Don't think I've seen a thread for Oregon yet! Applying for the first time OOS, who else? 🙂

Also I had a question maybe some past applicants can answer, when they ask for you to "Please summarize your academic history by term and provide an overall view of your employment and/or volunteer/extracurricular workload during academic periods", did you include summers as well? I've had some summers where I took courses and some where I just interned, so I'm not sure if I should include all of them, just the ones where I took courses, or none.

Also applying OOS but hopefully with WICHE (AZ resident)!

I didn’t include summers but I’ve only ever worked and not taken classes so it’s a bit different. Interested to hear what others say!

Contact OSU. I included summers when I applied last year, but I took at least one class every summer.

When I applied last year, I included the summers because I took classes every summer while working. But you can also communicate with OSU to double check too.

I only included the summer terms where I took summer courses.

What color of scrubs are students supposed to wear?
You need spruce green coveralls for any large animal stuff. Tess generally mentions this in the email for accepted students. We wear hospital scrubs during surgery, but you'll be wearing business casual + white coat for most SA rotations 4th year. No other requirements that I'm aware of.

A little late to the party, but I finished applying last week! I’m an in-state student who’s been doing undergrad at OSU as well.

Don’t suppose anyone has interview tips yet? I know they’re a decade away, but I feel like I’m going to have to do some solid preparation to perform well.

I know in the past they held MMI interviews, but with covid Tess said it’s undecided yet if they will continue that for this applicant cycle. Is the pre-veterinary community pretty big at OSU for undergrad?

I know they do not interview OOS candidates and the decisions will be made by December. As for in-state I'm fairly certain they will be conducting online interviews this year.

I received an email today saying my application is complete and that they will email decisions in December for OOS candidates.

what does oregon state usually look for in their admitted students? Do they put a high value on GPA/academics?

Has anyone ever gotten in with lower than a 3.0 gpa as OOS?

I agree, I’ve been consistently refreshing my email several times a day since Monday. Feeling doubtful today would be the day. I’m just so curious to know in what format the interview will be. It’s hard to imagine they’d keep the MMI format over zoom.

On the website they said MMI scheduled for zoom on January 16th

Thank you! How are you preparing? I’m not sure which format is worse, traditional or MMI lol
To be honest I’ve never really prepared for interviews and I think if I started to now I’d fluster myself. So to answer your question I’m not LOL but I don’t think the invites are coming out today

Got an interview!

I spoke way too soon, got an invite this evening!

I have done one interview with another school and I am preparing for another one in January. To prepare, I went on SDN and talked to current students about what types of questions were asked. I comprised a list of 30+ plus questions for each school and I practice these questions a few times a week. I bring my list of questions to work, and I have my coworkers ask me these questions while I am off doing something. I find that this helped me a lot because it has taught me how to be quick on my feet. This style of preparing worked for me and I did not stutter during my interview because I was training to answer these questions quickly and accurately. This was for a traditional interview, not an MMI.

I'm OOS so I just realized I won't have to interview haha, BUT I had a zoom MMI for the RVC and a zoom traditional interview for SGU, and I would say the MMI is easier and more fun! Plus because there's not really any way to prepare, the best advice someone gave me on other thread was to just relax as much as possible (but I know it's a lot easier said than done, I was nervous too!)

Thanks! I hope that’s true. Last year I was waitlisted for another school and I’m certain it was because of how my interview went so I’m hoping MMI will be different lol. Plus I think, too, with interviews being held over zoom they're less nerve-wrecking right?

Oof I didn’t get an email. I assume that means rejection 🙁

Congrats on those who got in!

I'm oos rejected. For both accepted and rejected applicants what were your gpas? Just curious!
