Hey guys. In a bit of a dilemma right now and looking for some advice. Essentially I have acceptances at MayoClinic SURF (in a regen. med. lab) and at GSK SURP (doesn’t notify of lab placement until acceptance on March 19th). In terms of my background I am a sophomore and I have 3 important research experiences under my belt. One was in regenerative medicine and two were centered around genomics—I am primarily interested in the latter field. I hope to be heading towards a PhD after college.

I’ve seen a bit of posts regarding Mayo and it’s acceptance rate, but not much about GSK so I was wondering if there was any more info about the program/it’s “prestige”. I essentially would have to accept this offer not knowing what lab I would be placed into which is really scary to me, so I was wondering if anyone knew more. If anyone could give any advice regarding what they would do in this situation that would be amazing. Thanks!

I've always wondered why programs do silent rejections. BE LOUD AND PROUD ABOUT HOW WE ARE TOO INFERIOR FOR YOU.

Does SUIP @ UPenn also do silent rejections? Seems to be the case but it'd be great if one of you could confirm. I have yet to hear back from Vanderbilt MSTP, the JAX Summer Student Program, SURF @ University of Cincinnati, and of course SUIP@Penn.

I have committed to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology - Summer Research Program in Biology/Neuroscience. I felt I couldn't pass up the opportunity to be at MIT. I am interested in the outcome of the Dartmouth MPUS offer, but they seem to be so late in their decisions.

Update: Just received an acceptance from Dartmouth MPUS!

However, gut tells me to stay with MIT - SRP in Bio! Congrats everyone on their acceptances!

I heard back from WUSTL Amgen on 3/1 with an acceptance. I declined the offer on 3/3 with a decision to commit to an alternate program.

NOPE I’m a mess of nerves over it. I emailed and asked about my status and the director just said it’s rolling and go through April 1. I also haven’t heard from the program I’m waitlisted from so I’m starting to admit defeat on those fronts. I got accepted somewhere else but I’m just not as interested in the program
