****The Official Temple University Class of 2019 Interview/Acceptance Thread****

Would you guys mind posting when you interviewed?

I interviewed 11/10.

Temple tried to call to congratulate me and my crappy old phone froze and shut off when I tried to accept the call 😕 That's it. I'm upgrading my phone today

Congrats everyone!!!

Dr. Donatelli called me while I was in a seminar. I was confused and quickly stepped out but I was pleased to hear him say congrats!

You got an email and a call?

Yea both. I was not prepared for the call but it was nice to hear a genuine congrats from a faculty member.
That's awesome! I wonder if I'll get a call later today or something.

To all who got accepted today:

Are you guys out-of-state or in-state?

Thanks!

Accepted! Out of state and interviewed on 11/17.
Got an email 9:02 PM PST and a call an hour ago!

It was an email with financial aid info, some forms we have to fill out, vaccine records etc, and info on scholarships we can apply for. Did you not get it?

There aren't that many scholarships right? There are only 2 that are fully paid (not if you are OOS).

Congrats to everyone! Got accepted 12:02 AM on the 1st! I'm torn between here and another school, though. I'm also OOS and interviewed October 9th!

is anyone stuck between temple and an ivy (columbia/penn) and can give any insight as to what the better option is?

I was previously stuck between Columbia and Temple but I've decided to go Columbia. I want to be a general, but here were my reasons pro-Columbia:
-Columbia's community seems fantastic, and is very similar to the one I've had in undergrad, meaning everyone works incredibly hard, but it's very supportive. Apparently at Temple they were having a cheating problem so they took away everyone's scrap paper for tests. That's not the kind of community I want to be a member of. Attendance is also required there, and similarly, I don't want to go to a school that treats me like I'm in high school.
-location. Even though Washington Heights isn't NYC's best, it's still better than North Philly

Cons for columbia:
-Less clinical experience, and since I only want to be a general, this is def a bigger negative.
-COST
-very academically difficult in the first two years, and since I don't want to specialize, I don't really need the prestige of the program.

I'm sure EVERY program has had a cheating incident. In fact, Columbia has been on the news SEVERAL times about cheating lol. Both schools are great. If the decision is becoming harder to make as Jan 1st approaches, sit down with your parents, friends, and family and have a discussion with them about it. The most important thing is that you go where you will be happy.

I was actually going to come back here to add to my post before- I realize that I was being harsh. Every group of people comes with bad apples, and with Temple being a larger school, there is simply a larger probability of there being more bad apples. (Which is probably more of the underlying reason that Columbia felt more 'right' to me, the smaller class size being something I'm drawn to.) I'm being very nitpicky right now, and that's something that I'm grateful I have the ability to. Both are fantastic schools where I'd get a great education.

that's a great list and i agree with everything you have said! i want to specialize so that's another reason for me. i'll be picking columbia also! see you next fall

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted so far, I am hoping to hear good news soon. Does anyone have any idea when Temple will release the next round of acceptances? Looking at last years posts seems like a second round of offers went out a week after Dec 1st - really hoping to hear good news this week. Temple is my first choice!

Most schools send out the second wave the week of Jan 5th

I just got an acceptance email at 1:59pm today. So I think they are sending some out these next few days.
Congrats!! When did you interview? Do you think you will accept the offer? I am hoping to get some love from them soon - hope to see you at Temple !

Congrats on your acceptance! Hope you hear soon! My first choice, accepted December 1st. Great school and the best interview process out of all 4 of my interviews! I hope everyone that is waiting gets good news for the holidays!

Congratulations to everyone who's made it. Stay patient if you're still waiting.

For those on edge between one school or another, Temple is by no means the perfect dental school, but whether you end up here by choice or by fate, you will find yourself challenged and stretched everyday to become clinically elite by the time you graduate. There are many opportunities here to succeed and many alumni you can network with. North philly is not as sketch as you might think. Living in center city has been great. Most importantly, everyone is down to earth and as far as I can tell from my first semester here, I think it's going to be a great 4 years.

If anyone has questions, feel free to post or PM. I hope to provide as much unbiased information as I can from my personal experience. (Disclaimer: I probably won't know much about when the next round of interviews are coming out though, sorry 😉).

I interviewed at Temple on 11/19. I enjoyed my time there and came away really impressed, unfortunately I ended up going over the 5 minutes in the interview, was caught off guard how fast time went and felt okay about the interview but really enjoyed the school. I have NOT heard back yet, is that normal to not hear back or would they usually wait-list or reject me after a certain date.

I don't think that would be a reason to reject you, if so you would have probably heard by now. Keep the faith! I'm waiting too!

Anyone who has already gotten accepted mind sharing your gpa and dat stats?

Going over the time limit should not be a huge deal if the content was good.

I got accepted earlier this month, but am a little thrown off by the N. Philly area. Do you have any insight on areas where most dental students live while they attend Temple? I'm looking for a safe/ fun/ commutable location. Money isn't a huge issue as long as the area is nice and worth the price. Thanks in advance!!

i guess no acceptance package 😕. They were the only school that didn't give me a information folder .

They sent out the emails though. I think we have plenty of info so far. However, I'm sure that we will get something in January.
