Well, got back to school and sure enough, I DID have a WL letter from UTH. I was very excited, it was like an acceptance letter...but not.


DianaUT, same thing was mentioned to me, I'd say jump on it.

i agree, meet with her. she offered to meet with another one of my friends too. i mean why pass up the chance to meet with the assistant dean of admissions for any med school 🙂

Since there isn't any Texas specific thread in the residency forums, I'll post this question here. I doubt many of us will know as we just got accepted to med school, but here it is anyways.

Since Texas medical schools tend to accept applicants who will stay and practice in-state, do Texas residency programs do the same? I would assume they would if they follow the idea that most people tend to practice in the same or similar area where they completed their residency.

Based upon solely anecdotal evidence, the answer is definitely yes. This is also something that can be gleaned from match lists.

UTMB was the beginning of August too. I don't think UTSW or San Antonio began until the end of August/beginning of Sept.

Wow, another Pirates of the Caribbean already? Didn't the last one come out only ~1 year ago? I hope they don't wear out the franchise too quickly (I thought that's what would happen with the second one, but it turned out to be pretty good, IMHO.)

Along those same lines, I must say that BSG has regained some of it's previous lustre with this last episode. Cylons are back (what are those sneaky Cylons up to, anyway?) and the storylines are focused on the main characters again (Definitely agree with Doc. Bagel a few posts back that Baltar is the best/most intricate/most developed character on BSG) instead of a bad doctor 🙄 or the labor conditions on a mining ship 🙄

Right, I think that's too obvious at this point, and I don't really think they are part of the final 5. Something else is going on with them. My money is on Roslyn as one of the final 5. Cylons are all into religion/prophecies/philosophy stuff (more than humans) and she is the craziest with that stuff. Also, I don't really think she has cancer (again.) I haven't had cable since I moved to MA, so I haven't seen anything after first season ended. 🙁 I'm just skimming these posts and hoping I'll forget it all before I have enough free time to go rent seasons 2 and on. 1. Cn. Ty- Perhaps. It would explain why he did not die during all the beatings he took in the camp on New Caprica. He does hear the music, so that is anothe clue. It would be rather obvious though.

2. Admiral Adama- This would really cause a heckava lottta people in the fleet to crap bricks if he was a Cylon.

3. Lee Adama- He is much too weak willed to be a Cylon, but who knows?

4. Starbuck husband- Perhaps, But he seems the most human to me.

5. Dee Adama (Lee's wife) - maybe, but there is litte evidence.

6. Laura Roslyn- As Jota said, she is in to all the religious stuff. The cancer recurring sdoes seeem a tad convenient.

7. Starbuck- She's dead, but they might recast the role and bring her back.

8. Roslyn's aide- She heard the music.

9. The cheif- I like that they found him a wife.

10. Gauis Baltar- Old boy is a mac daddy! If he is a Cylon, he sure is one kewl cat!



...Anybody find themselves wishing they could be a cool Cylon like "6", (Baltar's girlfriend) or Athena?

...And WHY do they keep saying they are the only humans left? If they are trying to get to Earth, aren't there people on Earth (the 13th colony?)

...And aren't the people on Earth gonna be pissed when they show up with the Cylons on their tail? What makes them think we can help them win this war.

Ok, so I have a question about Starbuck ... I have "heard" that she wasn't really dead, although Katee was really upset about the storyline this season supposedly. I was on scifi.com forums and the ex producer of BSG (Ronald D. Moore) made an appearance after the starbuck episode and he was very cryptic in his answers specifically dealing with this season/starbuck/and the final 5. I think there is more to the story b/c they were building up this character as the key to earth, and then copped out? Plus there were some "lines" that Starbuck said which users asked about. In which he replied nothing is as it seems and every line has a meaning.

I think she's returning honestly ... at least I hope so.

And baltar is getting off, we all know that already.

RE: Earth and what happens when they get there. There was a really bad sequel series to the original BSG series called Galactica: 1980. The premise was that they actually find Earth (in 1980, which was the year that the series was produced) and find that it is woefully unprepared to fight the Cylons. It was really bad, and most serious BSG: Original fans deny its existance.

On that note, please disregard my last paragraph. I don't know what I was thinking.... 🙂

I'm very very very upset about the George Izzy situation. I really really hope they just conked out before anything too bad could happen. but no matter what i'm mad. poor callie o'malley. she needs some self esteem pumping, but other than that she's pretty much amazing! 🙁 I don't think the situation will work out in anyway to make me happy though.....

I liked Callie before she took up with George. That showed immaturity & self-esteem issues. And poor judgment in men. Or boys, or whatever it is that George is supposed to be. (Hobbledehoy, for those of you who like Trollope.) All the petty bickering (among attendings, between o'malleys, etc) was really painful this most recent show. I hope they stop it.
