San Francisco State University.
Has anyone done their postbac? What were your experiences with it?? Good or bad?

Do a search. There've been a good few discussions about SFSU.NRAI2001 said:San Francisco State University.

Esteban said:I am starting CSULB in August- I'd like to complete a B.S. in biology. I've heard good things about CSULB, so I hope it will be a good experience. I took a year and half off for personal and financial reasons.
MediMama23 said:Awesome! I plan to be there, too, for location reasons (else I would've tried out SDSU or SFSU; SDSU seems to have a REALLY good premed advising system). Do you know anything about CSULB's Premed Advising program?
adpitan said:I am in my second semester at SFSU and so far am loving it. I have to agree about the location but since I am relcutant to move I am making it work. One thing to consider about SFSU is that a formal Post Bac program has been approved and will begin this summer and will be certificate granting. The courses are fairly easy to get into and if you are a part of the formal program you are promised a spot in each class. The post bac community is very supportive with a number of groups to be involved in. Check out http://online.sfsu.edu/~brothman/index.htm and this should provide more detailed information pertaining to the schools programs. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

adpitan said:Yep, just approved this semester and scheduled to start this Summer. Admitting 25 ppl, will be a certificate granting program. Cost for 2 yrs is approx $28K, they promise a spot in the classes they have blocked off and you will get LORS. Figures, I already start and get into and then they add this! bah! Oh, well.
NRAI2001 said:Isnt the certificate program more expensive (28k) than if you just did the informal post bacc?
Does anyone have a link to the list of classes they offer this fall? Is there any website or any email list where you can get info about what classes are good and what classes are not worth taking?
There is a 70% chance i ll be at sfsu next fall. 👍 👎 😕
$28K for SF State??? Is this a special price for OOS students? The usual tuition for students pursuing a second bachelors is $3K/year currently for instate students. And most folks doing the informal program that I've talked to have not had problems getting classes or getting letters of rec.adpitan said:Admitting 25 ppl, will be a certificate granting program. Something's a bit fishy here. Unless the cert students are given their own classes with smaller sizes or something, I'm not sure where the added value (or $22K of cost is).
Yikes. This is good news to know, adpitan. I was accepted to SF State and considered attending before ultimately deciding to go to Mills. The cheaper tuition at State was a big attraction. $28K is a very tough sell.adpitan said:Sorry to deliver the bad news about the cost but I'm just relaying the information that is out there.
