Seems pretty self-explanatory.
I understand what it means, but do people actually get interviews on the waitlist? I did not know they had a waitlist for interviews.

From what I have seen, people get rejected all the time pre-interview. So an interview waitlist is not as awful as it seems. I still think you have a chance. I would just keep in touch with admissions and state your case for why you should get an interview at a later date.
Thanks for the quick response. I will email them with my continued innterest in their program.
My first deposit is due this Friday, but I went ahead and put it in today. But you're right.. the first wave is due on Friday! My interpretation on this is that people who got offered for their acceptances earlier have deadlines for deposits at the end of this week or next week (don't quote me on this one). So, they want to wait and see the movement of students who will actually make deposits here. Until then, they don't want to invite everyone to interview, I guess (even though you are a good candidate). On the portal, I see that the interview schedule is available till February. Before the holiday season starts, your status will become more definite I assume. This is just my speculation.
I believe that the admission committee meets tomorrow and makes decisions.
Sorry to post this again but no one responded. Did anyone apply to Rocky Vista through their Early Action program? I want to know if this is a self-limiting thing to do.. Thanks!
I was accepted today as well. I received a phone call at about 9am that the dean reversed the decision on my file. I interviewed today at 2pm, and they told me before I left for the day. I don't know how it happened, but it did, and I'm going to RVU... I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!! I AM SO HAPPY!!!
Congrats! I don't understand...the dean reversed the decision? Were you rejected then accepted?
They accepted you the same day they interviewed you? Without the admissions committee meeting?
haha you must explain... this is good!
Accepted today as well 😉 congrats to all acceptances!!

Hey everyone! I was hoping for some help here... I just received the 'interview waitlist' email and I would really love the chance to interview. Do you guys think submitting a LOI would be beneficial at this point or would an email and/or call to admissions suffice?

Ok, but is that for the entire cost of attendance? I literally have nothing to put towards this, plus I have thousands of dollars of debt from undergrad.
I was DQ'd because of defects in my spine from 12 years of gymnastics. Who knew the sport that kept me fit and healthy for most of my childhood would be the sole reason I couldn't qualify? Such BS. Anyway.I had the same problem with HPSP. I was DQ'd due to 10 mg/night of celexa that I take for test anxiety, so I feel your pain there. The good news is unless you have an awful credit history, you can get the HPLV loan on your own that is about 7.25% + LIBOR right now. As stated above, if you have someone with good income/credit who is willing to cosign, you can get much better rates. Remember though, it is a variable rate loan so the rate you start with will likely not be the rate you end with. In the last 25 years, LIBOR has been in excess of 11% at times (though brief periods of time, this is still scary to me).
The best thing to do is to pay the loan off as soon as possible. I plan to live very simply the first 5 years I'm an attending and put a large percentage of my income to the loan. Also, though it is not the case currently, historically there have been times when refinancing was an option... here's hoping that will be an option when the time comes for me!I still love the school and feel it's worth it. If the school is a good enough fit for you, I believe it will be worth it to you as well.
I'm interested in RVU.. Has the stigma dissapeared yet? How are the later students doing?
It seems that most of the stigma comes from angry SDN kids. And of course, the school is new and has a funny name so it's not that well-known to a lot of folks. RVUCOM had the highest pass rate for COMLEX Step I this year. We're still waiting to see where the OMS-IV's match for residencies in March.
It most likely means that the Admissions Office is waiting to receive additional information such as fall grades or updated MCAT scores before making a final decision regarding your interview status. Make sure that all of your information is updated via AACOMAS. Of course you can always call the Admissions folks to find out why you were placed on the waitlist.
Current RVU students,
What have you been hearing about the performance of your class (if an OMS III or IV) or the 3rd and 4th years overall? What have you been hearing from your clinical preceptors? Has it matched what you've heard from the school itself?
Some of the RVU students rotating at St. Joseph, National Jewish, Swedish, Porter along with the CU students are getting excellent recommendation letters. So RVU'er are meeting & surpassing preceptors expectations, especially if preceptors are using CU students as benchmark.
By the way, COCA accreditation team did their review of college and rotation sites and left today extremely pleased. As per Dean, "All the team members were impressed by everything they saw. They recognized the exceptional accomplishments of students, staff, faculty and administration, in everything they witnessed. Their report had NO requirements. This is almost unheard of in any visit, especially at a new school!! They passed along three commendations and six recommendations that they felt will help us achieve even greater heights."
Congrats on the COCA review!
As for the clinical performance -- that's great to hear. If true, it is certainly a different perspective from the things I am hearing from my contacts at several of RVU's training sites. I'll have to ask some of the CU faculty I know what their impression is. I was legitimately concerned as to how RVU grads would fare in residency programs based on the feedback I was hearing from precepting physicians I work with and am in close relationship with. (Comments have generally been along the lines of "the performance of the M4s would be barely acceptable of M3s on this unit" and "they should be seeing patients with some level of independence by now and are still little more than flies on the wall" which is a bit, well, concerning to someone who works with a team of faculty and student mentors to advise pre-medical students, many of whom are strongly considering the local DO school -- i.e., RVU.) I sincerely hope it is as you say it is; I would very much like to see RVU succeed in providing much-needed physicians to the Rocky Mountain region and I have friends who are currently M1-M3s at RVU (as well as friends at CUSOM).
music2doc - I wouldn't place too much stock into the performance of the first class. They seem to be an interesting bunch. While they are doing alright, the following classes are doing far better. I'm sure you've heard of 2013's COMLEX scores. The only information I have about 2012 comes from the military match. Several RVU students matched to the most competitive residencies - Anesthesiology, ortho, etc. Hope that helps a little.
