I think we should have a postmatch thread so people waiting to hear when interviews are offered and what spots get filled. Knowing its over so that we can stop waiting by the computer for an email is a blessing.

Has anyone has any luck getting ahold of the post-match sites?

Has anyone received an offer for a post match pedo position?

Most of sites, especially Brooklyn, are production mills. Brooklyn has you work 2 night clinics per week. Lutheran's bottom line is their dollar, then your education via their teleconference scheme.

Their one exception is Alaska.

I interviewed at LMC Holyoke and Tucson. I liked Holyoke much more because they seemed more organized. One thing about Lutheran is they don't have as many faculty on staff to teach residents compare to other programs I've interviewed. Your education may not be as well rounded as your peers in other programs. But hey, you still come out as a pediatric dentist, and you don't have to pay tuition.
 
Question: What is the best way to approach for post match positions. I applied through PASS right away , ent a email, tried calling since but no luck. I'm just getting very disappointed and hopeless now . Is there anything else i can do ?

Did you try calling the programs directly? Be persistent. Keep calling them until you can speak to somebody. Good luck
 
Has anyone been able to reach Bronx Lebanon? I want to pay for my PASS application to them - but want to know if the positions are still open?

The Pedo faculty at my dental school speak quite poorly of the LMC programs. The didactic foundation for their residents is just not there, and they try to pump out as many residents as possible, regardless of how well they are trained. At many of their satellite clinics they do not have enough faculty to give the residents meaningful coverage. Our pediatric dentistry department chair went so far as to tell a meeting of students interested in pedo residency that they recommended that we not even apply to those programs.

Yes, they pay you, but they are fast becoming the "Small Smiles" of Pedo residencies. As one of the previous posters mentioned, they run pedo mill style programs. The private practice pediatric dentists that teach occasionally at my school have had the same types of comments. Not a lot of positive things to say about those programs. But I guess at the end of the day, they will be pediatric dentists just like the rest of us.

Sorry if it sounds like I am ragging on the LMC programs too harshly, but those are the serious concerns that my faculty and private practice mentors have brought up repeatedly when asked. 🙁
 
Thanks for the info.. Guess this doesn't leave with a lot more options. So if I have to reapply next year what do I need to improve on my application. I have 3 yrs of experience working in Pediatrics. I donot have a GPR though. So work on my references ?

Kidzteeth.. I tried calling them numerous times, I think because of high call volumes they are not taking calls anymore.

I did get ahold of someone on Monday - and let my name and number - but nothing came of it?

**How about UNLV? Someone at my school had said that they heard UNLV gave out their interviews for post match already...anyone know if this is true?

Thanks for sharing! So far no news here 🙁 it does provide some comfort to know that the door is closed. Tom Petty said it best "Its the waiting that the hardest part" Congrats to those who still have a chance.
 
If rumor mills are to be believed then Nyu, Bronx
Spots are filled but again can't be sure until someone
confirms. I had hopes with Lutheran but haven't
heard back from them. Fingers crossed.

I've seen a trend in the Pedo match results that most everyone who matched did a lot of volunteers, community outreach, externships at different programs. Maybe it's something to consider. Good luck!!

When I interviewed at USC, a senior pedo faculty told me that you don't learn in LMC's pedo programs. You just work with kids, and eventually you get fast at it. Yes, it could sound like "Small Smiles" or "Kool Smiles"
 
A classmate of mine actually had an interview at LMC Brooklyn this week. I spoke with UNLV on Monday and they told me the director was still going through applications. I left my name and number with his assistant but still waiting to hear from them. Can anyone confirm the NYU spots as filled?
 
LMC roundup. Sounds like NY, ME, an CA are off the table. Only WA and HI are not accounted for. Thank you to everyone keeping us "hopefulls" in the loop!
 
NYU spots are filled, as mentioned above. I got in touch with the director.
 
NYU and Bronx-Lebanon are filled. LMC Brooklyn held 12 interviews total Tuesday and Thursday for 3 spots. Anyone know if the positions were offered there? Other LMC programs with unmatched spots have not sent invites yet.

LMC Brooklyn, San Diego and Maine have offered interviews so far

We are still waiting on LMC WA (Yakima), LMC Hawaii and LMC Missouri

I didn't realize there's an LMC Missouri. This sounds like a cooporation of residency program. They must be making big money off of residents!!

Indeed. LMC Brooklyn has Saturday clinics, night clinics on Mon and Tuesday. Majority of the faculty are recent grads. Dollar, dollar bills! Just like all their aegd/gprs.

Not just recent grads, recent grads from their programs!!! Talk about a narrow education.
 
LMC Hawaii's post match spots have been filled according to the director at that site

Just LMC Yakima and Missouri as well as UNLV still open
 
i actuallly think its a + that the attendings are recent grads....they are fresh in the pedo world, still understand what it means to be a resident, and are usually helpful, plus i assume they arent stuck in their ways like some other attendings who are pretty old.....thats just my opinion.

but yes, the night clinic is to make money----they are paying you to be a resident so they want you to make them money. at least you'll get great exposure, large pt pool, and a lotttt of experience.

It is GME funding... different ball game.

Recent grads are great instructors because they have limited experience within the four walls you are walking in! Sounds like a win-win.

Lutheran Brooklyn is so busy milling their residents their sedation quota will be giving the kids versed before the OR. Maryland did not even have a director, sedation or even having one bit being consistent.

This corporation mill relies on government funding (FHQC, i.e. most are in rural areas/poor) and GME funding to screw over the tax payers to make a buck off people who will do anything to get into the specific residency.

Speaking of Maryland not having a director, turns out they are actively seeking one through recruiters. I just got this e-mail from a recruiter, guess they came across one of my old job posts:eyebrow::

All the interviews concluded today for LMC's San Diego, Yamika, Missouri and Tucson.

They told us we should know the decisions by the first part of April (though one site did say April 1)

No more interviews will be given out - LMC is conducting its own "mini-match" with these 4 programs

LMC's Maine, Brooklyn and Hawaii have filled their spots as well as UNLV, Bronx and NYU
