😀😀😀😀😀😀

Seriously, you might be my new favorite WW player😀 Love the posts, also love this movie. Definitely got funnier the second time I watched it.

I hope the wolves won't be as sneaky as in the last game.

We tried walking you through as ghosts, but it didn't help.

From my perspective as a villager, the ghosts were more confusing than the wolves. And I was a dead-chaos-causing player myself twice!

Jeez, you guys take this stuff seriously.

I sleep from like 4am until 12pm so you might as well pretend I'm from a foreign country as well.

I also don't always vote if someone is winning and I don't have an opinion or am fine with that person.

Anywho. I'll be 27 later this year, and I own the Enchanted Forest series (though it's much less fun to read now than it was before - it's kinda silly) and I also have the Dragon's Blood series by Yolen. The author signed those for me. 🙂

Oh good i'll have someone else to talk to when these peeps are all asleep.

And yes..they are silly now...but as a kid? So fantastical.

So whie we are waiting. Would those that have knowledge about the books care to enlighten us about some of the characters?

Which characters would you think are bad and which ones would you think are good?

I can say that the characters in these books are MUCH less grey-area than GoT's are. The bad characters are bad, good are good.

Yes, definitely. And as mods, that's probably all we can say. 😉

I cheated and read through the wiki pages on these books last night. Here is a character list to the first book http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Song_of_the_Lioness#Characters

Obviously Alanna, her bro Tom, George and Jon are good. Jon's cousin, (don't see him in character list, but he is a rival of Alanna's I think) would be bad an d definitely Duke Roger

The power of Wiki:

  • Alanna of Trebond: The protagonist of the series, she is first seen as a stubborn, short-tempered tomboy of ten who desire nothing more than to be a knight, and who convinces her twin brother to switch places with her so that she can pretend to be a boy and therefore earn her knighthood. Fiercely loyal and proud, she is treated with affection by her friends, who rally to protect her even when she declares that she doesn't need their help. As the series progresses, some of her relationships turn into romantic ones, and her womanly sides are shown. She can be tender, though she is usually awkward as she tries to balance her femininity with her knighthood. Inexperienced in love and extremely blunt, she goes through her romantic relationships with all her heart, which endears her permanently to all of her lovers. Good!

  • Thom of Trebond: Alanna's twin, he is proud and arrogant to the point of being obnoxious. His pride leads him to raise Duke Roger, (the prince's evil cousin whom Alanna killed), back to life after Delia, a beautiful cohort of Roger, goads him with the taunt that only the most powerful magicians can raise the dead. He loves no one but himself and Alanna, and eventually dies in Lioness Rampant. Good!

  • Coram Smythesson: Alanna's big, burly, and lovable servant, he is a trained veteran of war and a skilled combatman. Fiercely protective of Alanna, he is more of a father to her than her true father is, as well as a trainer, a friend, and a gruff big brother. Despite the fact that she has been romantically involved with several men, he is protective of her reputation and heart, which leads him to treat Liam Ironarm, (a man interested in Alanna), rudely at first. He later marries Rispah, George's cousin and the Queen of the Rogue's Ladies. Good!

  • George Cooper: George Cooper is not traditionally handsome, but his hazel eyes, long drawl and irrepressible charm makes him just as attractive as the more traditionally beautiful Jonathan. The youngest King of the Rogue in the history of Tortall, he possesses the magical Sight that allows him to "see more clearly than most." A skilled user of knives and an expert in hand-to-hand combat, with many other talents as well, he is a teacher and lover to Alanna, and eventually becomes her husband after retiring as the King of the Rogue and becoming Jonathan's spymaster. Good!

  • Jonathan of Conte: The crown prince and only child of the King and Queen of Tortall, Jonathan is described as extremely handsome, with black hair and blue eyes. Sure of himself to the point of being arrogant, his "princeliness" causes him to treasure Alanna, who is one of the only ones who will make him laugh and tell him the honest, blunt truth. However, it also causes them to clash and ultimately break up when he accuses her of being "unwomanly" and she realizes that she can't stand the idea of being a queen. Good!

