan repayment options, hpsp scholarships, nat'l guard, etc. Good luck to you next cycle!

Received an invitation to interview yesterday (2/14/2017 - Happy Valentine's Day?). Will most likely be rejecting as I have been accepted to and will most likely attend another school. Best of luck to everyone that has been accepted and everyone yet to interview.

I turned in my academic update back in December and I got a confirmation that my application was under review early January. I contacted them a month after that email and they said it was still under review. I just wanted to know what my chances were of even landing an interview. Roseman is the only school that is giving me a shot right now. If anyone could please help that would be great.

Accepted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe I got in! Feb 10th interview for those wondering. Can't wait to join you guys in the fall!
When did you return your one page homework?

And when do get to pick colors? Orientation week?

Have most people with post-dec interviews experienced pretty quick turnaround??? I have an interview for Feb 24th but was just accepted at another school where the deposit is due March 2nd. So, I'm not sure if I should still attend to get a feel for the school and hope for an acceptance to make a quick decision on, or release my spot to give someone else a chance and just take my acceptance.
Any opinions or info is appreciated! Like vibes you got at the school, what the curriculum is like, what the city is like, ect!
Thanks!

I loved my experience there. I definitely learned a lot and came out with pretty decent hand skills. The atmosphere is pretty chill. You get a good amount of free time. I gained a phd in league of legends my time there. Also picked up swoleology. If you like nature and the outdoors, it's for you. If you like to ski, it's for you. If you like the city life... maybe not so much for you. Feel free to message me if you have specific questions.

They told us the color during orientation week. And I'm pretty sure the school picks the color. The only time they let students pick was the very first class and they picked black. The last rumor I heard is they are going to rotate black, maroon, grey, and navy. I believe you guys will be navy.
