Waitlist update - someone on FB said that today at 3pm OSU said the accepted offers put the class at 178 (normal class size is 164). They won’t let the number go any higher but it may stay the same or go down a bit. As of right now the 2024 class stands at 115 OOS students and 63 IS.

This is true.

So they are done pulling people off the waitlist already? I feel like they barely got anywhere on it. It’s only been 1 day
🙁

How many people get pulled off the waitlist is a factor of how many people accept the offers they originally send out. They always send out more offers than there are seats in the class because they have an idea of how many people that they offer seats to will actually say yes based on previous years...sometimes this doesn't go they way they want and they overshoot (too many people accept their seats). This year is weird because covid and because the requirements to get residency are becoming easier. The only reason they pulled anyone off the waitlist at all was because there weren't enough IS in the class. There's a chance people could still decline seats but at this point the class is still overfilled by a good bit.

Okay thank you for letting me know.

Aren’t they changing OOS fees to be $5 as well? That definitely sounds like more people would accept this year vs previous years for that reason too.

That class size is really large! Hope that’s not going to cause any issues. Is there enough room for 170+?

They’re working on a solution to that. But yeah, it’s a huge class.

hmmm that makes me a little worried bc I haven’t officially accepted my spot they just called me and said they had room for me and they would send an email in a couple days... but if they already have an accepted full class it doesn’t make sense as to why they would tell me there was a spot for me

Unfortunately unless an acceptance decides to decline their seat I think so?

I believe the 178 included anyone pulled from the waitlist today. You’ll be fine!

Do you think they will continue to offer off the waitlist if people were to decline or they would just allow the class size to decrease first then if they needed more offer to waitlist?

I’m honestly not sure. But knowing the class is 14 seats over right now they may not take any more off the waitlist even if a few seats end up declining. I’m holding onto hope for you guys though. I pray you hear good news back!

Does anyone knows if there’s a Facebook group for the class yet? 🙂

Currently, my roommate and I are looking for a two-beds apartment. I have a puppy so it has to be pet-friendly.

Within our budget, our current list is: Governours Square, Olentangy Village Apartment, Heritage Apartment, and Stadium View.

They are relatively all close (within 10 min from the campus by car) and around $1000~1200 per month.

I would love to hear any information about these apartments if you have any experience.
Thank you!!

I previously lived at Gov Square and liked it. Feel free to Pm me🙂

The Commons at Olentangy and Fox and the Hound you may also want to look at for your price point. I like Fox and the Hound over Governors for price personally, but I lived at the Commons for 4 years. Feel free to PM me as well!

🙂

Just got off the OOS waitlist!!
Congratulations! Yeah I was confused because I called the admissions office yesterday and she said they were still adjusting the class and still planning on pulling people from the waitlist. What number were you?

For IS or OOS?!

For IS or OOS?!
For OOS, but that’s only because I am OOS so I did not specifically ask about IS. The woman on the phone just explained that people were still rejecting and accepting so they are continuing to make offers.

Oh were you originally #9 on the IS waitlist? I saw #8 (your friend?) got pulled and I’m really really rooting for you!!

Financial aid awards posted today! Can see scholarships and loans on buckeyelink now.

Hey current vet students! I am looking at renting an apartment at Olentangy Village and was wondering if any of you have lived there or know anyone who has and, if so, would you recommend living there? Thanks!

I wanna ask to the current students.
I am debating which IPad to buy, but I'd rather upgrade my laptop than getting IPad Pro.

I know we use Ipad for the exams. What is the minimum Ipad spec that runs the exam software?

If I can even downgrade to IPad gen7 (not even IPad Air) and have no problem to take exams, I would be happy!

@diqsmt You can get the regular IPad. You don’t need the air or the pro. Works fine and is compatible with examsoft, Apple Pencil as well as notability. That’s what I have.

Thank you so much!
Do you need the apple pencil for the exam?

hi everyone! I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask this but i filed for a review way back in February when they started to give application feedback and i was wondering if anyone knew when we would be hearing back or if i should contact them about it? I’m hesitant to contact them about it because I’m sure they have a lot more on their plate right now so any advice would be helpful 🙂

Hi! They weren't accepting applications for reviews then, so it probably got overlooked. I got my review back about a month ago. I'd recommend contacting them again (I had to email twice, the second time I got my review back within 24 hrs).

I’m putting this in this thread, as well as the COVID-19 impact on school thread since I think it’s relevant in both spots. So for the incoming class for Ohio, we are started all lectures online, besides pathology and clinical skills lab. Yep, so far anatomy is going to be online too sadly. However, I have to say, osu has done an amazing job for the most part, keeping us up to date. We have our 2nd class meeting via zoom at the end of this week. I really appreciate them going out of their way to go over everything with us. Just wanted to put this here, just in case people who are wondering how certain schools are dealing with everything that’s going on.

Pathology? Like histopathology first semester? Weird that is deemed to be necessary to be in person and anatomy isn’t...

Ya I know! We are all pretty upset about it. I much rather have patho online over anatomy! Hopefully we can convince them to change their mind, but for now, it’s online.

Yeah I'm intrigued...if anything you really dont need to do histo in person. The associated labs are based on slides that are all online to begin with, so it would be a pretty easy transition.

Anatomy online is less than ideal, I'm sorry🙁

For what it's worth, they've done a pretty job of converting clinical rotations to an online format, so I'm sure they'll do everything they can to make classes a valuable learning experience.

We have another meeting this week and I’m assuming someone is definitely going to bring up anatomy. So I guess we’ll wait and see. I wouldn’t mind if we could just go in once a week just to dissect something. We were also wondering, since we will only be on campus 2x/week if any fees or parking change in price? All questions that’ll be asked probably Friday.

I can tell you that the answer to fees will be no change because you will still be in person at least somewhat. The university sets the prices and once you are on campus at all (rather than purely online), your charged as if your there. 2/3 months of the summer semester for my clinical year have been online but the price was the same. Parking is controlled by CampusParc and will also be the same because your on campus. The vet school doesn’t control any of those things.

Hey future classmates! Its so unfortunate that we’ll be mostly online for this fall semester. With that said, I can’t wait to meet you all! In the meantime, my snapchat is ajoice96 if any of you would like to add me 🙂

Hey current students, we have just recieved information on purchasing parking passes and I was wondering if you have any suggestions as to which parking pass to purchase in order to park in the vet building parking lot? Thanks!

You’ll need the C pass. It’s the only one available to students that will allow you to park in the vet school lots. With all of the changes to the curriculum though, you might want to wait and see how often you need to physically be on campus. It might be cheaper to get hourly parking or temporary monthly passes (one month or three month) versus the annual pass. You can purchase the passes at anytime and they don’t care if they “oversell” parking passes (cue sad laughter).

CampusParc actually has a lot of information about this on their site in the FAQ’s right now.
