Essays
1. Talked about how I was interested in small animal GP, how I love the client relationships you build and how you experience everything as a GP. Also mentioned how I want to apply my behavior and fear free knowledge as a veterinarian and how important it is to understand animal behavior as a vet.
2. Talked about how much veterinarians contribute to both animal and human health, how important it is for GP's to educate clients about wellness/vaccination/parasite prevention especially for zoonotic diseases. Mentioned how I want to bring more awareness to behavior issues and how important fear free is to making sure clients/patients have good experiences and feel comfortable bringing their pets in regularly
3. The attributes I talked about were flexibility and communication
For my Tufts essay I talked about my experience joining the debate club in college and how it helped me overcome my public speaking anxiety and how I ended up running my own committee for our Model UN conference.
Takeaway
I was worried about my average GPA and my lack of research and LA experience but I really think my GRE scores helped (I got interviews at the four schools that required it and rejected at the two that didn't). I also think I interviewed well and showed that I was knowledgeable about the career, the debt that comes along with as well as the mental health issues plaguing the profession (at least that's what my interviewers said)