  • Gareth of Naxen the Younger (Gary): Intelligent and quick, Gary possesses a sharp mind and an even sharper tongue. He's a good friend to Alanna, whom he finds hilarious, and suspects that she has a secret from the very beginning, though he doesn't figure it out until she tells him of her true gender. Good!

  • Raoul of Goldenlake: Raoul, another friend of Alanna's, is ridiculously big and friendly. He hates social events and, along with Alanna, will hide and avoid them at whatever cost. He loves Alanna as a friend and protectively beats up a boy who bullies her, even though she refuses to admit that she is being mistreated. Good!

  • Alex of Tirragen: A friend of Alanna who turns into a cohort of Duke Roger after becoming his squire, he is described as being, "dark, and quiet, like a cat." Unlike Alanna, though, who is also described as a cat, Alex is secretive. A brilliant swordsman and Raoul's former best friend, he develops an obsession with beating Alanna after her skills threaten to surpass his. BAD

  • Thayet jian Wilima (Later Thayet the Peerless or Thayet of Conte): Later hailed, "the Peerless" as well as the "most beautiful woman in the world," Thayet is a runaway princess from a country at war. Courtly, gracious, and queenly, she is able to take care of herself and has a love for the common people. When she marries Jonathan and becomes queen of Tortall, she starts a chain of reforms that anger many conservatives, including instigating public schools and giving more rights to servants. Thayet is a deft horsewoman as well as a good archer. Good!

  • Rispah: George's cousin, she is witty, buxom, and kind, as well as the leader of the Rogue's Ladies. She later becomes Coram's wife. Good!

  • Liam Ironarm: The Shang Dragon, (a title that pronounces him a master with martial arts,) he has green eyes that change color and a charm that draws women to him. He takes liking to and decides to pursue a romantic relationship with Alanna, despite being afraid of magic. Good!

  • Duke Roger of Conte: Prince Jonathan's handsome, powerful cousin, he is hailed to be one of the best sorcerer's in Eastern Lands. Clever and patient, he aims to kill off Jonathan, the King, the Queen, and all that keep him from the throne. Duke Roger is a skilled reader of people, and he too suspects that Alanna has a secret, though he doesn't figure it out until their duel in "In the Hand of the Goddess." What he does know is that she doesn't trust him, which leads him to first try to get her to join his side, then have her killed, then blind her suspicions with sorcery. BAD

  • Keladry "Kel" of Mindelan: The protangonist of the series, a young noble striving to become the first official Lady Knight in Tortall for a hundred years. She is the youngest daughter of Piers and Ilane of Mindelan, and has several older siblings. She spent several years of her childhood in the Yamani Islands, where her father, a Tortallan diplomat, negotiated a peace treaty between the two countries. As a result Kel adopted several Yamani customs, which she continued to practise after returning to Tortall. Good!

  • Nealan "Neal" of Queenscove: Kel's first friend and year-mate in the training program. He is the son of Duke Baird of Queenscove, the chief of the palace healers. Neal has got a very strong healing Gift, which, like his father's, is emerald green. Neal is several years older than his year mates, since he initially studied healing at the university of Corus before deciding to carry on the family tradition of always having a Queenscove knight in royal service. Good!

  • Wyldon of Cavall: Lord Wyldon, nicknamed "the Stump" by Neal, is the stiff, conservative traning master when Kel tries for knighthood, and is the one to demand a year of probation for her, because she is a girl. Possibly Bad?
  • Numair -Good
  • Daine-Good
  • Jorren of Stone Mountain-Bad
If I think of any others, i'll add them later

SnS - much more productive of a post although at least I was thinking along the same line 😀 Good ol wiki!

Thanks, SnS. This is a really good reference for this game. 🙂

I could tell. That was quite informative. It's always interesting to see what the players think.

Hehe you said this was mainly based on Lioness/Protector of the Small right?

These series all sort of go together and characters overlap, hence why I know i'm forgetting some.

The Immortals and Trickster's books too. 🙂 But a lot of the characters do overlap in all the books.

Seems a lot of us are going to be working/sleeping between 8am and 4pm CST. The night cycle should be active haha!

