Some people are old school and print their lectures...I'd recommend a basic B&W laser printer for <$80. I have the Brother HL-2170W which typically goes on sale for $60-$80 periodically, those random Samsung laser printers also work. B&W lasers will give you the best cost per page out there (the starter toner cartridge lasted me all year).

The only time I printed lectures were for pathophysiology I & II the in-class cases were open note. Kind of sucked, I printed them "just in case" and rarely used them, so I ended up with a stack of paper notes that I just tossed right after since all my stuff is electronic (obviously no laptops allowed).

If you get that HL-2170W, I'll show you a hack to extend the starter cartridge life, it involves sticking some strategic tape over the unit.

Thanks Confetti for your help! Another question. Orientation is coming up this Thurs... is there a dress code for it? Casual or business casual? Are we going to be walking around a lot? If so, I should wear flats.. heh..

Yes, you'll be doing a decent amount of walking (building to building mostly), but you'll be inside a majority of the time. It's going to be hot/muggy/possibly t-stormy.

I wore dark jeans and a polo last year, I wouldn't dress it up (unless you got an email specifically saying so), but I wouldn't look trashy either. Remember, you're meeting your future classmates, try not to come off as a slob.

Some people came in slacks/dress shirts/ties...they looked out of place.

i'm sorry but your math and science gpa is too low.Do you know what kinds of courses you would take in pharm school? ALL SCIENCE!!! If you can;t get the good grades while in undergrad then you wont be able to hack the curriculum in pharm school

mmm...not really

current P-2 classes include:
pharmacy management and theory (financials, etc...)
drug information/literature
medication safety

...don't really consider these science classes

i do have a BS in chemistry... no good?

SYPHARMACY, you definitely have a chance if you meet the minimum GPA requirement. They'll at least look for all the factors and it goes from there. However, if you don't get interviews anywhere, you should definitely see about re-taking some classes to boost those GPAs.

Pharm B, P2 of course is harder than P1... i've always heard that P2 is the worst year. So far its not too too bad but its definitely more work.... busy work is a pain, we have quite a few group projects going on too, some that counts as our final for that class. The hard science classes we have at the moment are pharmacology and somewhat pharmaceutics. Theres also pharmaceutics lab which is pretty fun -- its basically a compounding lab, we've made creams, suspensions, solutions, troches, emulsions and gels (I like lab work so I enjoy it).

Spring semester we will start therapeutics so that should be interesting...

I just received an interview invite! Did anyone else hear back yet?

Hey what were ur stats? Can u share if u dont mind? i want to attend this school but dont know what to expect. my stats are low tho...

Has second year been tougher than P1?

P-2 is harder in its own way, P-1 was a breeze to me at least (felt like 5th year undergrad). The only issues I encountered P-1 were transitioning from work-life to school-life after being out of the educational loop for a few years. It was nice going home at 5 and leaving work at work.

While I mentioned the non-science classes above, we are taking pharmaceutics + lab and pharmacology this semester, and we're diving in full steam ahead. Per my peers at other pharm schools, we're more or less on the same track and learning the same things (perhaps in a diff. order).

However, I am learning more practical things at my hospital IPPE...but this is not a new idea/theme.

I did too! I think I'm leaning towards December 19th. What about you guys?

Nov 21st is my first choice and Dec 18th is my 2nd choice.

Sorry, I meant December 18th. Good luck on your interview!

when did u guys apply? how long after u submitted ur supp did u get an interview?

Did anyone that received an interview invite that already sent in the form ranking interview date preferences get back any sort of confirmation??

Oh and to current Jefferson students, what time are the interviews normally held? Thanks so much!

I got a confirmed interview day two days after I sent my preference of interview dates. They told me that my interview is from 8am to 2pm.

Thanks! I sent back my preferences the day I received an invite (tuesday) and received an email back wednesday morning that I should receive an email in a few days, but I have yet to hear back. I guess I'll just wait a few more days and then email them to see when my interview is.

Good luck with your interview! 🙂

Does anybody know how many questions are asked in an interview??

Hey, I have a question for you guys. I'm thinking about sending an application to Jefferson, but I saw on their website that they require all subject scores in the 70''s, but I have two areas where I have 50's. Are there any people here who've had subject PCAT scores below 70's and gotten an interview?

if you take the PCAT multiple times, you're highest subscore will be considered regardless of the date of the exam, they also consider your highest composite.

70+ composite is considered competitive, but other factors come into play so this is not an absolute strict guideline.

i gave up my seat to interview, hopefully that opened up a spot for somebody here on SDN! 🙂

i had a question. So this school is in candidate status. If i go to this school (thru some miracle) and i graduate while the school is still in candidate status, will i be able to practice/ take the NAPLEX, practice in only pennsylvania or in california?

What is the next level in accrediation after candidate: full accrediation? Does that usually just take 1 year after u recieve candidate? And after full accrediation, will i be able to take the NAPLEX and practice anywhere?

THANKS if any1 knows this. I should really call the college.

I received an interview invitation last week, even though one of my my PCAT subject scores was below below 50 😕

you retain the rights and privileges of a fully accredited school, next step is full accreditation which occurs after your first class graduates.

Those who are interviewing tomorrow GOOD LUCK!

Let us know how it went 🙂

Those who have interviewed here already. What was the process like?

I was wondering if someone could please tell us about your experience on the interview day as well. There is no interview feedback for Jefferson yet (apparently some were created once but got deleted due to system updates at the time, unfortunately). But I would really appreciate any detailed info that could help us prepare and know what to expect...

What types of questions did they ask? I know that there will be two separate interviews, each with a faculty member. Is it open or closed file? Are there certain aspects or topics that each faculty will likely want to ask us about?

Is there a writing portion on the interview day? I read elsewhere on the forum that there is, but my interview schedule does not state that there is one.

Also, would anyone know how long it would take to get from Jefferson to Temple University during noon time? Will there be a lot of traffic?
Thanks so much for any help.

I felt the interview process was pretty good, the faculty and students made whole process less stressful then I had originally thought. The interview process differs for each group of interviewees, my group had the informal group interview with the students first, then by two faculty members, and finally a tour of the campus. Another group had the tour first and then the interviews.

The types of question they had asked were basic, at least for me. The first interview was an open file and the second one was a closed file. Usually they will ask something alone the lines of "So tell me a little about yourself?", "Why pharmacy?", "What achievement(s) are you proud of?", "Your strengths and weaknesses?", etc. I can't really remember if any of the questions had stumped me, but the question's were straight forward, and its safe to say the closed file interview is much smoother than the open file interview if you have to explain any tough grades.

We did not have any writing portions and I personally have no idea how long it would take to get from TJU to Temple, but its safe to say TJU is smack dab in the middle of the city, and from what I saw it was the usual city traffic coupled with notoriously horrible east coast drivers (alot of Jersey drivers in Philly I guess lol), so give yourself an ample amount of time, and don't forget the parking woes of any city.

Thanks for the feedback!! I am going up from FL on the 18th. Did they call you right away with an admissions decision or are you still waiting for a response?

Yup, just got accepted too!, weeeeeeeee!

for those of you who just received acceptances- Congrats! I have an interview coming up and I was just wondering.... how did TJU let you know that you were accepted? email? letter in the mail? Thanks!
