Wow, congrats on Denver. They haven't even downloaded my application yet!

Wow, congrats on Denver. They haven't even downloaded my application yet!
Thank you. Some explanation is in order (which will hopefully stem the tide of PMs I've been getting). I'm rotating with them and they offered. I don't know if they do so with all rotators, or just the ones in their career track, or just me. I also don't know any of the other interview dates. I was surprised, as I thought they waited for the Dean's Letter before sending out offers.

What a relief.

I'll find out about the rotation soon. Everyone I've spoken to says it's amazing. But snooze? What happened to Racine's?

New pet peeve I've discovered:

When programs send me an ERAS message just letting me know they have downloaded my application. I can already see that! Don't they understand that every time I see a message in ERAS I poop myself? Only email me if you are giving me an interview!

I was very excited to get my first interview today. LVH in PA. I also received an interview from UNM but that is because I am rotating there at some point so I dont feel it benefits anyone if I post below as they are clearly not handing out interviews unless you are rotating yet. At some point I will add my UNM interview but it is too early now I think...
cheers

What are the UNM dates? I already did an away there and got the same message - "you can come back and interview when you want."

just curious so i can plan ahead for travel.

Geez- my friends in ob/gyn, peds, FP, and even some surgical subspecialties are getting interview invites left and right. I think based on past threads- we probably have another month before things really heat up for EM.:(

New pet peeve I've discovered:

When programs send me an ERAS message just letting me know they have downloaded my application. I can already see that! Don't they understand that every time I see a message in ERAS I poop myself? Only email me if you are giving me an interview!

Co-signed.

I'm officially pooping in my pants now...zero invites thus far. Will EM be history for the history of EM?

I'm officially pooping in my pants now...zero invites thus far. Will EM be history for the history of EM?

One of my younger attending who just finished residency said he got ONE interview before the dean's letter came out. He said, like everyone else in EM, just be patient.

I hope I'm not deluding myself, but my theory as to why I may not have heard anything yet, aside from the fact that most of my app was only uploaded by programs about a week ago, is this (and I believe it may apply to others, as well):

EM is a clerkship done early in the 4th year at my school, and I didn't do an elective in it because my 3rd year elective was early and I still wasn't sure about EM - so, (apologies for this run-on sentence) I rotated in EM this July, asked for letters of rec in August, got two yesses in early Sept, and I'm still waiting for said letters to get to my school for uploading onto my app. So long story / convoluted sentence short, I have NOT sent in any EM (S)LoRs.

Therefore, I believe many programs are awaiting EM (S)LoRs before sending out invites. And, hopefully, in the coming week or two I'll receive some anyway. Like I said, I only got my app out a little over week ago. But I do think many programs may be awaiting those letters, and I'm sure many others are in the same position I am of waiting for those letters to get to your school due to late rotations in EM.

I hope despite the poor grammar I made my point.

One more thing: congrats to everyone who has gotten invites so far - great job! I can't wait to hear how interviews go.

Jake

folks, there really are not a lot of programs handing out interviews. way too early to stress.

Also, the 2 I got were right after all my letters were uploaded and downloaded as well as my transcript so I do believe the poster above is right in that when your application is complete, you are more likely to at least get something unless you are applying to places that are not yet sending out invites.

stay calm. good luck

My student affairs office said that my EM grade from July was not on my trasncript yet when my ERAS was submitted. They say it will be on it when they re-scan transcripts on October 15. Do you all think not having my grade in yet is/will keep me from many interview invites before the re-scan?

Thanks.

Have you tried just asking them to make an exception and scan it now since EM is a 4th yr course unlike all the 3rd year ones. That's exactly what I did, I emailed them and nicely asked, they were glad to help, they even added the comments on my Dean's Letter.

Gluck

My student affairs office said that my EM grade from July was not on my trasncript yet when my ERAS was submitted. They say it will be on it when they re-scan transcripts on October 15. Do you all think not having my grade in yet is/will keep me from many interview invites before the re-scan?

Thanks.

This might work depending on how nice the Dean's Office is. But the grade will be on the SLOR so I doubt it would make much of a difference to have the transcript with the grade on it unless there is some "screening process" in which transcript grades are used.

One of my younger attending who just finished residency said he got ONE interview before the dean's letter came out. He said, like everyone else in EM, just be patient.

Thanks, bro. I'm losing sleep.

Hey folks-
like several others have already done earlier, I am bailing out of this thread as I think it is causing others and myself more stress than necessary.
good luck!
