Sun burned. Still haven't learned my lesson. Hopefully can work out in the morning without too much pain. Good thing I was as covered in clothing as I was.

Now to wait for the results.
So, anyone else who took it not have any clue how frequently to have the "well physical" followups actually follow up? One of them I dragged out to 60 odd days because I kept telling them to come back in a couple weeks before I finally said "come back when you need me". Instant end.
The ED ones were easy.

From what I have learned in my lowly 2 years (and personal experience for several years), well physical follow-ups are once a year ideally. Of course, I'm sure you know pt compliance on that one. Women are better at it than men, esp if they want their birth control.

Oh and that's only if the patient was "well." If they have diabetes, HTN, hyperlipidemia, it will be different. (more often, like you mentioned, somewhere around 60-90 days while you wait for a new drug regimen and personal lifestyle changes to happen)

A couple days and the whole graduation debacle will be over. Can't wait. Wish I could just hang out with my classmates and skip the rest of the stuff.

my throat hurts 🙁🙁

sitting throug the lectures these past few days, reminds me how much i love clinical medicine, and how little i'm cutt out to be a basic scientist.

Nice to see you around again. I was starting to think ineedsleep was taking over your place here. I'm glad we have 2 of you!

Hope the sore throat gets better!

Why is it that that's what I hear from most 4th years?

Just be glad your graduation is all in one room (I'm assuming) unlike ours. If the people on our list aren't at the top, they get to see us on a screen. Not cool at all.

That's the hard part. These people needed screenings for things. Obviously they have to come back for their results.
Of course, taking that part is sort of like taking nursing exams (I've heard). It finishes before the time is up if you do what you are supposed to, or if you fail miserably. Although I don't know how little time should be involved, none of them took very long.

going to be a rough day at this rate.

I had a small-group discussion with an OB/Gyn yesterday, and she said that she thought men should have to go through Pap smears. Then she repeated herself 3 times. What does that mean?

It's going to take her a long long time to find the cervix on those exams.

 These are both good answers.

I thought she either wanted a test for the same disease in men (swab men for HPV) or she wanted a similar exam in men, and the disease you tested for was irrelevant (prostate?).

I think she meant the latter because she wanted men to be more empathetic. Or she wanted to punish men. 😱

I'm guessing empathetic effect, but I'm pretty sure without the same anatomy, it would be pretty hard to do the "same" exam on guys. If the subject was on STDs, then maybe she meant guys should come in once a year like females do. And if neither of these apply, maybe it came from the stereotype OB/GYN (bitter.... because they should have done EM :meanie:)

It's not that late in the day, yet I have been more productive today than any other day this week. Maybe I just needed some time off. And lots less sleep. Don't know exactly how the less sleep played into today besides maybe not having the energy to do anything but sit...if that. Pupil is starting to get hidden by the eyelid though, so almost nap time. A few more pages first.

Nah, hopefully she was talking about rectal swabs for HPV, since it is indicated for the majority of anal cancers, and 50% of oral cancers in men now. Pretty soon they'll be taking the vaccine as well.
But yes, it ends up being using the ducklips on some dude, and swabbing the insides for cytology.

I passed my cumulative! Now I have motivation to study for boards...because I have nothing better to do. Well, besides post here.

Now is when I feel like my avatar.

Where have you been lately? You seem like you are pre-occupied with something/someone...

I wish it was here...

Just learned from a friend the other day that Columbus has as many days of cloudiness as Seattle...that's just GREAT. 🙁

If it makes either of you feel better, we don't have a climate pattern here. One year we will get more clouds than sun, and the next year it could be the opposite.

This year has definitely been one with more clouds. I almost forgot what the sun looked like. Then I thought it was March when it first came around, and it was just this past Monday (obviously May).

The only entertainment we get out of this weather is watching the weather person try to predict it.

Hope you can get better soon so that you can enjoy what little time you have left. I guess most at our school do the parting at the end of 2nd year before we go all over the place.

Are you moving to a new apt? For some reason, I was under the impression you weren't going too far from where you were/are, but I may have assumed this.

I just woke up from the most terrific nap. I have a feeling it's going to bite me here in a few hours.

Congrats to everyone on:

1) passing their boards :hardy: +

2) graduating from preclinicals to the wards :scared: +
3) graduating and becoming newly-minted doctors 😱 + :biglove:

4) getting job offers and getting ready to become attendings! + 😀

It's heartening that we're all part of this constant cycle in medicine...I can almost hear "The Circle of Life" playing from Lion King at this point.

Anatomically, the closest thing for guys would be having INO caths / Foleys. Not fun. 🙁

Psychologically-speaking the DREs are pretty close in that they can make one feel less of a man 👍 -> 😱 = :meanie:

i am moving into a new apartment... it's going to be the first time i've lived alone in 5 years 🙁🙁 i am not looking forward to it... i'm going to miss my roommate... plus she has custody of "pride and prejudice" and sense and sensibility" in the divorce battle

I think SOMEONE took care of Sense and Sensibility while on a shopping spree! 😛

I second the fact that it's going to be weird living alone (I've always had roommates). Luckily I own "Pride and Prejudice" Too bad my copy of "Sense and Sensibility" is on a permanent vacation with my sister in California.

I'll second this too. Couldn't have put it better. Congrats on your new place too.

YAY!!! Student no longer!!! :clap::clap::clap:

Update: I had a horrible nightmare last night that I was working in my home ED as I am currently, an MD who hasn't begun residency. I would see these cases, put in orders, but then run all over damnation trying to get my orders verified. I was like, "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!". It was horrible, cause I really felt like the patients needed the stuff I was ordering! :scared:

so what am I? Not a medical student any more but not yet a resident... 😕

<sigh> where is everybody? My family is still in town but I left my cell phone in hubby's car and have no way of finding them. They might still be sleeping, we didn't get home till after midnight. 🙁
