Wait, are people getting the secondary here already? I haven't heard a peep!

Same here! Man why did they send these so late? I'm almost asleep and it woke me up. Hahaha

Is everyone just going to reuse their PCOM-GA essay? If I'm not mistaken they're identical...

Anyone who got a secondary from the west coast? Or are you all in/near PA?

florida
Its fine to use the same essay right? I mean same prompt... so

Considering waiting to hear back from DMU/AZCOM before I send in this secondary.

I'm still waiting on my D.O. to submit my LOR :/ Do you prefer those schools over PCOM?

Kind of even, but I interviews at those schools in september.

Secondary invite!

Primary Received: 6/24
Secondary Invite: 8/1
Secondary Submitted: 8/1

Delaware resident - I don't know if they count us as close enough to in state. 😛 I mean Delaware relies on Philly for a lot of stuff. hahaha.

I applied in january 2012 and obviously didnt get in. chances are they havent even looked at my app. Should I reuse my essay? The prompt is the same. I mean nothing changed in past 6 months.

hey guys, just to clarify: so we send the secondary app to the email, do we have to mail in the application fee along with the print out to their mailing address? or is there somewhere online that we can pay for it?

Same here. My primary date is the same as yours and I finally got the secondary last night.

Maryland resident.

Looks like we mail the fee but have a choice between emailing the secondary or sending it in the mail.

You might have more luck just reading the email yourself...

"The required non-refundable application fee of $50 (check or money order made payable to PCOM) may be mailed to:

PCOM Office of Admissions
4170 City Avenue
Philadelphia, PA 19131-1694

Please print this email and attach it to your payment. Also include your first and last name and PCOM User ID, in the memo portion of the check or money order. Electronic payment is not available at this time."

Always best to read the fine print.

nevermind! just read the bottom half of that email! thanks 🙂

Does PCOM screen for secondaries? I can't seem to find that info on their website. My primary was released on 6/24 but no email yet.

No, the DO info book says PCOM sends the secondary to everyone. I haven't gotten one either (same primary release date). I wonder if they send them in waves?

I got the PCOM-GA one exactly a day before my one from PCOM Philly. Maybe the fact that I applied to both has something to do with it?

250 words huh? I guess they want 1-2 paragraphs instead of an essay.

Does anyone have the prompts for the Philly campus secondary? Are they the same as the Georgia ones? Thanks!

Secondary submitted, application payment was sent... Waiting.

So I guess I didn't see the part about needed a committee letter or a letter from an adviser/dean/department chair. I can get the letter, but I'm not sure when, do you guys know if I need this letter to get an interview? My school doesn't have a committee so I didn't think I would have to both with advisers and such.

from PCOM's website:

Your application file will be evaluated only when it is complete. Interviews begin in mid September and will be conducted through March 2012. If you are selected for an interview, we will send you an email with the date of your interview. Applicants to Philadelphia will receive an email from [email protected]; Georgia applicants will receive their invitation from [email protected]. Please add these addresses to your directory so they will not be captured in any computer filters. Again, we will use the email address provided on your AACOMAS application. Please check your account on a regular basis. It is your responsibility to notify us, in writing, if your email address changes.

For your file to be considered complete, a letter of recommendation must be sent from one of the following sources:

pre-health advisor/committee (undergraduate, post-baccalaureate or graduate is acceptable)
academic advisor, dean or department chair from the undergraduate degree-granting institution
(Please note that this is the only required letter, however, we will accept additional letters from other sources).
Although not required, a letter of recommendation from an osteopathic physician is strongly encouraged.
Official current MCAT scores must be on file. Self reported scores on the AACOMAS application are not considered official.

🙂

I didn't get a secondary (I'm within an hour from PCOM)

For the prompt, do you think its wise to use a non-clinical event?

It seems like they left this question up for a lot of interpretation. I think as long as you can tie it into the ".the mission and objectives of the Osteopathic profession and PCOM" then clinical/non-clinical shouldn't matter. That's how I interpreted it.

I'm having some crazy writer's block on this question.

After the UMDNJ-RWS application I figured that there are two approaches to these types of prompts.

1) Recall your favorite anecdotes and figure out you can use one to answer the prompt
or
2) Think of what you want to convey, and pick an anecdote to describe it

The first approach was much easier in my experience.

Just got secondary! Feeling blessed

Sent in the secondary, check, and letters this morning.... now I have another school to patiently wait for 😴
