On Hold for Interview at Albany :o(

I just got an email from Albany that I am on hold for an interview. Did anyone else get this email? What can we do to get off the hold list? I recently sent my Fall grades....maybe they haven't received them yet.

FYI: I sent my application on Nov 6, and was sent the "we are reviewing your application" email on Jan 10th. I called on Dec. 6th and they said it was complete then also. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> I have a 3.67/27P with a ~3.9 last 3 semesters and large upward trend since 1st semester

If you have been invited an interview off the hold list please post, or if you have any info.

I'm on hold as well but you can check out <a href="http://www.interviewfeedback.com" target="_blank">www.interviewfeedback.com</a> for people who interviewed out of hold status. It does happen

Also, I have become OBSESSED with this site. I'm waiting to hear from so many schools, but this site is like hearing something everyday, and I have nothing else to do but check it.

get this. i got interviewed at albany last spring and was ultimately rejected. so i took a research job with a close affiliate of albany med and reapplied for this coming year....those a**holes put me on hold before an interview. so i have improved my application, and for some odd reason am not good enough to interview this year. screw them.

again, a reason why med school admissions is a crap shoot.

ps as you can tell im a little bitter.

I wonder if they even read through the applications completely. According to an old thread I found about MCPH and holds, most people had mcats scores lower than 30 on pre-interview holds. It's possible that they glance at the applications, but only interview people with stellar scores first.

Some of the people on Albany's admission committee are very arrogant. One of my interviewers went on a tangent about how only about 600 of the 8000+ applicants to Albany are worth a damn. He told me I should feel special for having been selected. Then he proceeded to rip me a new one with the most wicked ethics questions.

You don't need them, Foxy. Come join me at a southern school...where people are down to earth (sorry about the generalization ).

Since this is my new favorite complaining thread, here I go.

I just got back from class and I got an email form USF, so of course I was very excited. All it says is that my application is complete and they are getting ready to forward it to the admissions committees. WTF!!!! I called on December 12th and they said it was under review and complete. I can't believe this! How accurate is this email? They should have sent it 2 months ago.

Ah, I feel better now. Having a bad day.

p.s. After reading the email again, I found this funny quote: "Your file has been forward for review to determine whether you will be invited for an interview." How nice of them to take the time to check their grammar!

USF is obviously having a little trouble. They did, after all, lose my letters. The letters were found about 6 months after they had been submitted. Despite this, I am on their waitlist. Think positive thoughts. Try this one: "At least my application is being forwarded to the committee." I wish I could be saying this about Emory. They stop requesting interviews in a week, and the committee has still not reviewed my file. When I called today, I was told this. I was also told that my file would be hand delivered to the committee today or tomorrow. I really hope this isn't the first time they've set eyes on my file!

As I said...THINK POSITIVE THOUGHTS! Good Luck! Let us know when you hear something. It took Mr. Larkin less than a week to notify me about my interview after the committee received my file.

I can prove my status by stating my hold status at Rush, Penn St, Abany, VCU and MCPH.

Yes, it is true. They told us she put off matriculating for a year so she could do her Ms. NY thing. They then proceeded to tell us that they perform physicals on one another. Guess they were trying to sell the guys on the school <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" /> . There was also a lady in her 2nd year who is a "famous British actress". Seems you have some degree of fame to get in . Well, Ms. Britney, I think you're a shoe-in!

dukee•••••Hi dukee, welcome to SDN. Did you send them your Fall trascript? I did last week, with a generic letter about my good grades (I sent it to 16 schools)

If I don't hear anything in a month, I'll send a letter about new ECs and maybe a new letter of recommendation. Good luck to you! Keep us posted of any changes.
