Hi everyone--for those of you who have already interviewed, has anyone received a rejection or wait-list notification? Is no news still good news, or should we start to expect the worse if we don't receive an acceptance soon?

the email only stated that interviews start feb 8 and held only on fridays

Interesting. Interviews start Feb 8? Does this mean that there haven't been any interviews since Christmas?

If so, then I'm going to guess that they are going to let the rest of us who have interviewed (but still haven't heard back) this next week (the week of the 8th.)

(Obviously this is just speculation on my part, but I think that would make sense.)
 
There have been January interviews. What that means is that they are probably booked until February 8th.
I am also curious to know when they will start sending next round of acceptances since class doesn't seem to be filled yet.
 
They said they are going to be going very slow and waiting until Feb 26, when the last interviews are before trying to fill the class up
 
That's true, they did say they would be going slowly I just didn't think it would be that slow. Thanks for the info.
 
Update for those wondering: I called the other day and the lady said they are interviewing through March and there are still seats available. I believe there are a few more interview days that are open for the school to send invites. Good luck everyone, fingers crossed!

ugh i hate the waiting. its killer!! anyone think i have a chance of getting an interview still?

my stats are 3.0undergrad, 3.4masters, 24aa, 21pat, 25ts, thesis lots of research, ec's and whatnot

I think you definitely have a shot. Columbia seems to value the DAT more highly than other things, and your DAT is stellar.
 
Not to be negative, but by now I'm figuring it's pretty late in the game. They might still be interviewing but I feel like they've given out the invites for those already.
 
I interviewed on 1/4 and I have yet to hear back from them. I remember them saying that they would notify us when they made a decision (acceptance waitlisted or rejection). anyone that interviewed since then hear back yet?

They said that they're still finalizing the list of potential interviewees. So there is a shot, at least a small one.

My app was mailed out on 10/26, and I interviewed there on 1/4 (got the invitation sometime around Thanksgiving). Still waiting to hear back.
 
when does the email for the invite get sent out? is it friday? i heard the adcom meets every friday to go over applicants

The interview invite seems to be sporadic. I looked at past posts, and there doesn't seem to be any pattern. 🙁. Although, I did find out that Columbia interviews ~318 each year and ~15 interviewees each time on a Friday. I don't know how many interview days are left though, and so I can't estimate how many interview spots are left. I've been really anxious for an invite as well...
 
Has anyone who interviewed in January or February heard back from Columbia?

I know... I'm so nervous about this! When I interviewed two weeks ago, they said that they would let us know in about two weeks. I'm like, I check my phone every minutes, check my email every minutes T_T...but no news yet...

So I just called and apparently the official last day for interviews is next Friday (2/22) but I was also told that not receiving an interview invite doesn't mean a rejection (yet)... the adcoms may continue calling for interviews until they reach their quota. Regarding my status I was told to call back sometime next week... Yeah :X

Good luck everyone who has interviewed 🙂

🙁. I'll just wait for my rejection letter. There's only a week left till the last interview. My heart just broke a little...

I know I feel the same way. Who knows maybe someone can call on Tues and ask them just to verify. Things do change... they may add another interview date however unlikely it seems. Every cycle is different.
 
Called them today. Confirmed that those who haven't gotten an interview are rejected. 🙁. Oh well...
 
Greenvneck, just out of curiosity, what day of the week did you hear back from Columbia? Thanks!

Or you can prepare for the worst and be super happy when something good happens. Just a differing view of life. To be honest though, I'm almost 100% sure that those who haven't gotten interviews are rejected. Diana Lugo seemed hesitant and said that I was denied. Her tone seemed to express condolence. Quite a nice lady. I really would have liked a chance to interview.
 
I just don't understand... If they know they are rejecting some people, why haven't they told us yet? It just seems downright mean to keep us hanging...
 
I think its called 'silent rejection.' If you havent received an interview invite from them by now, youre most likely rejected. I havent heard anything from Columbia either since like September but whateve, life goes on.

If you don't mind me asking, when did you have your interview? I had mine on Feb 1st and am waiting to hear back. I remember Dr. Zubiarre telling us that we would hear back in about two weeks but still no response... At this point, I have doubt about my chance but the waiting is definitely killing me T_T...
 
So if the adcoms meet each friday -- should we be hearing about our status the friday after we interview?

I already called them to ask but they said that the decision has not been made yet. Frankly though, I think it is a bad news that they do not want to release because Dr. Zubiarre said that the decision will be made a week from interview date (when the ADCOM meets) and it would be released in about two weeks from the interview date. 🙁

For everyone who has not yet received an invite (myself included): I just called and asked about our status and was told that today was technically the last interview date. I asked if that meant a silent rejection for everyone else (like me) and she said she couldn't tell me for certain because they haven't finalized everything yet- they will be doing so within the next two weeks, and to check AADSAS for updates. Doesn't look good but congrats to everyone who is in and/or interviewed.
 
When they meet on Friday's, they are not only discussing you, they are comparing you to applicants interviewed before you (can be anyone) that are still under review. So they are discussing you, the most recently interviewed, and others who interviewed in January and pre-dec who have not been rejected or accepted.
