Interview invite today via email! for 12/13

And for those of you who will ask:

complete 9/14
gpa: 3.3 (engineering)
MCAT: 34P
IS

Congrats. Your MCAT is awesome!!

I guess they are already booked until December.

My supplemental application was received on Aug. 24 and all my LOR were received by Sept. 8, according to the website. I never any email that my file is complete. Is that normal? I am OOS.

Thanks! I received an email confirming that they received the paper secondary. That was it. If you're still unsure I would try calling the office, every time I've called they've been extremely nice.

do you guys think its worth calling and seeing if they're gonna offer me an interview? i interviewed at PCOM-Ga already.

I'm curious about this as well. Although I would more so ask what the status of my application is, as in has it been reviewed already, am I on hold, etc...?

The school remains my top choice and the anticipation is killing me. I have the same relationship with PCOM as I did with LOST.

I love it and I've put so much time into that I can't just give up on it now, but at the same time I want to just stop watching because they make me wait SOO long for answers...

just got the interview invite today for 12/20!!!!!!

i was complete 9/16...

PCOM Class of 2015 thread created in osteopathic forum...enjoy

Yeah, I'm really curious about my application status as well. I've been complete since August, and haven't heard a peep. I've interviewed (or at least been invited) at several schools I've applied to.. and PCOM is really high on my list because of its location and sites.. I don't mean to sound greedy or entitled.. just had high hopes here in this competitive and bizarre process.

I didn't have a committee letter. Mine were all from profs, and then I have my academic adviser write my "yes, graduated" letter.

I see people stress all the time over the "dean's letter". It's not a big deal, doesn't have to freak you out. Good luck.

yup, from Cranston... you?

Woonsocket. My sister lives in Cranston. Sweet. Think I'm the only person from RI there now. Be nice to have someone else who understands RI. Heh. Good luck.

Try sending in a letter of interest...since interviews already lined up to Dec. Competition for interview spots will become more fierce starting in Jan.

Seeing these interview invites for late December is really disheartening... I was expecting to hear back from them before the holidays. I received the acknowledgement email mid Sept.

gaaaaaaaaahhhh this waiting game is killing me!! :scared:

But congrats to all you peeps who go the invites! Keep the rest of us informed on how they go!

Both my rooommates went to PCOM's open house the other day (i went to it last year) and the OMM demonstrator says if you do the OMM fellowship after fourth year, they pay for that year plus one other year. Sounds pretty sweet to me.

Reallllly hoping to get a letter from pcom tomorrow. this waiting is killing me!

10/11, so exactly 2 weeks ago. I think I read that people were getting acceptances 2 weeks after they interviewed so needless to say, I'm getting antsy.

I would expect it thursday or friday

My secondaries/letters/everything were sent Oct. 7th and I haven't gotten any sort of confirmation e-mail saying they've received anything although my bank statement says my $50 check was cashed . The adcom said I should be receiving a notification when my supplemental has been processed and I should check my status online... but I'm unable to do so. Do I receive a login/pw for online access after I get the confirmation e-mail and does it usually take this long to process my secondary? Funny that they would cash my check w/o telling me they've received my supplemental 😕.

It all sounds pretty normal to me. They cashed all of our checks before sending email. Just be patient. And yes, login/pw do come with this confirmation email

I am a complete idiot. I just sent out my secondary application through the mail yesterday and made a completely IDIOTIC mistake. I put Philadelphia College of Medicine in stead of the official title of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine..... I am kicking myself right now. What should I do? Possibly e-mail them or just live with my dumb*** mistake? I can't believe I did that!!!!!

I wouldn't worry at all about that. As long as you sounded like you knew alot about the school in your essay, I would highly doubt that they would hold that against you. They know what you're talking about. I do understand that panicky nervous feeling though, we all do!

I think they realize from your secondary essay that you know they are an osteopathic institution. I wouldn't both emailing them over such a small, inconsequential mistake.

BREATHE! hahhaha

Thanks you guys... Man I was sweating bullets!

Easy mistake! I don't think they'll be catty about your envelope, as long as you really addressed why you are interested in Osteopathic Medicine in your secondary, and really mean it during your interview! Just don't call it "PCOM" in your interview. It's "P.C.O.M!" 😛 You'll hear a lot of that from the Nicholas brothers when you start in the fall!

I have my interview next Wednesday, and I must say I'm really excited. Does anyone know how many days of the week they interview and how many people per interview day? Thanks.

I know for a fact that they've done Mon, Wed, and thursday interviews..don't know about tues or fri. I interviewed with 10 other people

Thanks for the info!

My interview time is at 11AM. Does that mean I'll have a lot of downtime before my interview?

Also, just curious, I intend to be there for the 8AM breakfast, but did people show up just for the interview, then tour? Wouldn't that look bad?

Show up for the breakfast. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions. When I interviewed, they gave us the option of choosing which order to interview in. It may look bad if they do it that way and you're not there. There will be downtime between the breakfast and interview if you interview at 11am, but you can attend lectures if you'd like.

Congrats!!!
Do you mind sharing your stats and when your application was complete there? Thanks.

I am just wondering... i was complete since 9/16 haven't heard anything since.

My app was marked as complete on Oct. 7th, but I have been a nuisance since July 15th. I call my connection in admissions at least once a month to make sure they know who I am. I graduated undergrad with a 2.8 culm gpa 🙁. I now have a 3.83 completely science gpa at UMDNJ Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (helps out a lot). My MCAT was a 27, but I'm doing a lot of other things to make myself competitive like being the president of the reignin MAPS chapter of the year and volunteering and tutoring (I don't think it can be stressed enough to be a WELL ROUNDED applicant.)

I worked for an osteopathic physician who graduated from PCOM and apparently roomed with who is now the dean while in medical school. He wrote me a LOR.

How can I be sure to utilize my letter writer's connection? Chances are, the majority (if not all) of the adcom has no idea who this man is. Though my app. wasn't complete until the end of September, I'm still concerned that I haven't heard anything. My stats are all above their averages.

Any input?

If you have above average stats, and the rest of your app is solid, I wouldn't worry about the letter

any canadians at PCOM? read in a post that 75% are PA students so I don't know how much 😍 I'll get from them 🙁

Hi all! I have a question for everyone who has already submitted their secondary application. For the question, "What healthcare related experiences do you have?"

I listed all of them, but am I supposed to describe them as well? It seems a bit silly since they are all listed in my AACOMAS application with detailed descriptions, and it seems a little ridiculous to copy or rehash those same descriptions for the secondary application. How did everyone else handle this?

Thanks!🙂

I quickly summarized them as best I could so I wouldn't take up a bunch of space and phrased it so it made sense. I just put it on a separate page.

I wrote it in the space provided.

I said something to the effect of: I shadowed Dr. John Johnson, DO, of Johnson Family Med for 27 hrs, Dr. Eric Ericson of Ericson Cardiology for 79 hrs...blah blah blah

Is that really true that they take 75% pennsylvania students? (I know that's the case for UMDNJ.)

their website says 67%. It's still a good chunk.

here's a funny question: am i going to look like a cheapo if i print it double-sided *shame* i don't like to waste!

*mental image of adcom stamping the word 'CHEAP' in bold, red all over my app*

does anyone know what the post interview "hold" status means????

does anyone know what the post interview "hold" status means????

I just interviewed this past week and the admissions recruiter told us that we're considered early interviewees so the decision will be an acceptance or rejection. He said a small amount will receive a hold. And if you are put on hold, it means the adcom wants to take more time to look over your file.
