Isn't PCOM the John's Hopkins of the DO world? 😀

I have been complete for about a month and a half. PCOM is my number one choice..Is it to soon to send an update letter?

Been wondering the same thing. I have two other acceptances, but PCOM is one of my top choices. I very much would love to interview here. I've worked with several graduates and have always been impressed. It seems there are a few schools that have long waits, so I'm not in panic mode yet. Are these letters of interest actually useful or are they more of a nuisance on the already busy admissions staff?

Accepted PCOM incoming class of 2013!

Researching real estate now. I recommend the Zillow app.

I submit that all matriculants sign up for a roommate match (free program that matches you by living habits). Living with non-med students can be detrimental, especially in the first year.

Anyway, message me if interested.

For any PCOM medical student out there do you guys have your names printed on your student white coats?

Coats are provided free by POMA, but embroidery must be purchased. There is a great fundraiser on campus for this.

Bump!

Interview invite for January 31. My payment/secondary were received sometime in late September.

PCOM didn't forget me! 😎👍

Is it too late to send in a secondary? around 3.8, 29 Nj resident.

when were you complete please!
I never got a "your application is complete" email and from what I've read they don't send you one.

On my status page, the last thing they received from me was my application fee on 9/26.

So, I suppose I was complete on 9/26.

How did you guys get the letter of good standing from the deans/chair? I can't find any information and my dean said they dont write letters of good standing.

It is a committe letter from the pre-health committee at your undergrad. At least, this is what I sent in.

Does anyone know if the admission committee met this last tuesday? Im wondering if they'll send out letters of acceptance/rejection for those tho interviewed the first week of December before xmas. Any news would be very welcome. Good luck to everyone.

Hey there.

Quick review of stats-
3.8 cGPA
3.7ish sGPA
2 valid MCATS
2011 8,9,8 K
2012 9, 6, 10 N

Stellar LORs.

4.5 years of research throughout undergrad. Was a recipient of a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship granted by the American Heart Association. and since it's completion I have been working as a Research Associate in a lab since August. No publications yet but one in the works and more hopefully on the way...

I am also applying to the D.O/Ph.D in Cell Bio which has been complete since Nov.

LOTS of volunteering (clinical and non-clinical), DO/MD shadowing and letters, year long internship during undergrad.

Supplemental email was confirmed Aug 30th. But l was complete Nov.14 I believe, according to the status update page because of a late LOR... I haven't heard a peep in months and just want to hear your opinions. What can I do pre-interview to increase my chances of an interview? LOI?

I have 3 other D.O acceptances but I am really hoping I get some love from PCOM sometime soon! What are my chances??

Thanks to everyone who posts here! Your information and experiences are invaluable!

I contacted my Office of Ethics at my undergrad university and someone there pulled my file and submitted a letter stating I was in good academic standing and PCOM accepted it.

Accepted 🙂

Withdrawing from my other acceptance, so grateful and so so proud to be an official PCOMer come fall!
Ah!
See you all in Philadelphia!

Question - I have applied to both PCOM GA and PCOM Philly. I received an ii at GA PCOM and was accepted. I haven't heard a word from Philly. I like GA, but I would love an opportunity to interview in Philly (mostly because of location and research). Any advice on what to do? 🙂

Has anyone taken one of their pre reqs at a community college and gained acceptance to either the philly or GA campus? I saw on the websites FAQ that they will accept credits from a CC but it is best to take the pre reqs at a 4 year university. Now I plan to take physics 1 and 2 at a CUNY so that I could make room for my double major. But that's the only pre req I will take at a CC. I did very well in my other pre reqs, I got an A- in organic chemistry and most of my other pre reqs have been in the A range so what should I do?

I took one of my prereqs at a CC and got accepted here. I wouldn't worry too much as long as your grades are good, which it seems they are. Good luck!

I randomly got an interview invite today. I was complete a looong time ago and won't be attending, but I thought I'd let you guys know IIs are still going out.

Accepted!!! Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

Similar stats as you (MCAT was a little more balanced) and I was accepted.

I took 3 pre reqs at a CC. As long as your grades are consistent I doubt it will make any difference for most schools. Good luck!

Thanks Bentley88.

I'm thinking of sending an update letter this week. Does anyone know if the committee will meet again this month?

Thanks again!

I choose to write mine about something completely non-medical and non-volunteer related. Pretty much I picked out a story that was not related to anything else on my application.

I got accepted, so I guess you could say it worked, although during my interview they only asked my about my aacomas essay and didn't mention the secondary essay at all. So who really knows?

I wrote about a volunteer experience that wasn't medicine-related. They did bring it up in my interview actually.

For those of you who were accepted, what was your respective science GPA, cumulative GPA, and MCAT?

Thank you

Hey, non-trad student here and I graduated college over five years ago. I sent an e-mail to PCOM last week asking about the LORs they require, and they still haven't gotten back to me. Anyway, I'm doing a DIY post-bach program and have three LORs from 3 different science professors, 1 physician I shadowed, and 1 physician who employs me. Can I substitute these LORs for the pre-med committee and Department Chair?

Hi non-trad here also, graduated from undergrad 10 years ago. PCOM requires a letter from your undergrad, there is no way around it. I ended up reaching out to my former undergrad advisor, deparment chair and dean of the college of letters and sciences. All three gave me a generic letter stating that I was a student in good standing while in undergrad. That's all that PCOM needs. I sent all three letters in and one of them must have worked because the LOR requirement has been marked as "satisfied" in the online system. Good luck.

How do I access this online portal? I'm submitting secondary most likely tomorrow or Wednesday

You get an email with portal info after they acknowledge receipt of your secondary app.

Ha! I just got a generic letter from the academic advising department that I was on the dean's list every semester and I was in good standing. This is all I need right? This really wasn't that difficult to get.

Hey, how long do we have to wait to get an interview here? I've been complete since mid-November and haven't heard back yet.

I didn't see anyone answer your question. When I was accepted back in 2008 I was admitted with a 3.5/29. The admission stats seem a bit random from what I recall with a pretty wide range. I don't think PCOM puts out their stats in an updated fashion.

Does anyone who interviewed in Jan know when adcom meets this month?

Hey guys,

Does anyone know if there are any seats left? I'm mailing in my secondary fee today. I'm just scared that I'm doing this for nothing, I think I'm a competitive candidate. I didn't really know or think of Osteopathic medicine until I started talking to a couple osteopaths who convinced me that it was a really unique perspective on medicine. Thus my late application. 3.67 cGPA, 3.51 sGPA, 29S balanced MCAT.

Idk how many people are in the incoming class total once everyone's accepted, but there are 100 members in the accepted Facebook group, not that everyone who was accepted is on FB (group also includes a couple of current first year students) so I'd say there are of course seats left, esp if they're still interviewing.

Withdrawing, but just want to point out that it's not all about numbers. Good luck ya'll.

No interview invite
Complete before September
cGPA mid 3's
sGPA high 3's
MCAT balanced low 30s

Anyone know when white coat occurs for 2013? I've seen some speculation but not sure how accurate the "first week of classes" is?

Thanks! -Vee
