I still havnt even gotten a secondary for here yet 🙄

Not sure what is going on. Maybe because my applications was just released to them on the 10th of Sept. I already got the other 6 secondaries back. Do they take a little bit longer reviewing applications before they send them out?

The secondary is sent by postal mail.

Haha. I know this site just makes me anxious b/c I see everyone getting interviews and acceptances. I feel like I'm early/on time with everything but SDN always has a way of slappin ya down a notch. Thanks for the reality check tho 😀

I just got my interview for the 23rd of September! I have some questions that I can't seem to find the answer for though.

Does anyone have an earlier interview than that?

Did I get an early interview because they liked my application or because I applied early?

After the interview how long should I expect to wait until I hear back?

Sorry about all the questions... I just knew this was the place to ask them.

Thanks for the help,

John

EDIT: I realize their site says that the wait will be a month post interview... I was just wondering if this amount of time is typical.

Check out the PCOM's application thread here for some of the answers to your questions if not all.

Before I go to bed, I'll help you out man... and then move your thread.

1) I believe the earliest interview is the 21st.
2) They more than likely found something good in your application. There were people complete before me, but I was picked to interview on the first day. I think you have a great shot, interviewing so early.
3) I interview September 24 and was accepted around October 15.

I sent out my primary to both PCOM and PCOM-GA, but have since decided not to send in the secondary for PCOM-GA. Should I still check the box saying that I applied to PCOM-GA, since my primary application was sent there? Or should I leave it unchecked? Thanks!

ARGGG - i just called them to check the status of my application - and they can't find it!
i sent it over two weeks ago, and was wondering why I hadn't heard anything. She said their office is in disarray since they are switching to the online format. GRRR
🙁

Did you guys double space your secondary essay? My why pcom portion is a paragraph long but my why DO? is two paragraphs long....do you think i over did it for the why DO essay?

All of the professors and physicians I have spoken to tell me this.

Imagine you have to read 2,000 papers each year. Would you want to read something that gets to the points or is just long to be long? If you make strong points through out the whole paper then its fine to be a little long, just dont drag on is my only advice. The reader will not be happy when they finish if it is unnecessarily long and you want happy readers 😀

did anybody get a "complete" email?

I had to call and ask if I was complete. Apparently PCOM does not send complete emails, you will only hear back from them once they've made a decision about your application (interview invite or reject).

I ended up keeping my essays single spaced... about 2 paragraphs total for both the 'why pcom' and 'why DO' statement.

I probably sound a bit anal but I really want to get into PCOM. I didnt attach my essay to the secondary sheet they provided(just simply put the essay behind it w/ my name and SS # on everything). Hopefully, one of you can ease my mind and tell me to stop being so paranoid lol. Thanks and best wishes.

you should be fine. I did the same and called to make sure they had everything. You can call to double check but you should be fine!

I called about the dean letter deal. They don't need one from my school, and they will accept 2 science and an non-science in place of the committee letter.

If you are a student from a gigantic university, you may want to call and ask if the dean letter is unnecessary.

Does PCOM start reviewing files once they have the supplemental and the committee letter? I'm not sure if my D.O. letter will get there right away, but I have already sent the other two pieces.

Def saw them at the fishbowl today after the histo midterm.

They will wait for everything if you indicated in your secondary that you will be sending this letter.

Oh! so those are D.O. applicants in there today!! I saw there's like almost 8 to 10 applicants. Surprised to see so many already on first day of interview. I remember mine was second week last year and there were only 5 students during my interview.

So somewhere around 10 or so people have interviewed at PCOM so far?

Just finished with my interview today. It went well and i hope for the best. It was really interesting, they are going entirely paperless this year and were working out the kinks with their system so the interviews were running a little behind. It was interesting, all the comment they made were done through the computer. Best of luck to those interviewing in the coming months and the one thing i can say is you are all adults and you are well educated individuals. There is absolutely no reason why you wouldn't be able to interview well at PCOM. They don't try to stump you and are very friendly. They really get to the point of trying to know who you are so unless you try to fake your own personality i think you will be in good shape. :scared: >>> :slap:>>>:soexcited:

Yeah it sounds about that way. I got an e-mail stating that they received my secondary and fee on the 17th. I really hope to hear from them soon, because is def near the top of my list!!

Its not that much of a walk in the park. But it was a good interview nonetheless. You'll probably have a decision by mid October into the 3rd or 4th week. And, more than likely, you'll get in. Preeminent congrats, man.

It depends on the interviewer. There are a few out there who will really pry and put you through the paces. In general the interviews are pretty low key.

They're making me so nervous! I sent in my secondary and LORs at the end of August, I called last week and they told me my file was complete but I haven't received a "complete" email, nor have they cashed my check. I really want to get in! PCOM's my #1 school!! I feel like Tom Petty sang my theme song for this fall:

The waiting is the hardest part
Every day you see one more card
You take it on faith, you take it to the heart
The waiting is the hardest part

Come on, PCOM! :xf::scared::xf:

Anyone else having trouble trying to reschedule their interview?

Yeah I got an e-mail saying they got my secondary and fee.. I e-mailed them fri about whether I was complete, but no reply...

LAS I have the same stats as you and applied to similar schools but no interviews yet...when were you complete (MD and DO)

I was complete at PCOM on 8/12... for the other schools i have interviews at: Nova 8/12, VA tech 8/25, NYMC 7/23, Drexel 9/1, Penn State 7/30. Hope this helps and good luck!

I just interviewed at PCOM today, and figured I would let you know guys know about it. There were 9 students total and the interview was VERY low key. Very pleasant all-in-all. If anyone has any questions about the process feel free to email me.

Do you think it's possible to get into PCOM with only a 24Q MCAT? (7 Phys, 8 Bio, 9 Verb) I had a 3.39 Science GPA, a 3.54 overall, and a 3.72 Non-Science GPA, but I'm nervous that I won't get an interview!

Would someone that has been interviewed be willing to tell your stats?

Yes! with these stats you can get an interview. but it all depends on ur extracurricular activities, volunteer work, clinical experience and stuff like dat.. If I were you, i wudn't worry TOO much about da stats as I would worry about these other stuff.. PCOM looks at da applicants as a whole instead of da stats..

Thanks Don Sony 🙂

Makes me feel tons better....I'm definitely not worried about my EC's and related experience....just felt that my Stats weren't up to par.

I'm going to post this on the prior year's thread as well, but does anyone have the details for PCOM's immunization requirements? The other school I was accepted at wanted a Hep B titer six months after the third shot or we'd have to do the cycle again, and I wanted to know if this was the case at PCOM as well.

I had to be reimmunized in June. My doctor advised me to wait 6 months to have another titer drawn. PCOM didn't like that... so I had to sign the HepB waiver even though I plan on getting the titer this winter break.