I happen to have today off of work. I start back at work tomorrow from 9:30AM PST to close (supposed to be 7PM PST) but it is a vet clinic and you never know what will happen. (I hate the 6:54PM walk-ins. My dog has been having diarrhea for 3 weeks and you need to see her NOW!!! Oh and I only have $50 so it needs to cost less than that. 😡).

I hate that too! There should be a surcharge for anyone coming in after a certain time, that is not an emergency.

Jk one more thing...Scanra is a bad bad place, creepy killing machines/robots come out of it that contain the souls of children. Nightmares for realz:

Ahhh. Love people who understand!! Some of my friends are always asking me "How do you not know what time you'll be home? You get off at 6:30" Technically I do, but I don't get to leave until everything is done! And even IF we are done with patients by then, I work at a small hospital where we all pitch in with cleaning. So there's always that to do.

Thanks a ton SnS!!! Super helpful - I was actually going to ask for this info after I got out of the shower, but I come back and it is here.

Mods - are we going to switch around the night & day cycles? Otherwise it seems day lynches will happen when people are asleep probably.

Have none of them worked retail? 😕 I know it's not the same, but in both places I worked as a cashier I had closing shifts. You had to stay until all the customers were gone, then close out your drawer, then help make sure the store was ready for opening the next day. The time all that took could vary a lot.

Eventually we will get them switched around. 🙁 Sometimes it takes a bit.

I work doing visits for foster kids, and it's similar - if paperwork's not done, things aren't picked up...the worst is when a foster parent doesn't come pick up a child. My supervisor was there til nearly 10 last night (visit ended at 8, building closed) waiting to get ahold of someone to come pick up their kid.

Yes, we'd like to get them switched around. The perils of opening the thread in the evening, I suppose.

🙁

I actually like it this way. I am usually not around during the day for lynches anyway since I am on PST and I work until 10PM EST. So then I can get off work and be around to give my thoughts/opinions on lynches. Otherwise, I have to scramble to catch up on the thread/PMs during my one hour lunch and quickly come up with a lynch vote. (I have actually missed eating lunch before due to WW😛).

I think part of the problem may be that I live in NV. 24 hour state without real closing shifts are a lot of what is available. Plus a lot of warehouse jobs. Everyone else understands that I get off when I get off

I ain't scared 'cause I was in Ravenclaw last game. The souls of children got nothing on a house full of wolves. 😎

Just want to say I'm so sad that my summer's been so busy. Glad I'm married, but it means I have to miss out on this AWESOME game. I have to say I own all the Tamora Pierce books (all of them) and have read them all multiple times. Also I'm only 22, so it's really not a matter of how old you are, but just a matter if you have even heard of the books. I wouldn't have known about them if I hadn't volunteered in the library for two years. Good luck and kill the wolves.

Another "older than yall but haven't read these books cause when I was a kid I was all 'lol reading :nono:'" checking in.

Oh who am I kidding, I'm still all 'lol reading :nono:'

Yes!! The conversation has moved back to the game!!

I found Alanna at Goodwill and read the back and decided I liked it.

Well, there went that. I slowly hunted down every book and eventually will try and get them all in hardback so they stay better. I'm 21 myself. 🙂

One of cuit and mine's friends lent it to me, along with some other books she thought I'd like, when I was 13? 14? She was right about most of them.

I aim to please 😀

And if you all need plot help, lemme know. I know Lioness/protector of the small better than the others (they were my favs) but know the general gist of the rest.

I shall also retract my feeling old comment and replace it with I am just a super proud nerd. 😳

Haha, I can already tell it is going to be a challenge for me to keep up.
I did not even get the opportunity to check SDN on my break. There were some serious lab business that needed to get done.

Perhaps I need to suck it up and pay the 99 cents for the SDN app. :meanie:

Yes you better retract the feeling old comment - I have over 5 years on you - I am old...

It is more than worth it! 👍

Dear King DVMD,

Out with your suspicions.
I have one as well and wonder if they're related.

XOXO,
Abber

Dear Abber,

The last time I outed my suspicions I died rather quickly.

I will out them when the time is necessary.

Sincerely,

Your King Queen. 🙂

Awwww .... When are you coming to visit?! Then we could be drinking buddies in person 😱

Good question. By the looks of it flights are 30 quid roundtrip right now...hmmm think think think
