140! Ok, now I am starting to feel a little intimidated...
this is all really happening isn't it?

SteelBlue said:140 people is an excellent turnout nearly 2/3 of the class, right? Does anyone know how big our class will actually be (intended size)? I imagine some will drop off the posted list as they decide to accept offers at other schools (OOS). Does anyone (welcoming committee?) know the M:F ratio and average age of the accepted students? Just curious, I enjoy numbers
adrenalitis said:yeah I was wondering how many of the 140 are going to the dinner. Kbrozena, do you know how many people RSVP'd for the night before dinner and will ChaCha's be able to fit all of us? That many people (plus guests) is a lot of people at a restaurant on a Friday night.

SteelBlue said:I'm coming alone. Are there that many people coming with guests?
naijaMD said:Bump. We're waaaay too far down on the page for our welcome weekend to be coming up! 😎

With the welcome weekend coming up, I feel a bit nervous about meeting new classmates... It's weird.

USCTex said:It'll be good to meet all y'all this weekend
BlinkyCat said:Only two more days until welcome day!
I think we're the first class to ever have a welcome weekend. How awesome are the students to plan this for us? 🙂

futrdrbaker said:I have Cingular and it works great in the medical school, hospital, and just generally around San Antonio.

jberg4 said:I'm going to live by myself third year because my schedule will be so hectic but I think the 2 bedroom is still affordable enough to live in alone. If you have any questions about the complex feel free to ask me and if you end up moving here dont forget to drop my name, JAMIE BERGER!, and I'll give you $150 of the promotion.
I second the Carlyle Place recommendation. Although I won't be living there next year (getting a house with friends), it's still a pretty good deal.jberg4 said:The two bedroom about $880 and the one bedroom in about $680 and still has a large floor plan. Plus, they are always running specials so you might want to call them up and see what is the best they can do right now. Their number is 210-321-1700.
jberg4 said:It is a very quiet, quaint and intimate complex (unlike Vintage or Promontory) and only a mile from school (you can walk it but I wouldn't recommend it in the Texas heat).
Megalin said:Quiet, if you don't mind helicopters and ambulences all night long.
You can walk, but you'll probably get tetanus or be hit by a car on the way.
But I live up medical, and I have to deal with the insane half mile of five o'clock traffic. Choose your battles.
naijaMD said:Does anyone know anything much about the Signature Ridge apt. complex?
AsianDoc816 said:...Besides the ambulances, the complex is pretty quiet and not a haven for party-goers like The Vintage or Promontory Pointe.
PM me if you have any questions. 😛
drewcog said:Ok, so not that I own stock in the complex or something, but just a quick note to those who might be considering the Vintage: I have no idea why people say its a noisy place. My wife and I have lived here for a year and it is totally quiet and layed-back. The noise transmission between floors is almost undectable and except for the big shin-dig here last year that got a few of my classmates in trouble, I wouldn't exactly call it party central. I mean, the security guard tickets your car if its parked illegally for even 2 seconds. She certainly wouldn't let a loud party last too long. And the residents who live here are either professionals or professional students; and the rest are retired senior citizens who either sit on their porches or garden the plants they have lining the walkways. I would highly recommend the Vintage as a place to call home. Just my $0.02 🙂
